00:00Travel is in my blood.
00:02Let's go.
00:03This is the best.
00:04For years I worked as a tour rep,
00:06following in the footsteps of my dear lovely mob,
00:09a hard-working, no-nonsense travel agent.
00:12Thanks to our money-saving tips,
00:14we managed to budget our way to a place that totally captured our hearts.
00:18Look at this! Look at this!
00:20Florida.
00:21I love it!
00:24I was born for Little Havana.
00:26And now the Sunshine State is a big draw for me.
00:29Sorry, I'm still on your foot.
00:31And my son, Aidan.
00:33You see him, mate?
00:35Yeah.
00:37But with holiday prices rising...
00:39Oh, my goodness. I'm in heaven.
00:41Can you do Florida...
00:43Without breaking the bank?
00:45$4.99 for these.
00:47Oh, yes, Aidan!
00:49Help you, Mum. Otherwise, just get out.
00:53It's the best day of my life.
00:59I don't know about you, but when I think of Miami,
01:03one place shoots straight to the top of the list.
01:09Miami Beach.
01:11This seven-mile-long barrier island just off mainland Miami,
01:15dotted with pricey hotels and restaurants,
01:18is the coastal resort city of America.
01:21I'm a kid of the 80s,
01:23when Miami Vice was just about the coolest thing on telly.
01:27A forbidden treat that I sneakily would watch
01:30when Mum wasn't looking.
01:32And now, here I am.
01:34And for once, I don't have to fake my photos.
01:37The sand, the sea, the architecture.
01:40It's an influencer's paradise.
01:43Oh, can you believe we're on Miami Beach, Aidan?
01:46I know.
01:47How cool is this?
01:48It's really cool.
01:49I feel like Will Smith.
01:50We need to do, like, a music video or something.
01:52I mean, speedboat, you name it.
01:56Over 20 million tourists come to Miami Beach every year
02:00to live their best and probably most expensive lives
02:03because prices are super hot here.
02:06You can burn through skyscrapers of cash in a flash.
02:10So, we really need to be careful.
02:11I'm worried, you know.
02:12That's what I like.
02:13I like a bit of money rolling around.
02:14I like that.
02:15Yeah, but aren't we on a budget, babes?
02:17Yeah, good point.
02:20We can't overspend here.
02:21So, to avoid that particular kind of Miami Vice,
02:24we need to engage beach bargain mode
02:27and turn our flip-flop frugality all the way to the max.
02:31Because this is going to be our biggest
02:33money-saving challenge yet.
02:35To find out what makes Miami Beach so iconic
02:38and to do it on a budget.
02:41So, what are we going to do?
02:42How are we going to get around and stuff?
02:44Hmm, I don't know.
02:45Actually, I do.
02:46I think I've got an idea.
02:47What's that?
02:48Follow me.
02:49There are many ways you can get around here.
02:52The Minty do it in fantastically flash, megabucks motors.
02:56With supercar prices at around $1,500 a day,
03:00that's well out of our league.
03:02And Aidan's got more sense than money.
03:04We're on a bike.
03:06So it should.
03:08There we go.
03:09Ready?
03:10So he's hiring a slightly less pricey set of wheels
03:13for the two of us.
03:14Miami Bikes.
03:16This is such a good idea, Aidan.
03:18I love it.
03:19Oh, this is the best.
03:21Mother and son.
03:22I love it.
03:23A little bit of bonding time.
03:24Yes, baby.
03:25Come on.
03:26Keep up, bab.
03:27Keep up.
03:28For less than the price of a double shot ice coconut latte
03:32with turmeric and oat milk, you can rent a bike for an hour here.
03:38If you're under 16, it's Florida's law to wear a cycle helmet.
03:44And this designated cycle superhighway is perfect for getting around.
03:49Everyone's doing all their exercise.
03:51Look, roller skates.
03:52Yeah, I love it.
03:53Walking.
03:54And they've all got their tops off.
03:55Woo-hoo!
03:57I love Miami Beach!
04:02This massive stretch of eye-watering, expensive real estate
04:06is especially vulnerable to climate change and sea level rises.
04:10So they've spent millions raising roads and installing pumps here.
