00:00Travel is in my blood.
00:02Let's go.
00:03This is the best.
00:04For years I worked as a tour rep,
00:06following in the footsteps of my dear lovely mob,
00:09a hard-working, no-nonsense travel agent.
00:12Thanks to our money-saving tips,
00:14we managed to budget our way to a place that totally captured our hearts.
00:18Look at this! Look at this!
00:20Florida.
00:21I love it!
00:24I was born for Little Havana.
00:26And now the Sunshine State is a big draw for me.
00:29Sorry, I'm still on your foot.
00:31And my son, Aidan.
00:33You see you, mate?
00:35Yeah.
00:37But with holiday prices rising...
00:39Oh, my goodness. I'm in heaven.
00:41Can you do Florida...
00:43Without breaking the bank?
00:45$4.99 for these.
00:47Oh, yes, Aidan!
00:49Help you, Mum. Otherwise, just get out.
00:53It's the best day of my life.
00:59Every year, Florida welcomes around 130 million visitors.
01:06It's one of the most visited states in the whole of the U.S. of A.
01:10And Orlando, the theme park capital of the world,
01:14is Florida's most visited city.
01:17It consistently pulls in around 900,000 Brits every year.
01:21And this year, it's 900,000 and two.
01:25Cos the Hammonds are back in town.
01:30Why is that not working?
01:32Minano.
01:33I think the seat is too far up from what it was before.
01:37But before we can do anything,
01:39there's just the small issue of getting the hire car to work.
01:42What do you mean?
01:44As in...
01:45No, it's not going out.
01:46Should we have...
01:47No.
01:48OK.
01:49And we're off, bab.
01:51But we're not heading to the usual hotspots.
01:53We want to show you a different side to Orlando
01:56and find out if there's more to this city
01:58than fairy tales and magic spells.
02:01So we need to get planning.
02:03Cos as me old mum would say,
02:05plans are nothing.
02:06Planning is everything.
02:08Do you know you've been to Orlando every year of your life
02:13since you were five years old,
02:15since you were this age?
02:16How cute is that?
02:17So that was the first time that you went to Disney?
02:20That's crazy.
02:21The very first time.
02:22Look at that.
02:23That's me and you.
02:24Look at that smile.
02:25That hasn't changed, does it?
02:26No.
02:27Here we go.
02:28It's my baby, everyone.
02:29It's my baby.
02:30It's my baby.
02:31It's my baby.
02:35If you think about it,
02:36every single year we go,
02:37Disney Universal,
02:38all the parks.
02:39We've been here so many times.
02:40I want to see other parks, really.
02:42So the big question is,
02:44is there more to Orlando than theme parks?
02:47It's gotta be.
02:49It's gotta be.
02:50The only thing is,
02:51I like to do things on a budget.
02:53You know what I mean?
02:54I don't want to be spending loads and loads of money,
02:56but I want to do something that's affordable.
02:58Yeah.
02:59You can't take the girl out of Birmingham
03:00and not still be from here.
03:01I need a parking.
03:02I agree.
03:03How's everything been so far?
03:05Amazing.
03:06We wanted to actually,
03:07because we just decided we're not going to do the parks this time.
03:09We want to kind of go beyond the parks.
03:11What would you suggest?
03:13Oh my gosh,
03:14there's so many things to do.
03:15Our beaches,
03:16our lakes.
03:17It's just amazing.
03:19There's a lot that's right on Orlando's doorstep.
03:21In under an hour,
03:22you can reach the Atlantic coast and the Kennedy Space Center.
03:27But before we explore the surroundings,
03:29we want to get more of a feel of downtown Orlando,
03:32the city itself.
03:34But I've got a feeling I know what Trina is going to recommend.
03:38Orlando just has this emerging, booming food scene here.
03:43I mean, you could just eat your way through Orlando as well.
03:46We could do that.
03:47There's that.
03:48Thanks very much for your food.
03:49Thank you so much.
03:50Enjoy Orlando.
03:51I'm excited.
03:52My mum would be so proud of me.
03:55We are O for organised and all systems go for Orlando.
04:02We've got a plan.
