00:00it's gotta clearly depend on how bad the shot is though because if you get fouled and knocked
00:05unconscious and then you come back you're just gonna get knocked out yeah if you get knocked
00:10out that's why boxing right comes in with that right and that sudden quick violent rotation of
00:17the head is going to transmit a lot of rotational force not only through the brain but also through
00:21the brain stem absolutely leading to possibility of a concussion thankfully it didn't completely
00:26knock him out but could absolutely result in some delayed symptoms it's like a big part of it is
00:30speed anthony joshua has that kind of speed joe rogan reacted to jake paul being hospitalized after the
00:37anthony joshua knockout while discussing the moment with daniel cormier rogan pointed out how powerful
00:43the punch looked and emphasized that boxing is an extremely dangerous sport he explained that when
00:48fighters are hit cleanly at that level the consequences can be serious and long-lasting
00:54rogan stressed that outcomes are never fully predictable and that such impacts can leave
00:58permanent damage that stays with fighters for life you look like you're out cold he was done outboxed
01:04him for the rest of the round how but again in mma fight probably would have been over and he would
01:09have took less damage right but isn't that a better argument for letting him get up sports doctor brian
01:16sutterer broke down the aftermath of the knockout in a calm and medical focused way he explained that the
01:22outcome of the fight was largely what many expected but the real concern came after jake paul admitted
01:27he feared his jaw was broken according to sutterer a fractured jaw was absolutely possible based on
01:32the way anthony joshua's right hand landed cleanly on the left side of jake's face however he stressed
01:39that a concussion would actually be the bigger concern he explained that jaw fractures often take a back
01:44seat initially to more serious risks like head necks or airway injuries the sudden and violent rotation of jake's
01:50head from the punch likely sent a strong rotational force through the brain and brain stem increasing
01:55the risk of concussion while jake was not completely knocked out sutterer noted that delayed symptoms
02:00were still possible jake's immediate shock and reaction showed he knew something serious had happened
02:06and we got the outcome that we all expected after the fight though jake told ariel hawani that he was
02:11worried that he had broke his jaw he said multiple times he was concerned that he had a fractured jaw
02:15and certainly looking at this knockout punch that anthony joshua delivers it is absolutely a possibility
02:21that jake does in fact have a jaw fracture i'd honestly be more concerned about a concussion in
02:25fact with most jaw fractures the more important thing initially is to look for other injuries to the
02:29head to the neck to the airway the jaw fracture potentially being there or not is going to be lower
02:35on the list often then there's damage to the airway damage to the head and so very possible to have a
02:41concussion or some residual symptoms from this as jake paul's head is relatively still here we see aj
02:46comes in with that right and that sudden quick violent rotation of the head is going to transmit
02:50a lot of rotational force not only through the brain but also through the brain stem absolutely leading
02:55to possibility of a concussion thankfully it didn't completely knock him out but could absolutely
03:00result in some delayed symptoms but you can see where the punch comes in landing square on that
03:04left side of paul's face jake's reaction was pretty telling too right away after it we could see him
03:08going down on the canvas here and being very shocked it doesn't look like there's any obvious
03:13deformity to the jaw we won't necessarily always see a deformity of the jaw but you could tell he
03:17clearly had realized that something serious had happened there and feeling the full power of aj's right
03:22and finally on this last view we can see a little bit better the exact location where the punch comes
03:27in we'll talk about our jaw anatomy the different areas of the bones but your temporomandibular
03:32joint where your jaw articulates with the rest of your skull is sitting right around in this area
03:36and the jaw is roughly coming down in this orientation and so where that punch comes in
03:40from joshua is a little bit more kind of flush right in the center of the mandible but also up
03:45close near that temporomandibular joint joe rogan had already predicted before the fight that it would
03:50not end well for jake paul he explained that jake was used to facing older or retired opponents but
03:56this time he was stepping in with one of the best heavyweights in the world rogan warned that the
04:00level difference would be dangerous and unforgiving the joe rogan experience what do you think about
04:06jake paul anthony joshua boy um well realistically it's one of the craziest propositions of all time
04:20you take a guy who just had a boxing match that looks like a sparring match with a 58 year old mike tyson
04:27and then you're gonna fight one of the absolute scariest knockout artists in the heavyweight division
04:36maybe we should watch the francis and ghanu fight so you could see let's watch that real quick
04:40just so you can see what anthony joshua is capable if he's fighting someone that's not in his league