04:14But the expansion of bike lanes across Miami Beach
04:17is one of the most obvious signs that this place
04:20is taking its green credentials seriously.
04:23And since the cycling trails run right beside the beach,
04:26as well as burning off some calories,
04:28we're also getting a better view than we would in a $20 taxi ride.
04:33It's a good exercise.
04:34Yeah.
04:35It's a lot more affordable.
04:36Yeah.
04:37And you get to see all the sights.
04:39You really do.
04:41You also save yourself the price of parking,
04:44which, if you want a secure spot for your swanky motor,
04:47can be up to $100 an hour.
04:50Which is probably why so many locals choose to get around here
04:54under their own steam.
04:56That's why everyone looks so fit.
04:57Yeah.
04:58Whereas we in Birmingham...
05:00Getting a car everywhere.
05:02I can't remember the last time I was on a bike.
05:05But I know for sure the last time Aidan was on a bike,
05:08it had stabilisers on it.
05:10I'm loving it.
05:11I'm loving it.
05:12Cycling along from one end to the other
05:16really helps you get a handle on the geography of a place.
05:19And by now, you know that that was one of my favourite subjects at school.
05:23Woo-hoo!
05:24Miami Beach is basically three beaches on an island.
05:28With the Atlantic Ocean on the east side and Biscayne Bay on the west.
05:32North Beach is where you find the kind of plush residential apartment
05:36where the movie stars would be right at home.
05:39Then you've got Mid Beach with its giant historic hotels.
05:44Where Goldfinger lost his card game and a Bond girl got covered in gold paint.
05:49And right at the bottom, you've got South Beach,
05:52the trendiest and most visited part of the island.
05:55So naturally, that's where we're going.
05:58Oh, I could get used to this.
06:01Shall we move to Miami?
06:03Yeah, let's move to Miami.
06:05Yeah, let's master staying here on a budget first, shall we?
06:10Before we think about moving here.
06:14Mind you, it looks like there are plenty of hotels to choose from in South Beach.
06:18All of them well out of our price range.
06:21Because this is probably the most famous Mar in all of Miami.
06:26Hey, look where we are, man. Ocean Drive.
06:29Isn't it lovely? It's lovely.
06:31With its iconic pastel-coloured Art Deco buildings
06:34and hotels, Ocean Drive is one of the most photographed streets in America.
06:39So when in South Beach...
06:43Oh, what is it doing, boy?
06:45Got the palm tree and everything.
06:47Isn't it nice? Shall we go and have a look?
06:49Yeah, let's go have a look.
06:51You might think this place has always been cool,
06:53but back in the 70s, South Beach had fallen into disrepair.
06:57Many of these famous Art Deco buildings had become cheap retirement homes for the elderly,
07:02or just abandoned.
07:04The neighbourhood was known more for drugs and crime than for beauty and glamour.
07:10So to find out more about the complicated past lives of these iconic buildings,
07:14we're taking a tour with Mark Gordon from the Miami Design Preservation League.
07:20Shall we start with this Leslie building? Tell us about that.
07:22Sure, we'll start with the Leslie.
07:23So the Leslie's a good example of what Art Deco buildings looked in the beginning.
07:28Art Deco buildings in Miami Beach typically are three by three.
07:33Okay, that means there are three sections and three stories tall.
07:37Miami Beach code back then said that if a building was taller than three stories tall,
07:42it would require an elevator.
07:43So they were building for the middle class and trying to keep expenses low.
07:48And then Art Deco is three-part, tri-part.
07:51So you walk in the center vertical and the rooms are on the right and the left.
07:55Then over the windows, you have something we call them eyebrows.
07:59But this time of day, it keeps the sun out.
08:02And then they have a roof line and we call that a ziggurat.
08:06Now, if you notice, if you move to the side, you can see that there's a swimming pool up there,
08:11there's a bar, there's cabanas, but you can't see it from the center
08:15because rules of preservation prevent that from happening.
08:19It's hard to believe it now, but 50 years ago,
08:22developers were determined to demolish the Art Deco buildings here
08:26until a forward-thinking woman called Barbara Bay a Capitman came along.