04:03We've got a trip with a difference,
04:04which is so exciting,
04:05because normally every single time we come here,
04:07we do the parks.
04:08This time,
04:09we're going to do something completely different.
04:11And Aidan's totally up for it.
04:12I mean,
04:13I'm very happy.
04:14The fact that he's now paying for the bill.
04:16I mean,
04:17I'm quidzing.
04:18It's the best day of my life.
04:20That was good, wasn't it?
04:21It was.
04:22So what are we doing now?
04:23Well, I've got a bit of a surprise for you,
04:24because I've organised transport.
04:26Now,
04:27some of my mates at school would call me a practical joker,
04:30but I like to think of myself more of a surprise-surpriser,
04:34as Silly would say.
04:35And right now,
04:36Aidan has no idea what's in store.
04:39You can pay nearly $100 a person for a sightseeing tour in Orlando.
04:44But we're going on a special guided tour
04:49with the Orlando Fire Department.
04:51That's pretty good.
04:52That's pretty good.
04:53I'll give you that.
04:54You're going to love this.
04:55Are you excited?
04:56Yeah, I'm excited.
04:57Let's do it.
04:58Oh, wow.
04:59It's so high.
05:00Oh, yeah.
05:01This is awesome.
05:02They offer locals and tourists the chance to ride along on a call-out,
05:09and see the city from a firefighter's point of view.
05:13Let's go.
05:14Yeah.
05:15Ready.
05:16To get a flavour of it,
05:17I've arranged a special guided tour from fire officer Lorenzo Edwards.
05:22What does it feel like to drive Lorenzo?
05:24Is it really hard?
05:25I'm getting used to.
05:26This truck weighs approximately 43,000 pounds.
05:28Wow.
05:29Without water.
05:30Oh, without water?
05:31Yes.
05:32Oh, my gosh.
05:33It holds approximately 750 gallons.
05:35It's crazy.
05:36You know, you used to have a fire truck when you were a kid.
05:39Did I?
05:40Yeah, a massive fire truck.
05:42Well, when I say massive, it wasn't as massive as this.
05:44You used to love it.
05:45The Orlando Fire Department began allowing the public to ride along with them a few years ago,
05:51and anyone can book it.
05:53Yeah?
05:54Anyone?
05:55For free.
05:56So, if people would like to come down and visit the fire station,
05:59or even do a ride along, all you have to do is fill out a form online,
06:02and then, you know, we schedule a day and you come in.
06:05That's it.
06:06This really is a different way to see the city.
06:09Like most Brits who come here, we'd always head straight to the big parts in the southwest.
06:15But Lorenzo wants to show us there's a lot more to Orlando.
06:19It's actually a very beautiful city.
06:21There's a lot more to do than just, you know, Disney.
06:24And he's got some real surprises up his firefighter's sleeve.
06:28Orlando is taking a huge interest in street art.
06:33So, we hire a lot of local artists to do, let's say, murals.
06:37Yeah.
06:38We're actually coming up on one here.
06:40To encourage more people to visit...
06:43Relax!
06:44...the city has turned over hundreds of public spaces to local artists.
06:48It's like a giant outdoor art gallery.
06:52Again, there's another mural right there.
06:58Each artist was asked to capture what they think of Florida.
07:02And the result is that the whole city is filled with colour.
07:05Never seen anything like it.
07:11And as we're going around, like, that's something to keep an eye on.
07:15The other thing you don't realise is how old parts of Orlando are.
07:19Apparently, some of these roads date back to the late 1800s.
07:23So, if you notice, we're travelling on these beautiful brick roads.
07:28They're all gorgeous.
07:29Yes.
07:30Back in 1913, they had the prisoners work on it.
07:35It was connecting dirt roads because all of this used to be dirt roads.
07:38What, and they laid every single brick, the prisoners?
07:40Every single brick.
07:41Wow.
07:42Wow.
07:43Yeah, it's pretty incredible when you think about it.
07:45It's amazing that all the years we've been coming, we never knew this was here.
07:50Well, you can keep your magic kingdom.
07:53Give me Lorenzo and a fire truck any day.
07:56So, this is downtown.