04:47okay look usik beat him and he beat him twice and andy ruiz caught him in the first fight and and
04:55dropped him and stopped him it was spectacular the aftermath of jake paul stepping into the ring with
05:00anthony joshua sparked a wave of reactions across the boxing world while some fans rushed to praise
05:06jake for his courage and willingness to face a dangerous opponent many respected voices within
05:11boxing pushed back hard against that narrative luke thomas was one of the strongest voices pushing
05:16against the praise jake paul received he made it clear that the reactions surrounding the fight felt
05:21wildly exaggerated according to thomas people were applauding jake simply for surviving rather than
05:26actually competing he pointed out that anthony joshua did not fight at full intensity and deliberately
05:31pulled many of his punches from thomas's perspective this was not a competitive boxing match but a
05:37controlled situation where a top level heavyweight showed restraint jake's performance did not demonstrate
05:42skill growth or tactical intelligence instead thomas argued that jake looked overwhelmed for most of the
05:48fight struggled to engage meaningfully and failed to show any real intent to win i initially watched
05:54the jake paul versus anthony joshua fight i think i would say that my conclusions now still match most of
06:01what i said when i was watching on the initial broadcast which is that joshua he did look a little
06:06rusty to me i'm sorry but he did that jake is you know probably a little bit better than we suggest that
06:14he might be when i say we i mean like the hardcore fight community the fight fans the people who work
06:19in the industry to a degree sometimes there is a suggestion that he can't do anything and i would
06:25be like well that's a little much he can do stuff i mean it's limited what he can do it's very limited
06:29what he can do but there is a little bit too much anger towards him sometimes or just dismissiveness
06:36maybe is a better way to put that and i don't really co-sign on some of that he's got some ability he's
06:41not good listen to me very carefully he's not good but is he the caricature that he is sometimes
06:46made out to be in terms of his pure boxing skill um i think it goes a little overboard sometimes
06:53but that reason the reason i wanted to make this video what i wanted to make this video about is
06:58two things one after the fight was over i got on social media and people were like hugely negative
07:05about the fight and i did not think that the fight was good in fact um i thought the fight was
07:10like most jake paul fights pretty bad although him surviving kind of feeds into the story of him
07:16being perhaps a little bit better than we sometimes think although i didn't i don't really co-sign on
07:20that let me make the point the first point is um i think people are overreacting a little bit a little bit
07:30people were suggesting when i got on social media that this was like the biggest farce they'd ever seen in
07:34their life and this was how could he fight like this and this was a disaster and you know joshua
07:38should have got him out there earlier there is probably some evidence to suggest that joshua i
07:43don't think joshua was carrying him in the sense of hey they coordinated this ahead of time but was
07:49joshua really stepping on the gas no i don't think he was really stepping on the gas there were times i
07:53think he clearly pulled his punches lawrence osweki approached the situation from a different angle but
07:59reached a similarly critical conclusion he focused on the inherent danger of boxing itself
08:04osweki explained that one mistake in the ring can end a fight instantly regardless of fame or
08:10preparation from his point of view jake paul stepping in with someone like anthony joshua
08:15was reckless osweki stressed that boxing is unforgiving and that mismatches do not become
08:20acceptable simply because they generate attention he described the decision to take this fight as
08:25unnecessary and foolish highlighting how easily the outcome could have been even worse despite the
08:30heavy criticism there were some voices that acknowledged jake paul's willingness to take
08:34punishment and continue following the fight it was reported that jake was taken to the hospital and
08:39suffered a serious jaw injury some commentators viewed this as evidence of toughness they argued
08:45that regardless of the performance jake showed courage by stepping into the ring with a fighter of
08:50joshua's caliber these reactions focused less on technique and more on resilience however even
08:55among those giving limited credit the praise stopped short of endorsing jake as a legitimate
08:59professional boxer the narrative was framed as bravery rather than ability taking damage and
09:04continuing is respected in boxing but it is not enough on its own courage without competitiveness
09:10does not redefine a fighter's standing while jake's injury showed the physical cost of the decision
09:15it also reinforced concerns about whether such fights should happen at all those you know go to
09:20the hospital i think i broke my jaw you know we all know he broke his jaw we all know we've seen
09:25the x-ray there is a video of the x-ray that he uh showed us on his instagram so that was no ai
09:33and it showed where he was where his jaw had to be reconstructed and uh you know wired right so he can't
09:43have any hard foods for a while uh and again i think jake paul is going to get respect for that