08:30With unstoppable determination, she led the charge to save the Art Deco district
08:35from becoming just another square mile of high-rise hotels.
08:39Her campaign to make this area the first 20th-century neighborhood
08:43on America's National Register of Historic Places
08:47helped preserve 800 distinctive buildings and saved Miami Beach's soul.
08:53And because of Barbara, people like Mark carry the torch today,
08:57keeping these beauties standing tall.
09:00Now, there is a need to preserve these buildings, though, isn't there?
09:03There is a need, and that's what our organization does.
09:06And all the money we raise at our museum, our welcome center,
09:09from fundraisers goes towards preservation.
09:12You can tell you've got a real passion for it. It's lovely.
09:15This is what I think about when I think about a Miami building,
09:17this type of building. It's lovely. It's beautiful.
09:19But tell me a little bit about this one. This one's matching my outfit.
09:21The Carlisle Hotel's pretty famous, so that's what I call the second generation
09:25of Art Deco buildings. So, if you notice, that building has more curves.
09:29We call it streamlined modern. The Carlisle's famous because that's where the movie
09:34The Birdcage was filmed.
09:36And that's another great way to become iconic, isn't it?
09:39Just grab yourself a starring role on the big screen.
09:42When South Beach started showing up in movies, pop videos and fashion shoots
09:47in the 80s and 90s, it went from a bit dodgy to full-on glam.
09:52Artists, designers and photographers flocked here.
09:55And then came Gianni Versace, buying his famous mansion
09:59and sprinkling a bit of high-end chic over the whole place.
10:03His murder in 1997 was a brutal reminder of the area's darker days.
10:09But now, it's all part of the South Beach story.
10:13Glam, grit and a little bit of everything else in between.
10:18These vibrant buildings are firmly embedded in popular culture now.
10:22But amazingly, they weren't vibrant at all to begin with.
10:26They were all painted white.
10:28And the colours were only added later for a bit of Miami glam.
10:34Because back in the old days, white paint was A, reflected the sun,
10:38and B, white was the cheapest paint.
10:40Well, let's talk about this white building.
10:42It's owned by someone really famous, isn't it?
10:44Very famous, yeah.
10:45That building's called the Cordozas.
10:47And it's owned by Gloria and Amelia Estefan.
10:50She bought it, he and her husband bought it in 1992.
10:54She grew up here.
10:55And she had always been in love with that hotel.
10:58Wow.
10:59Until they recently did a $15 million renovation of the building.
11:03A $15 million renovation.
11:06Now that's what I call an expensive architectural facelift.
11:09Nice car.
11:10Look at that.
11:11But he slowed right down.
11:12Did you get that a lot?
11:13Yeah, we get that a lot.
11:14And most of the time, they don't own the cars.
11:17Do they?
11:18They rent the Lamborghinis and the Ferraris from these places
11:20to look like they're rich, and then they turn them back in.
11:24You're joking.
11:25No.
11:26Probably the largest amount of high-end rental car places in the country.
11:31People just want to pretend there's somebody else
11:33coming for long weekends.
11:35There's a lot pretending going on here in Miami Beach.
11:40Pretending to be rich.
11:42Pretending to be cool.
11:43Pretending to be fit and healthy.
11:45Oh, well, actually, I don't think this lot is pretending.
11:48This looks pretty genuine to me.
11:50Genuinely ridiculous.
11:52Because it's the middle of the day.
11:54It's blazing hot.
11:55Humidity is 100%.
11:57And I'm not kidding.
11:58I'm working up a sweat just standing here watching this.
12:01Phew.
12:02Lovely work, boys. Lovely work.
12:06This is Loomis Park, where fitness meets fashion
12:10under a flaming hot sun.
12:12It's where the Beach Body Ready locals hang out.
12:15Literally.
12:16There's all sorts here, from bodybuilders pumping iron,
12:20to athletic tights striking impossible poses,
12:23to tree climbers, to skateboarders, to meditators,
12:27and even the odd tourists brave enough.
12:30Or should that be stupid enough to join you?
12:35All right, Matt, so tell me a little bit about this slack line
12:37and how would you do this?
12:38So, to get to that, you want to start here.
12:40OK.
12:41This is the Gibboard, right?