07:57Downtown.
07:58Yeah, there's a lot of light down here.
07:59Yeah, you can tell.
08:00Especially on the weekends.
08:01And just when we thought it couldn't get any better.
08:04Look at this lovely lake.
08:06Is that lake over there?
08:07Yes, it's beautiful.
08:08It is a very lovely lake.
08:10Bang smack in the middle of downtown is Lake Eola.
08:14Originally designed to give local workers a place to escape the heat,
08:18it's almost one mile all the way around.
08:21So, if you're up for a jog, it's easy to keep track of your distance.
08:25Or you can always head onto the water in a swan-shaped pedalo.
08:30Oh my gosh, this is the best tour ever.
08:32Yeah, no worries.
08:33We're really getting to see Orlando, I'm loving it.
08:35But there is one more freebie that Lorenzo has to show us.
08:39We also get, for free, a look around city of Orlando fire station one.
08:46So, this is station one.
08:48There you are.
08:49Wow.
08:50Oh, I'm going to go with the truck.
08:52How do I get out of this thing?
08:54If my son can get out of the truck.
08:56There we go, do it.
08:58With space for 11 trucks and 70 firefighters, it's the biggest station in the whole city.
09:06Which is why, I'm guessing, they call it The Big House.
09:11Hey guys.
09:12Hey.
09:13Alison, this is Brittany.
09:14Lovely to meet you.
09:15So nice to meet you.
09:16So, if someone's on a tour, you would literally, I'd be able to come in here and meet all the guys.
09:20Oh yeah, absolutely.
09:21And it's so lovely to see a woman firefighter.
09:23Oh yeah.
09:24Why, thank you.
09:25I'm loving this glimpse behind the scenes.
09:27Rescue one, first aid and no, at South Orange Avenue and Sturdivant Street.
09:32And before you know it, we're in the middle of a code red emergency.
09:36What's that?
09:37This is a fire car going out.
09:40That's a power line.
09:41It's actually quite frightening, isn't it, hearing it?
09:43Instant one.
09:44Luckily for me, my personal tour guide, Brittany, hasn't been called out this time.
09:50So it tells us which units and which personnel are going.
09:53In America, the fire service are often the first responders to an emergency.
09:58And the Orlando fire department responds to about 60,000 incidents a year.
10:03So they need to keep their strength up.
10:05So this is our kitchen for station one.
10:07That's quite big.
10:08Do you have a chef?
10:09No.
10:10So you all just do your own cooking?
10:11Yep, you're expected to at least know how to cook one good meal.
10:14Mine would have been spaghetti bolognese.
10:15Ooh, that sounds delicious.
10:16Or maybe burgers.
10:17Yeah.
10:18On average, calls to the big house come in every 30 minutes.
10:22And whatever time of day or night, the teams have to be ready to go.
10:26So this is where you stay?
10:28That's right, Aiden.
10:29One of the department's newest recruits, Eduardo Ramaz Lopez, is given Aiden a taste of what
10:35it's like when you're on shift.
10:37So this is me.
10:38This is you.
10:39This is my bed.
10:40Nice.
10:41When it's night time, we try to get some sleep.
10:42As much as you can.
10:43As much as I can.
10:44Some days it's a little too busy to wake up four times, five times a night.
10:46I'm going to try out your bed.
10:47Is that all right?
10:48Go ahead.
10:49It's all yours.
10:50Let's see what it's like.
10:51It's not you guys are...
10:52Ooh, it's quite nice.
10:53It's comfortable.
10:54It's actually...
10:55I like it.
10:56That's what I think.
10:57I could see...
10:58Yeah?
10:59Sorry, babes.
11:00Being a firefighter is not that easy.
11:04So what are you going to get me to do today, though?
11:06So we're actually going to give you a taste of what the fire service is like.
11:08OK.
11:09We've got a little course set up downstairs.
11:11I'm excited.
11:12Let's go do it.
11:13Yes, sir.
11:14Let's take the pole.
11:15I'm excited.
11:16Ever since I saw him as a little boy with a fire truck, I wondered what Aiden would be
11:20like as a firefighter.