09:50because it's one thing because we all know about jake i think i think the problem with jake was
09:59he was bullshitting us by giving us fights that we didn't want to see for one and for two
10:04wasn't giving us fights most of the time of the people that could beat him
10:08you know he then he gave us tommy fury and then tommy fury actually beat him which you know
10:16whatever but he did drop tommy fury with a left hook so that was an impressive thing he did against
10:22the guy the well can't say the only guy now because aj fought him and knocked him out but you know other
10:28than that though fighting mike tyson and anderson silva which anderson silva showed that he is still
10:35very dangerous and very very um um ready at 50 years old you know what i mean like
10:43he did what he did to tyron woodley was classic anderson silva you know he picked his shots
10:49you know what i mean he moved with grace he moved with wisdom and he knew exactly what to do and again he
10:56should have went over to boxing a long time ago but jake beat him so that just made jake jake's you
11:04know um stock rise right in the sense of hey well he beat anderson silva in the boxing ring adam
11:12cadderall was particularly blunt in his assessment he strongly criticized the role of popularity in
11:18modern boxing and argued that jake paul is a product of that imbalance according to cadderall anthony
11:23joshua did not even throw his punches at full power yet still managed to cause serious damage
11:28this in his view highlighted the massive gap between the two fighters cadderall stressed that
11:33if joshua had fully committed to his shots the outcome could have been much more severe cadderall's
11:38larger point was about the sport's direction he argued that boxing is increasingly rewarding fame over
11:44merit fighters who spend years climbing rankings struggle for recognition while internet personalities
11:49receive opportunities they have not earned inside the ring for cadderall this fight symbolized
11:54everything wrong with that trend jake paul's involvement was not impressive it was evidence
11:59of a system that prioritizes attention above sporting integrity standing that ring thinking
12:04for my own credibility i've got to knock you out but i've got to try and knock you out where i'm not
12:11hurting you as much as what i could if i unleashed and with the punch you said that he landed
12:16it's not his best punch it's an arm punch right yeah and he's shattered his jaw in two places right
12:24so anthony joshua gets his 70 million sick whatever it is but i think he's sitting there thinking thank
12:29god thank god for that thank god on a human level i've come out all right i've sort of not reputation but
12:36i haven't hurt him as bad as i could have there should be an awful amount of people breathing a massive
12:41sigh relief anybody that put that fight together athletic commissions like it wasn't a fight no it wasn't
12:46at all like you said it was a prize yes it was an event anthony if anthony damages him he's got to
12:51live with that for the rest of his life absolutely that's a lot of stress to deal with you know what
12:54i mean so i'm sure he's bleeding in the size of relief the team that have put him in there that
12:59have negotiated that for him but the authorities that put that on and commissioned it as a proper
13:03boxing match i've no doubt does that go on because yeah it's a professional boxing you know what
13:07if i was anti joshua joshua i will be saying i don't want that on my record but but for the credibility of
13:14them putting the fight on they would have said to him no this is we've got to say this it's been
13:18commissioned it's going to be a proper fight and um yeah i i found it i love my boxing but i just
13:24find the whole thing really really unedifying you said about get followers you mentioned tommy fury
13:29tommy fury is nowhere near nowhere near is he he's level of getting like a british title fight or
13:35whatever nowhere near so it's basically he's like jake paul well oh yeah sorry yeah but what i'm
13:41saying is that that's the hundred i stand by that and i think tommy would have admit that you know
13:45what i mean to become a british champion is a very prestigious thing to do and i think he would
13:49struggle to do that yeah and but i think when i was reading he got 5.6 or six million pounds true
13:55jordy offered a more nuanced but still critical reaction he acknowledged that jake paul's personal
14:00story and rise through entertainment were interesting the background discipline and
14:04ambition were seen as motivating on a human level however when it came to the actual fight true jordy
14:10was clear that jake failed to deliver he noted that jake did not look like someone who genuinely
14:14wanted to win his movement was hesitant his offense lacked commitment and his overall presence in the
14:20ring suggested survival rather than competition true jordy emphasized that boxing is not judged on
14:26intentions or narratives but on actions inside the ring while jake's journey might inspire some
14:31the performance itself offered nothing memorable from a sporting perspective the broken jaw became
14:36symbolic not of bravery but of the predictable outcome when skill gaps are ignored really hard
14:42fight for me to evaluate because on the one hand you know jake's come a long way so you want to give
14:47him credit for that but on the other hand you want to get in there with aj you want to talk about you're
14:51going to beat aj up and then you fight in a certain way it's very hard for me to kind of give the