12:42First thing you do, stand here.
12:44You want to look at something that's not moving, right?
12:46OK.
12:47OK, mate, let's try it.
12:48He's out of trouble.
12:49I don't know how I'm going to be.
12:50I don't know what my balance is like.
12:51Tap behind you.
12:52Yeah, perfect.
12:53Ooh.
12:54This is great.
12:55It's going to build up the balance and stability.
12:57It's actually quite hard.
12:58You've got to really concentrate.
13:01But this isn't just about fitness.
13:03This is about being seen.
13:05So, although it feels like a fitness class on the surface of the sun,
13:09you've got to look cool doing it,
13:11which means Aidan needs to bring his A-game here.
13:14I think I'm better on my left foot slightly.
13:16Yeah, I think I'm a little bit better.
13:18I feel more comfortable on my left foot.
13:20I may not look it, but I feel it.
13:22I feel it.
13:23Like any decent gym, there's a range of equipment that you can use
13:27and loads of expert help on hand if you need it.
13:30But best of all, this whole Miami Muscle Beach experience
13:34is not going to strain our budget to breaking point.
13:37In fact, if we worked hard, we'd be gaining pounds here.
13:41It's a good gym here.
13:42So, how much does it cost to be for a member?
13:43It's actually free.
13:44It's free to be here?
13:45Yeah.
13:46Oh, wow.
13:47It's a lot different in the UK.
13:48In the UK, this would be about 40 quid.
13:50$40 to be a member here.
13:52Yeah, no.
13:53We're lucky to have this.
13:54Yeah.
13:55So, it's just on the beach and anyone can come down?
13:56Yeah.
13:57Actually, I think you're ready to get onto this.
13:58I was just going to say, am I ready for this?
14:00Let's do it.
14:01I want to give it a go.
14:02While Aidan takes his skills up a level...
14:05Hey, I'm up.
14:06There you go.
14:07Time for me to exercise.
14:10My vocal chords.
14:11Ten more.
14:12Ten.
14:13Nine.
14:14Eight.
14:15Seven.
14:16Six.
14:17Five.
14:18Four.
14:19Three.
14:20Two.
14:21One.
14:22Yes.
14:23Well done, guys.
14:24Well done.
14:25I'm impressed.
14:27There's a lot of impressive physique here.
14:30And there's Big Tony.
14:31Hi, Big Tony.
14:32Yes!
14:33You can see why they call him Big Tony.
14:38But perhaps the most impressive of all is this guy.
14:43His name is Robert Kraft.
14:45But he's better known around these parts as Raven.
14:48And he's basically a living, breathing South Beach icon.
14:53Because, so the legend goes, he's been doing daily workouts on Miami Beach since January 1st,
15:011975.
15:02Tell me what goes on on Miami Beach.
15:05It's like a three-ring circus.
15:07You look one way, you see a skateboard and a dog.
15:10Another, you see a bikini.
15:12Then you see a person talking to himself.
15:14There's always something going on here.
15:16So, tell me a little bit about your raging.
15:18I come here every day.
15:19I do my pull-ups, my chin-ups, my asymmetric hang, push-ups, arm stretches.
15:24And then I ride my bike home and I do my run.
15:27And do you ever miss a day, Raven?
15:29Never miss a day.
15:30In how many years?
15:3149 years and eight months.
15:33Wow, you are dedicated.
15:34Every single day.
15:35Do you ever go on holiday?
15:36Every day's vacation.
15:37This is your way.
15:38Everyone wants to be here.
15:39Yeah.
15:40As well as his daily workout, Raven runs along Miami Beach for eight miles every day.
15:46And in that time, he's clocked up over 125,000 miles.
15:51That's like running around the world five times.
15:54If I was a beginner, what would you suggest I did to get into this sort of thing?
15:58I would say, well, for running, I would just say walking.
16:01Then add miles.
16:02And for the weights, you just use light weights and then you make them heavier.
16:06If you're doing push-ups, you do a small amount and you just add to it.
16:10Same with the pull-ups, everything.
16:11How big a part is fitness for the Miami Beach lifestyle?
16:15Well, it should be the biggest part of all.
16:18Some people like the party part.