11:22So over here we have some training equipment, so they can simulate some fire ground activities.
11:28And now's my chance.
11:29Go, Aiden!
11:30Yes, Aiden!
11:31You all right, guys?
11:32Let's get dressed.
11:33Let's go.
11:34As part of their training, all recruits have to show they can rescue a person from
11:43a building in as short a time as possible.
11:46So the boots are in the pants, always ready to come on right away.
11:49So cool.
11:50Come on, Aiden.
11:51Firefighter Ramos ready to go.
11:52You're going too slow.
11:53And if that's not enough, do it in a fireproof suit that weighs over 20 kilograms.
11:58So this is just the bare minimum of protective gear they're putting on.
12:04Time to find out if my boy's got what it takes.
12:06All right, so right now that's...
12:07What to do now?
12:08That's the Halligan.
12:09It's one of our tools that we use.
12:10He's going to force the door.
12:11Come on, Aiden!
12:12Get it in there!
12:13You got this!
12:14Yes, Aiden!
12:15Come on!
12:16Honestly!
12:17Yes, Aiden!
12:18Yes!
12:19Yes, Aiden!
12:20Yes!
12:21Come on, Aiden!
12:22Be careful with him!
12:23So Clarefetta Ramos has the patient.
12:26Well done!
12:27Now patient care starts.
12:29Well done, babe.
12:30Thank you very much.
12:31That was so good.
12:32Great work.
12:33I need a drink.
12:34See you in a minute.
12:35This has been the best day ever.
12:36It's been the best day.
12:37Glad you've enjoyed it.
12:38I really have.
12:39Thank you for giving us a taste.
12:40The best day ever.
12:41Share with my boy and it didn't cost me a dime.
12:42How was it?
12:43It was good.
12:44It was hard.
12:45Open to that door.
12:46Was it?
12:47It was actually quite hard.
12:48It was quite hard.
12:49It was quite hard.
12:50It was quite hard.
12:51It was good.
12:52It was good.
12:53It was good.
12:54It was hard.
12:55Open to that door.
12:56Was it?
12:57It was quite hard.
12:58And is it hot?
12:59Yeah, I'm roasting.
13:00Do you know what?
13:01I'm not being funny.
13:02Seeing you do that.
13:03Yeah.
13:04That's the first time I thought, I haven't got a baby anymore.
13:07You look like a proper man.
13:09I'm a 19-year-old.
13:11What a great start to our Orlando trip.
13:14And it's free.
13:15Exactly!
13:16It's been brilliant.
13:17Yeah.
13:18Right.
13:19I'm sweating, so I'm going.
13:20I live to it.
13:21Alright, see you later.
13:22I'm getting out of this.
13:23Better get off this before there's an emergency.
13:24What?
13:25What?
13:26For many years it's been just me and Aidan.
13:30A two-person family unit.
13:32And I love the fact that in that time we've become not just mum and son, but great friends
13:37as well.
13:38Do you know what's so lovely?
13:41What's lovely?
13:42Is the fact that you even want to spend time with me still.
13:45Honestly, so many 19-year-olds do not want to be spending time with their mum.
13:49Yeah.
13:50Do you enjoy it?
13:51It's so lovely.
13:52I like to think Aidan just enjoys being with me.
13:55But there is another explanation.
13:57And he's not shy about admitting it.
13:59You pay for a lot of my food.
14:02And don't I know it.
14:04Eating out can be a massive expense when you come to Florida.
14:08Just like the UK, the US has seen a big bulge in food prices.
14:12But you don't want to miss out on the food scene here.
14:15A recent survey named Orlando the number one food city in America.
14:20But the trick to keeping the cost down is to go where the locals go and take advantage
14:26of America's humongous portion sizes.
14:29After you, sir.
14:31After you.
14:32Thank you very much.
14:34Oh, this is lovely.
14:35With our bellies rumbling like a Florida thunderstorm, we've come to meet Maria Palo and her family.
14:43We heard that a meal for one here is more than enough for two.
14:46And that it's proper Italian cooking.
14:49Hello.
14:50I'm Alison.
14:51Hi, Alison.
14:52Hi.
14:53I'm Maria.