14:55right amount of credit and criticism here because the backstory is so inspiring but the performance
15:00was not inspiring in some ways i think for me now i just want to see jake paul in a competitive
15:06fight and that's the problem with the direction he's been going in is he puts on big fights but
15:11not competitive fights fighting chavez jr you know that was an easy win nate diaz an easy win mike tyson
15:18an easy win anthony joshua not competitive for the opposite reason he's completely not expected to win
15:23and it wasn't competitive he stacks the chips too heavily either way and because of that we never
15:29actually get to find out how good jake is and part of that i think is maybe deliberate because then
15:34we never know and the storyline can go anywhere and while you don't know really how good he is
15:39there's always another dream to sell and it's almost genius level promoting it really is but for his own
15:45sake you know you're getting into your late 20s now your physical prime you're only going to ever
15:50find out how good you really are by getting in there with people who are of the level that you
15:56claim you're at at the right weight class you are not a cruiserweight you've got a layer of you know
16:01body fat on you you can't be doing that in boxing if you're a serious boxer you don't get in there
16:06looking like jake paul looks you look shredded and that's why really he's a light heavyweight but like
16:11fuck it if you want to be cruiserweight be a cruiserweight regardless just just fight people who
16:15are now like ranked and let's find out where the fuck he is because surely you know these money grab
16:21tyson fight the aj fight he's packed that bank chock full and credit to him even if he has hustled
16:27people or whatever the credit to him one of the best promoters in boxing history actually i really
16:32do believe that because even when fights seem ridiculous he always gets people to tune in paulie
16:37malinagi was one of the harshest critics as a former world champion his expectations for boxing
16:43standards are uncompromising he dismissed the fight entirely describing it as unserious and
16:48uncompetitive according to malinagi jake paul did not attempt to win and instead focused on
16:54lasting as long as possible he criticized jake for repeatedly going down to one knee and treating
16:59the bout as a spectacle rather than a contest malinagi's frustration was rooted in respect for
17:04the sport he argued that boxing careers are built on sacrifice discipline and years of hardship
17:09watching someone enter the ring under vastly different conditions and receive attention
17:14for simply surviving felt insulting to those who dedicate their lives to the craft from his
17:19perspective the fight did not advance boxing in any meaningful way he earned the respect of boxing
17:23fans by going out on his shield that just ran for his life i just watched jake paul run for his life
17:29for like five six rounds literally just run for he was doing football jukes you so you guys watch that
17:33fight ring was big i made a i made a freaking point about that ring being big and he used it he used
17:40it as advantage and every in terms of survival in every way he could i mean this guy literally never
17:46tried to win a second of the fight he was trying to throw a home run punch every once in a while
17:49and notice every time he got in the clinch he just went down like he just he just hugged janty joshua
17:54and then like we'll go down and the referee will call it a slip and give him a break and like he
17:58would just kill time that way then he was he was completely angling off he's completely bladed
18:02shoulder off completely to the point where you can't you see so bladed off that he can't even
18:05punch he was just trying to make himself as small of a target as possible now anthony joshua people
18:08gonna say oh why didn't anthony joshua catch up to him because anthony joshua never had fast feet to
18:12begin with and anthony joshua honestly should have probably cut off the ring a little bit better that's my one
18:15critique of joshua he probably could have cut off the ring a little bit better um at a
18:18really joshua's always never really had the best feet but um in terms of cutting off the ring could
18:24have at least done that but honestly what do you want the guy to do i mean this guy reigned for his
18:28life in a 22 by 24 ring that ring was huge that ring was huge i can't believe what i just watched
18:34guys i i i'm seriously like dude that's it that's it this was this was aj's chance could have went out
18:41on his shield and his chance to say yeah get the respect of the boxing community this was the one
18:45that could have got him the respect of the boxing community this was the one he came out with all
18:49these rap this rap crap and and then and then and then and doing uh the the hulkamania crap and all
18:54that other stuff and all that stuff you know and i'm thinking to myself is he that calm or is he
18:58literally just setting up his own demise i i mean i don't know aj came out to the ring really serious
19:03you know which would you expect and then i mean he never fought he never fought jake never fought
19:09like he never fought the whole fight like like in any and then in the end what happens you get
19:14stopped anyway you get stopped anyway you took some shots anyway he was mouthless bleeding at the
19:18end of the fight like so you took shots anyway that's it for today's video stay tuned until next time