16:21But for me, this is all about fitness.
16:23And what is more conducive to be on the sand, have these bars, have the weights,
16:28have other people doing the same thing.
16:30We inspire each other.
16:31What has fitness done for you?
16:33It saved my life.
16:35It's my savior.
16:36Really?
16:37Oh, I came back from Nashville, an angry young man when I was 19 years old.
16:41I was searching for something and I started running.
16:44I started running and working out.
16:46It calmed me down, first mentally, and after a while physically,
16:51then it becomes a spiritual thing.
16:52I think you've sold it to everyone.
16:55Raven's transformation pretty much mirrors the transformation of Loomis Park itself.
17:01Like the rest of South Beach, it was a place most people avoided in 1975.
17:06But just like the bodybuilders who come here, Loomis Park has transformed itself.
17:11It's bulked up and chilled out.
17:13And now it's a place where men and women of all ages and abilities can work out.
17:18So the time for talking is over.
17:20Time for the Hammernator to deliver.
17:23Raven, let's do some work, mate.
17:25Come on.
17:26Give me ten.
17:27Ten?
17:28I'll do ten with you.
17:29Come on, Bob.
17:30One.
17:31One.
17:32Two.
17:33Three.
17:34Four.
17:35Five.
17:36Six.
17:37Seven.
17:38Eight.
17:39Nine.
17:40Ten.
17:41The thing is, you can do this for free in your own house as well, can't you?
17:43You could, you could.
17:44But it's so much nicer.
17:45It's port, yeah.
17:46It's nicer on the sand.
17:47It is.
17:48It's warm.
17:49It almost gives you a little bounce.
17:50And a nice soft landing if you fall.
17:53So, time to see if Aidan's got his balancing act sorted on the slap line.
17:58You're a natural.
17:59Yes, Aidan.
18:01I don't know how I'm going to get dazzled up there.
18:05Okay.
18:06Maybe go backwards.
18:07Maybe go backwards, okay.
18:08Yes.
18:09Well done, Aidan.
18:10There you go.
18:11Do it again, do it again.
18:15Again.
18:16It's your turn.
18:17I will have a go.
18:18No problem, bab.
18:21I'm buzzing.
18:22So, without any practice whatsoever, I'm taking on the high line.
18:27Although high might be a slight exaggeration here.
18:31Nice.
18:32I'm not on the floor, I'm so heavy.
18:35I'm just walking.
18:37Remember, you want to bend your knees.
18:39Yes.
18:40And now to dismount with style, elegance and panache.
18:46Oh, that's enough.
18:49That's enough.
18:50I enjoyed it though.
18:51It was good, wasn't it?
18:52I didn't even need the training, did I?
18:53The thing I'm really enjoying about this place, apart from the fact that it's free, is that
19:02it's not intimidating at all.
19:03There's lots of smiling going on and a lot of encouragement.
19:07No, that's not happening.
19:08Go, go, go, go.
19:09And a sense of whatever you want to do, you can actually give it a go.
19:13Yay!
19:14Go on, nice, Mum.
19:16Go for it.
19:17Go on then.
19:18Go on, do it again, Mum.
19:19So good.
19:20Do it again, Mum.
19:21That's enough.
19:22On top of that, some of the skills and acrobatics on show here are the sorts of things I'd pay
19:35money to see.
19:36Oh, my gosh.
19:37Oh, my God.
19:38Look at him.
19:39Yes.
19:40That is crazy.
19:42Well done.
19:43Well done.
19:44I think we might have to clock up a few more sessions yet before we match some of these
19:48guys.
19:49You'll go.
19:52Do you want to try something?
19:53Not really.
19:58Go on, see if you can do it.
19:59I don't know what, you just swing.
20:01I can swing on it.
20:06Go on.
20:07Yes, son.
20:08Yes.
20:09Yes, baby.
20:10Thank you, Mum.
20:11It's actually so hard.
20:12Well done.
20:13All that's left to do now is the obligatory pose, but me and Aidan are keeping our tops
20:20on.
20:21Modesty is the word here.
20:23Don't want to put the others to shame, do you know what I mean?
20:25Our mission to max out Miami Beach without maxing out our money has gone well so far.