14:54My mum was called Maria.
14:55So you won't forget me.
14:56I'll never forget that name.
14:57So who works here?
14:58Is it like friends and family?
15:00The whole family, six days a week.
15:02And on Sunday, they say, Ma, what are you cooking?
15:04Then I say go home.
15:05But yes, the whole family.
15:06So you're with your family all the time?
15:08Yes.
15:09And how do you find that, Maria?
15:11Great.
15:12It's like me and him at the moment.
15:16We're with each other 24-7.
15:18There's a lot of love and a lot of fighting.
15:20But as long as there's love, you can make it.
15:23Oh, I love that.
15:24You can make it.
15:25I make a great spag bol.
15:26But you can't go far wrong with Italian food, can you?
15:29And it looks like the locals agree.
15:32Ordering another steak sub.
15:34It's Maria's husband, Lou, who turns authentic Italian dishes
15:38into mega-sandwich fillings here.
15:40Order up.
15:41Alongside their sub-making supremo son, Al.
15:45Ordering two stacios.
15:47Sosage and no cheese.
15:49So let's hope Aidan isn't about to spoil this Italian family affair
15:53as he brings his West Midlands sandwich-making skills to the party
15:56to make the next order a ribeye steak sub-sandwich.
16:03Hey there, Al.
16:04Nice to meet you, Aidan.
16:05Aidan, how are you? Nice to meet you.
16:06I've been sent to make some sandwiches with you.
16:08That sounds good.
16:09That sounds good. Let's do it.
16:10What do we start off with?
16:11Aidan doing some actual cooking.
16:14Get your cameras out.
16:15This is a first.
16:16Take the steak.
16:17Okay.
16:18Lay it right on top of the onion.
16:19Amazing.
16:20So roughly how many sandwiches are you making a day?
16:22Eight to nine hundred.
16:23Eight to nine hundred sandwiches a day.
16:25Wow.
16:26That is incredible.
16:27Yes, sir.
16:28I'm beginning to think Aidan might actually be able to make
16:31something edible here.
16:32It's amazing what can happen when you've got the right people
16:35around you.
16:36And while Al and Aidan cook away,
16:38I'm catching up with another important member of the family.
16:41This is my daughter, Deanna, co-owner.
16:43Nice to meet you.
16:44Nice to meet you.
16:45She does all the buying.
16:47If she can't get something, she'll go to New York or somewhere
16:50and get pallets in.
16:51You'll find it.
16:52I'm finding it.
16:53So what's it like working with your family then?
16:55Awesome.
16:56You enjoy it?
16:57No.
16:58But it's awesome.
17:00You don't enjoy it, but it's awesome.
17:02Yeah.
17:03How did this all come about?
17:04Because you don't really see many Italian stores in Orlando.
17:08Louis, my husband, he wanted to be his own boss.
17:11So we came down here, started to, we opened our first restaurant.
17:14A lot of arguing or no?
17:15A lot of arguing.
17:16A lot of arguing.
17:17Because me and my mom, my mom sometimes when I'm DJing,
17:19she comes sometimes, comes on the mic,
17:20so I understand what it's like working with your family.
17:23Leave me alone.
17:24Let me do my thing.
17:25And then the kids all said, we need to open a deli.
17:27We don't have any delis here.
17:28And I said, no, please.
17:30I didn't want to work anymore.
17:31I have 35 years in the restaurant.
17:33I said, no.
17:34They said, yes.
17:35And this is it, six years later.
17:38We're going to scoop it in.
17:39We're going to put it right inside the bread.
17:40OK.
17:41Like so?
17:42Yeah.
17:43Put it right inside that bread.
17:44You're a big boy.
17:45You can handle it.
17:46I can handle it.
17:47Get it all in there.
17:48You like spicy?
17:49I love a bit of spice.
17:50I hope the customer who ordered this likes a bit of spice.
17:53I certainly do.
17:54And something particularly spicy has caught my eye.
17:57And I have noticed, is that your husband up there?
17:59Yes, it is.
18:00Fine specimen of a man.
18:02Lou in Speedos.
18:04Talk about an Italian beefcake.
