The GOAT is in India 🇮🇳
When Lionel Messi arrives, the hype is inevitable. Private tours, fans flooding the streets, cameras everywhere. Football takes centre stage.

But beyond the celebrations, an important conversation needs to happen.

In this video, we talk about:

Messi’s visit to India and what it truly represents

The current state and future of Indian football

Why Sunil Chhetri still doesn’t get the respect he deserves

Are we building football culture or just chasing moments?

Messi is the GOAT of world football. No debate.
But Indian football’s growth depends on how much we value our own heroes alongside global legends.

This video isn’t about comparisons.
It’s about perspective, respect, and where Indian football goes next.

00:00the goat tour has ended and the goat has gone back to argentina but where is indian football
00:09what's the state of sunil chetri and the other footballers in india if you have these questions
00:16this video is for you and let's dive in right away ciao ciao my name is ajay manan i'm a content
00:24creator and i've also worked in indian football so my takes on indian football come from experience
00:29and a certain certain level of authority now we all celebrated leo messi and lewis suarez and
00:37rodrigo dipol coming into india conducting the goat tour in calcutta in mumbai hyderabad and in new
00:45delhi but before this goat tour actually the argentinian national team was penciled in to come
00:51into india and player friendly now ideally it should have been against the national team or a club from
00:58india but apparently the organizers were going to fly out the australian team and argentina
01:05were supposed to play australia on indian soil in a ground which is so well known across the world
01:13which houses one of the best fans in the country the kerala blasters the indian national men's team
01:19haven't played a game there but argentina could have played a game but it did not go through for
01:25whatever reason that we're not getting into it in this video but parallelly the goat tour was always
01:31going to happen it's been on for months people have paid from 7 000 to 10 000 officially and you know
01:38unofficially i really don't want to speculate the amount i mean it goes on to several lakhs if you want
01:44to actually get a you know photo with messi and his signature and you know uh the works basically so
01:50this was hyped up right my uh take and the kind of issues i want to address is with regards to the
01:59commentary of messi coming in and suddenly you have all these keyboard warriors and journalists
02:04and fans waking up from the slumbers and we'll get into each each and every argument one by one
02:10okay now firstly okay i'm gonna i'm i'm with the fact here all right a lot of people who said that
02:17oh why are indian fans you know uh getting so hyped about you know messi he is messi he is leo messi he
02:26is one of the greatest footballers of our generation still currently active still going to play the world
02:32cup with argentina he's like i mean this video can go on for three hours if i start to describe about
02:38how great or how awesome leo messi is he is one of the legendary players of all times so if he's
02:45coming to india you definitely would be hyped up now a lot of us can't go or you know couldn't go in
02:52the past to see messi play at the camp now or you know at bfg or now even in the us so this is the
02:59easier option i mean instead of paying many lakhs of rupees for a few thousand rupees you can at least
03:03you know catch a glimpse now ideally ideally he should have been playing football but hey you know
03:09you you know as fans what can you do i mean this is all the organizers right i mean he's just coming
03:14for a photo we knew it we knew what the event was going to be about so why is there this narrative now
03:21after the event has you know taken place right and uh you know with regards to celebrating him man we
03:27are a country where we celebrate so many people like be it politicians or film stars or uh pop icons
03:35or whoever you know we we love that uh you know celebrity worship culture and all of us including
03:41me i mean all of us have indulged in that in some form or the other and why not for the greatest
03:45footballers of all time man it's leo messi obviously there will be that fanfare there will be that uh you
03:51know worship culture everything is there man because he has rightfully earned his his stripes
03:57so called to say so that's my first argument i'm with the fans fans would pay whatever amount just
04:02to catch a glimpse even if it's you know a photo op event even if it's just messy walking in casual
04:09clothes and just you know having a kick about here or there if i am a messy fan i would you know want
04:14to be there especially when it's happening in your own backyard now point number two you know the this
04:21is it's it's so annoying there are people making reels on this if you can pay 10 000 for messy why can't
04:29you pay 100 to be so or so little chetari it makes no sense you know indian football fans have supported
04:38the national team and isl and i league for the last decade or so and having worked in indian football
04:46having traveled to several parts of the country having made content especially in kerala
04:52i don't think so any football fan has never supported chetan they have always come out especially when he
04:58dons the blue or orange in this case for india i think the support has always been there okay
05:04the whole mumbai thing where he made a video i was there for the first game obviously the fans
05:11weren't there because mumbai is not the cultural hotspot for a football game and the national team
05:17was returning to mumbai after a gap of many years right so that got in the hype but recently india
05:24played in goa right i mean i know our results have not been great but goa which is known as the hot
05:30spots and hot bets for indian football the fans did not turn up for that but they did turn up for
05:35fc goa versus al nasar my point is fans have always backed chetari you guys the guys who made these
05:43videos you guys have never ever come out in support you've never actually gone to a stadium or caught an
05:49isl game or a season for that matter the fans who were there for chetari's games are also there for
05:55the messi events and you saw it in mumbai it's not vankhede it is the folks from the mumbai football
06:01arena who chanted chetri chetri chetri when he comes out as a bangalore fc player obviously he gets
06:06that hate and batter but when he's representing the national team he's a legend he's you know our
06:12greatest footballer of this generation uh by a country mile and he gets all the love and support
06:18everywhere so you keyboard warriors who really haven't followed indian football the lack of support
06:24towards chetri or his teammates or any other indian footballer is not the issue here i think it's a
06:29guilty self-conscious that has really come to haunt you all right number three um number three was
06:34the sponsorship issues and so many brands pumping in money to you know fund the messi strip and the
06:41whole activity uh why are they pumping in the same money for indian football well indian football
06:46is in dire straits right now uh to sum it up shortly fsdl who are a reliance company who had the rights
06:54for the isl uh and who've been running the league for the last decade or so along with the all india
06:59football federation they are caught up in an internal turmoil and to be very honest which brand
07:05will willingly invest money when there is no future no clarity on a future um little or no roi
07:13whatsoever i don't want to get into the technical aspects of uh all of this but the main losers here
07:19are us fans because it is why at the time of recording we are in the middle of december and
07:26we still don't have any clarity on our top division on our second division or any other football league
07:31including the iwl which is pencil to start in a few days there is no clarity um as the great angry
07:38rat man would have said it in terms of the offices of the organizers there is no passion there is no
07:44commitment there is no dedication there is no vision and i know that vision 2047 is looking at me
07:51and laughing like you know i mean the fans have been taken for a ride the most important stakeholders
07:58of a football system us we the fans we've been taken for a ride and there are people now because
08:06because the whole messy thing is trending and indian football is there along with it and everyone's
08:11you know weighing it and seeing it in the same lens please invest that energy right uh the folks
08:17who i just mentioned the guys who run the football leagues in our country they're all on social media
08:22please go on their handles and start commenting same indian football because that's what indian football
08:28needs it needs to be saved from itself and that was the video if you have any comments please
08:35leave them below i would definitely want to engage uh you know with i mean with the thoughts that
08:42matter because indian football is not really going to be built by one person there is not going to be
08:49one messiah who comes and saves indian football we have to do it collectively so please share your
08:54thoughts below and for more such content like share and subscribe i shall see you in the next video