20:39But now comes the biggest challenge of all.
20:43Somewhere to stay.
20:44Recently, a perfect storm of construction slowdowns, rising energy costs and inflation
20:51has sent hotel prices here through the roof.
20:54Miami Beach room rates have risen by over 50%.
20:58And if you want to be right on the beach, it's even pricier.
21:02A basic room in the Fontainebleau in the off season will set you back over £300 a night.
21:09But I've discovered you don't have to blow your budget to stay close to the beach and still
21:13stop over in style.
21:15Well, where we're staying tonight, Aidan, you're going to absolutely love it.
21:19Why is that?
21:20Well, because a very famous Leonardo DiCaprio stayed here.
21:24Really?
21:25Yeah, really.
21:26So if it's good enough for Leo, it's good enough for the Hammonds.
21:29Come on, bab.
21:31Thank you, darling.
21:32You're very welcome.
21:33Hello.
21:35Hi there.
21:36Checking in for the Hammonds.
21:38All right.
21:39This place is in North Beach, the quieter, more laid-back cousin of South Beach.
21:44Here the vibe is more chilled and less flash.
21:47It's more about relaxing in nature with wide open green spaces and beachfront paths.
21:53But don't be fooled, it still comes with those classic Miami price tags for its chic beachfront
21:59hotels and condos, so it's not exactly a bargain hunter's paradise.
22:04We're just a ten-minute walk from the beach, so Aidan is convinced that the only way to
22:09stay here cheaply is to share a room.
22:12The room will be located 2201.
22:15Oh, lovely.
22:17But there's no way I'm putting up with his snoring, so we've got a room each.
22:212204.
22:22Thank you very much.
22:24But there is a little twist.
22:26I forgot to tell you.
22:27Yeah?
22:28This is actually a hostel.
22:29Really?
22:30It is.
22:31So we're not sharing a room?
22:32No, we're not sharing.
22:33Come and have a look.
22:34Hostelling's had a serious makeover here.
22:37With places like this making budget travel a bit posh.
22:41It's not just for backpackers anymore.
22:43Families, groups of mates, even business travellers are all checking into hostels,
22:49looking for that sweet spot of affordability and comfort.
22:52Oh, look at the pool.
22:53It's lovely.
22:54How nice is this?
22:55Might have a swim later.
22:56It actually is really nice.
22:57With private rooms, cool communal spaces and even the odd celeb dropping by.
23:04Hostels are attracting people who want to save some pennies without missing out on that Miami Beach vibe.
23:10You know what?
23:11I actually can't wait to see the rooms.
23:12Really?
23:13Yeah, come on.
23:14Oh, you're going to love it, darling.
23:15Look great online, put it that way.
23:16Yeah.
23:17But this is affordable luxury.
23:18Really?
23:19You can keep costs really low here by sharing rooms.
23:23But if you book well in advance, you can get a great deal on a room of your own.
23:29Oh, hello.
23:31Four poster beds.
23:32Nice.
23:33Do you believe this is a hostel?
23:35Nice.
23:36Oh, look.
23:37Shuffleboard.
23:38Nice.
23:39Oh, stop it.
23:40It's absolutely stunning.
23:41Nice view as well.
23:42Lovely.
23:43Lovely.
23:44Look at your little fridge.
23:45Look at this.
23:46Oh, my God.
23:47It's so nice.
23:48Are there snacks in there?
23:49No snacks.
23:50Of course, if you book your Miami Beach Day at the most cost effective times of the year,
23:56you'll save even more money.
23:58The summer months are too hot and sticky for many, and peak hurricane season too.
24:03So it's worth double checking all the weather forecasts and weather warnings before you book your Florida break.
24:08Oh, nice.
24:11God, look how big my room is.
24:13I've got like a little living room.
24:15Your room's more like an adult room.
24:17I've got the playful room.
24:18You've got the baby room.
24:19Look at your bed.
24:20Nice.
24:21Oh, my God.
24:22I can't believe this is a hostel.
24:23Look at my bed.
24:24Do you know what?
24:25Lovely.
24:26I don't want to share with you guys.
24:27I'm going to be fine in here.
24:28I can see the river.