18:06Hey, Louie.
18:07Louie.
18:08Louie, where are you?
18:09I'm here.
18:10Hello, Louie.
18:11Lovely.
18:12I've been looking at your naked body.
18:13Oh, jeez.
18:14I know they did that.
18:17I think you should do a new picture.
18:19Oh, I don't know about that.
18:20Oh, yeah.
18:21There we go.
18:22They tried to move it three or four times.
18:23And I said, oh, no.
18:24Next time you move it, I'll put it on the back of the menu.
18:27So it's staying there.
18:28Lou must have been clocking up the miles, jogging around Lake Yola.
18:32Because he's still in good shape.
18:34And he's in a good mood, too.
18:36What is that about to change?
18:37Has Aidan delivered?
18:39The sandwich looks good to me.
18:41At least it's a step up from the cheese and onion crisp butter he makes me back home.
18:46So I've made one sandwich.
18:47How employable do you think I am?
18:48You can start today.
18:49Yeah?
18:50I can start with a family?
18:51When you work here, you're family, that's it.
18:52OK, I like that, though.
18:53Everyone's family.
18:54Everyone's around making sandwiches.
18:55Yeah.
18:56I love that.
18:57It's really nice.
18:58Yeah, man.
18:59It's really nice.
19:00That's my boy.
19:01He's earned his lunch now.
19:03So I've ordered us the D, named after Diana.
19:06I mean, you've got a little spice.
19:08You've got a little...
19:09It's perfect.
19:10Who assures me it's big on Italian flavour and portion size.
19:14Miss Alison?
19:15Oh, I love how you call me Miss Alison.
19:18I love it.
19:19And it's actually quite heavy.
19:20We're Italian.
19:21We like good food and a lot of it.
19:23Look at the size of that, Aidan.
19:24There you go.
19:25That's yours.
19:26Thank you very much.
19:27Right, I'm getting involved.
19:28I'm getting stuck, yeah.
19:29Mmm, that is lovely.
19:30You taste a little hot.
19:31A little bit of spice.
19:32A little spice, yeah.
19:33Mmm, it's so nice.
19:34The sauté.
19:35The chicken's beautiful.
19:36Right?
19:37And it's even nicer when you realise it's half the price of a usual meal.
19:47But the nicest thing of all has been meeting Maria, Lou, Al and Diana.
19:52They might get on each other's nerves sometimes.
19:55But if you've got love, sandwiches and a good sense of humour, I reckon that's a recipe for
20:00a really happy family.
20:09it's road trick time all right here we go downtown Orlando is packed with big hotels
20:18catering for tens of millions of tourists who come here every year for the theme parks the
20:24outdoor spaces the cultural centers and all that shopping and eating if you're not careful you
20:32could spend a fortune here just on your accommodation but Aidan's heard we can get a
20:38much better deal on the outskirts of the city oh look at that fly in here babes get it out
20:45it's on there where oh it's horrible you are yeah sorry so I'm driving us 30 miles northwest to a
20:55quaint little town on a lake do you remember you used to watch that show Dora the Explorer
21:01you used to love it yes I do this is called Mount Dora Mount Dora the Explorer yes welcome to Mount
21:08Dora darling and what about the accommodation Aidan just you wait until you see what we've got
21:13is it nice and tranquil quiet yeah I think you'll enjoy it Mount Dora as the name suggests is high
21:22well 184 feet above sea level that's pretty high for Florida one of the flattest states in America
21:29where most of the land is less than 10 feet above sea level this makes Florida one of the places on
21:36the planet most at risk from climate change so this elevated little town with its historic buildings
21:43feels totally different from the Florida we know you believe that this is literally 45 minutes away from
21:50all under how many times we've been to Florida I've never been to Mount Dora I've never seen lovely
21:56little houses like this beautiful feel like we've gone back in time to the 1930s well I wasn't there
22:03Mount Dora we like you beautiful like how many alligators do you reckon they're in there Bob I'm
22:12like two or three two three yeah I'm not worried about the alligators I'm more concerned about the
22:19accommodation that Aidan's booked because there's nothing more important for a growing lad and his
22:24mom than a really good night's sleep but I've got a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach I don't know
22:36why here we are my legs I did because this is where we're staying the oldest working hotel in Florida
22:44we're saving around $40 each per night compared to the hotels back in Orlando and it's like stepping
22:55into a period drama oh wow let's go check in it's a bit posh isn't it lovely hopefully a drama without
