00:00The 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards brought the nation together in a celebration of an extraordinary year in sport, live from Media City in Salford.
00:13The ceremony hosted by Claire Boulding, Gabby Logan and Alex Scott recognised achievements from across the sporting world in front of a live audience and millions watching on BBC One and iPlayer.
00:24At the heart of the show was the top honour BBC Sports Personality of the Year, which was claimed by Rory McIlroy after a truly historic season.
00:34McIlroy completed golf's elusive career Grand Slam with a dramatic Masters victory and played a starring role in Europe's Ryder Cup success, making him the first golfer to win the award in almost four decades.
00:46So happy for him, so proud of him. He's somebody that we all look up to and aspire to be in his career.
00:55And, you know, I think there's nobody more deserving to stand up there this year with what he achieved and what he accomplished.
01:03And just so happy for him and happy that I was here to celebrate with him.
01:08Finishing close behind were England rugby star Ellie Kildun, recognised for leading her role in the Red Roses' World Cup triumph and Formula One world champion Lando Norris, who impressed with a season-defining driver's title for McLaren.
01:24It wasn't just individuals who were honoured. Team Europe were voted the Team of the Year for their Ryder Cup victory and Serena Weigmann was named Coach of the Year for her leadership.
01:33Young Talent was celebrated, too, with Michelle Ajumann-Yang taking home Young Sports Personality of the Year.
01:42No, I had not a lot of expectations going in, but, you know, we wanted to win that and, yeah, I'm so grateful that I could have contributed to that as well as the rest of my teammates in the team.
01:52Yeah, absolutely. And don't forget the Team of the Year nomination, too. You know, everyone's really worked hard and that includes, you know, the staff, the people behind the scenes that we don't see.
02:00And, yeah, I'm so grateful to be a part of this lovely team.
