42:04For those of you who've attended before, feel free to ignore my sob story and go straight to the bar.
42:09But for those of you who don't know it, here's the short version.
42:14My parents were both junior hockey coaches.
42:20And they were hit by a drunk driver when I was 12 years old.
42:25Mercifully for them, they died instantly.
42:29Mercifully for me, the St. Thomas scholarships existed.
42:33I didn't have anybody else to help me.
42:38I had a lot of memories, a love of hockey, and a huge hole in my heart.
42:44St. Thomas filled it with hope.
42:49The hope of a new family.
42:52Things weren't always easy.
42:54You know, they never are for anybody.
42:56But in hockey, I found what I was missing.
43:01First at my high school, then later at college, and now here with the Admirals.
43:05And I never looked back, because I never had to.
43:13The family I craved, the family that I needed, that I still need today.
43:17Hockey gave it to me.
43:22And St. Thomas gave me hockey.
43:26So from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for being here tonight.
43:30And for supporting this cause, because it's not just a scholarship.
43:33It's everything that comes with it.
43:36It's a whole world.
43:38A whole life.
43:39It's everything.