23:04any nasty shocks at the end Alison Aidan welcome oh thank you Sebastian welcome welcome a few things
23:11about the hotel established in 1883 originally the lady Dora owned the hotel built it they named the
23:18lake after her views and the view is absolutely gorgeous and check-in and then walk right into
23:23downtown which is amazing here we have different restaurants from fine dining to just local pubs
23:28and bars Mount Dora is kind of that step back into what I like to call real Florida right small town
23:33quaint feel like I've stepped back in time exactly and that's that's what we try to capture here Mount
23:40Dora is an artsy place there are galleries and little boutiques and indie coffee shops all over there are
23:47boat companies that will take you out on the lake and into the canals and there's a nature trail to
23:52explore as well along the boardwalk that takes you into the swamps the perfect habitat for gators
23:59there's about one and a half million gators in Florida and Mount Dora is a great place to get a
24:05snap so are you going to show us the view today absolutely if you want to follow me we'll walk down
24:10to the dock here all right absolutely another top tip if you're booking a family-owned hotel like this
24:19is if you contact the owners direct you can often strike up a much better deal than if you're booking
24:25through a website how nice is this is lovely what of you I bet you have some weddings down there don't
24:32you oh we do and then we're ranked uh in Lake County and in Central Florida the number one sunset
24:38really I can see why and not a theme parking site back in the 1930s president Calvin Coolidge stayed here
24:48for a month in a room overlooking this very view I can't imagine a more tranquil spot in the whole of
24:55Florida but just when I was thinking I'm in for a perfect night's sleep Sebastian drops a bombshell the
25:03twist in our period drama that I've been dreading we do have some haunted rooms oh great no so one of
25:15my favorite stories to tell this is about 10 years ago my father had called me late at night said hey
25:22look the Donnelly room the lights are still on I need you to go turn them off walk out I go to
25:29turn off lights I have to turn the key and it's not open 30 minutes I'm at this store fighting it
25:35with what's going on it's ridiculous absolutely ridiculous yeah I call my supervisor and she tells
25:41me look Sebastian it's really easy you just need to go up to the door and say girls please stop playing
25:48I want to get inside are you joking I'm laughing on the phone kidding me this is ridiculous I'm not
25:56gonna say that to the Sebastian go to the door and just tell him this walk over I'm all nervous
26:02girls please stop playing I want to open the door door literally I mean I barely touched it and the
26:13door just creaks open please don't give me that room hopefully we can get out the out the door
26:17without anybody locking us in here's the keys to your room thank you so much you both enjoy your stay
26:22with us all right yeah you will say you're welcome now have a look at the view have a great one thank
26:26you see you later all right I'm not gonna lie I'm a bit scared I don't know if I want to say
26:35so the big question is did anything go bump in the night
26:41how did you sleep last night mom do you know what I slept well however there were like a few like
26:51rattling noises on my on my door and it was like someone's taking the mickey was that you yeah why
26:58are you laughing there yeah that wasn't me it was the two girls did you not say girls please leave me
27:03alive no I didn't say time for me to ask Aiden a question now the all-important one that we set
27:11out to answer when we started this trip so is there more to Orlando than just the theme parts
27:19like what we used to do I think there is more to Orlando I mean look at what we did yesterday we got
27:23a ride from a fire truck going down the fire pole we've had an adventure ride we've learned new
27:30skills we've made new friends and we've saved money instead of standing in queues and mixing with big
27:36crowds we got under the skin of Orlando with the people who live and work here and then this place
27:42Mount Dora lovely look at the view beautiful and look at us we're smiling we're loving being together
27:49and he's not costing me a bomb this is fun I enjoyed this hotel but I feel like this is more a bit more
27:55mature okay as I think like the roller coasters and stuff I do enjoy well maybe on our next journey I'm not
28:03change up yeah
