00:00Tell me what went wrong for Tigres and why they couldn't achieve the dream for Latin Nation of
00:05having two champions in the house. I mean, you know, you play Toluca, the champ, and Toluca.
00:12Again, I mentioned this over and over and over. La aficion cuenta, la hinchada makes a difference.
00:17And you know, I mean, they went all the way down to penalty kicks. That's how hard it was. But
00:21Tigres had the advantage with this goal by Pierre Guignac at the beginning of the second match.
00:26But Toluca, like I said, Antonio Mohamed is El Rey. Five championships now for Antonio Mohamed.
00:32And I think that's the main reason why Toluca won the championship. I think in the seat with Tigres is a new coach.
00:39He's learning. And then on the other side, you have someone like Turco Mohamed that knows everything that made a controversial decision
00:45by switching Hugo Gonzalez and putting Luis Garcia as a goalkeeper. But at the end of the day, they end up with the championship.
00:51It worked out. And now Toluca joins the club of those teams that have won back-to-back and is chasing El América.
00:58A ver si también les quitan la etiqueta del único tricampeón.
01:01Now, Camila, tell me, what is the highlight of this season for Tigres for you?
01:07Is there room for Tigres to come back-to-back and win it?
01:10Tell me, what's your take?
01:11Well, this was such an exciting season for Tigres. So many highlights throughout the season.
01:16I think my top, though, has to be Guignac, a veteran player getting his 400th cap for this team.
01:22Really exciting when you see, you know, players that have just given it their all to their sport.
01:26As for the game, Tigres versus Toluca. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with Tigres' performance.
01:33They started off getting the early goal, but I just feel like they kind of sat back.
01:37They kind of got too comfortable and tried to get into that defensive mode.
01:40That when you play a powerhouse like Toluca, they're going to come back and they're going to punish you for that.
01:45What do you think, Nick?
01:46Well, they definitely did that. Can I just say, as somebody who doesn't have as much stake in this kind of final,
01:53I was absolutely blown away to watch that kind of a high-intensity, high-drama final.
01:58There's nothing better than to watch the Clasura finals go into penalties.
02:02And even the penalties were nail-biters at that.
02:04So, yeah, it's not how you start.
02:0612 penalties.
02:07It's how you finish.
02:0812 penalties aside, the goalkeepers took their penalties.
02:11And missed.
02:12In both ways.
02:13The goalkeepers and Etilero, the massage guy, everybody.
02:16Everybody took their job. Everybody was there.
02:18But at the end, Toluca was very dominant.
02:21Let's take a look at the stats of the game.
02:23I think it's very important that we analyze the nitty-gritty of the game.
02:27Look at that.
02:28Nine to eight penalties in this game.
02:32The shots, 23 from Toluca to seven of Tigres.
02:36Great example of what you were saying, Camila.
02:39Tigres decided not.
02:40Clear evidence was taking out Brunetta at the 70th minute.
02:44What, for me, was a big mistake.
02:46I know there's a lot of weapons in the Tigres Arsenal.
02:49Lainez was one of the players that really, really stepped up during the playoffs.
02:54El Factor hoping to have a spot on the Mexican roster for the World Cup.
02:59Alex, what was your favorite Argentinian player of the final?
03:04Of the final?
03:06I mean, Correa for sure.
03:08I think he was one of the only players that really was able to, you know, come up in the penalties.
03:13But, you know, a player like Brunetta, of course, has to stand out in a final.
03:17I mean, you're taking him out 60th, 70th minute, you said.
03:20I mean, this is something that is just so shocking to me because he's been playing so good throughout the season.
03:27And when you're at a final, 2-1 and the game's slipping out of your hands, you can't be taken out of a player like that.
03:34Now, on the other side, Nick, talk to me about how crazy is that you have a player like Alexis Vega, injured for most of the playoffs,
03:42in doubt to see if he's going to be able to help the team on the last game, comes in on the 80th minute and scores the defining penalty.
03:51What a story for the, you know, for the home hero.
03:55Talk to me.
03:56Yeah, no, no, it's an absolutely beautiful moment.
03:58Just another beautiful storyline to this final for Toluca.
04:01For Tigres, going into a match, winning your first home game, let's say, the first leg, is almost, it's almost like you're coming in with a disadvantage.
04:11Even though you're up 1-0, you're pissing off the team that you had won in the first leg.
04:17And now you're going into their home and they're hungry and they won it.
04:20So it's going to be tough.
04:21We can criticize the coaching all we want on the Tigres side.
04:24But at the end of the day, that is a really tough match to close out at home at Toluca.
04:29Having won, the truth is, Tigres should have at least gone up 2-0 in the first leg and closed things out,
04:35or at least made it much more difficult for a really hungry Toluca to come back at their home,
04:39a very difficult stadium to play at if you're visiting.
04:42So, you know, we got great storylines like that.
04:45But at the end of the day, man, they just kind of dug themselves a hole early on.