24:29Look how beautiful the view is.
24:31Look, I've got a kitchen.
24:32Oh, stop it.
24:34Look at this.
24:35Lovely.
24:36Can you watch TV here?
24:37I'd like to live here.
24:38This is actually nicer than my house.
24:42What's in there?
24:43The bathroom is everything.
24:45I love it.
24:47Do you know what?
24:48We should do more affordable things in general.
24:51The only thing that concerns me is that, like most things in life, if a hostel seems too good to be true, it usually is.
24:59Do you reckon people are going to come in and just start sleeping in my room with me?
25:04As the night goes on, they'll be opening the door, I'll be like, hello.
25:09I think all this money saving in Miami Beach is slightly going to my head now.
25:14And now I've got a feeling this was Leonardo DiCaprio's room.
25:18It's like we're sleeping together.
25:20You and Leonardo.
25:22So, time for me to reveal to Aidan the actual cost of this place.
25:27How much is it going to set us back?
25:29Well, you'd be surprised.
25:31Across the road, same view, see the river, everything, right?
25:35$420 a night to stay in that hotel.
25:38OK.
25:39Your room?
25:40Yeah.
25:41$113.
25:42That's really good.
25:43And you can also get rooms at $20 if you share with someone else.
25:46Not bad at all.
25:47It's all right, isn't it?
25:48It's really good.
25:49It's all right.
25:50It's all right.
25:51It's all right.
25:52It's all right.
25:53It's all right.
25:54It's all right.
25:55It's all right.
25:56And now time to reveal the ultimate twist.
25:57A little secret that I've been keeping from Aidan.
25:59We could save a little bit more money.
26:01How can we do that?
26:02We could work for the actual hostel.
26:04What, like cleaning dishes?
26:05No, not cleaning dishes.
26:07Well, basically, your job.
26:09If you could DJ for one hour, given one hour of your DJing skills,
26:14basically, you'll get your room for free.
26:16So, if I DJ for an hour...
26:17Yeah.
26:18I work.
26:19Yeah.
26:20I get them free.
26:21Literally.
26:22That's actually not that bad.
26:23You're free.
26:24Yeah.
26:25Right then, let's do it.
26:26I'm ready.
26:27Yes, Aidan.
26:28Yes, Aidan.
26:29I can't wait to have a little done.
26:31But before Aidan hits the decks, we've got some time for a little sundowner by the pool
26:36to reflect on our Miami Beach experiences.
26:39Is Miami Beach iconic?
26:41Of course it is.
26:42I'd say so.
26:43It's been the most iconic day of my life.
26:45I mean, look at what he's done today.
26:46No traffic.
26:47Bikes.
26:48Yeah.
26:49The bikes were absolutely brilliant and really quite affordable to be fair.
26:51They were.
26:52And then we have the Art Deco buildings, which were just incredible.
26:55And we got that free tour.
26:56Yeah.
26:57So, he literally told us the history of the Art Deco buildings.
26:59He learnt everything.
27:00And then finally, the gym.
27:02Free gym.
27:03I know.
27:04Literally didn't have to pay.
27:05And we made so many friends.
27:06I know.
27:07You're still sweating from my push-ups.
27:08I am still sweating.
27:09What are you trying to say?
27:10I'm sticky.
27:11Is that what you're trying to say?
27:12No.
27:13And then this has been the best, best day.
27:16It really has.
27:17Oh, Babs.
27:18You've got a DJ set to do.
27:20I forgot about that.
27:21I was really loving it here.
27:22Go on.
27:23I'm not going to do that DJ set.
27:24Yeah, you are.
27:25See you in a bit.
27:26Enjoy, darling.
27:28This is going to top my night off.
27:30Incredibly, we really have done Miami Beach without splashing the cash.
27:36In the water.
27:39Yep, ready?
27:40No.
27:41You all right?
27:42Aidan's first love, apart from me and chicken tenders, of course, is music.
27:50This is his first gig on the other side of the pond.
27:53And it makes me feel even better than it's covering the entire cost of his accommodation for the night.
28:00Go on, my son.
28:01Go on, my son.
28:30Go on,!
28:30Go on, my son.
28:31.
