00:00We have a big breaking story out of North Carolina today.
00:04A plane owned by former NASCAR standout Greg Biffle has gone down.
00:09Embrace yourselves, ladies and gentlemen, because this one's tragic.
00:12A Cessna C-550 business jet tied to Biffle crashed while attempting to land at Statesville Regional Airport Thursday morning.
00:21Officials confirmed multiple fatalities on the scene, although they haven't released names or how many people were aboard.
00:28There have been tweets that say Biffle's wife and children were on the plane, but as of right now, that hasn't been confirmed by officials.
00:38Public records show that the jet was registered through GB Aviation Leasing, which is a company connected to Biffle himself.
00:46And eyewitnesses accounts paint a grim picture about the incident.
00:50Witnesses say that the jet had just taken off when a loud noise was heard, prompting an attempt to return for an emergency landing before the crash.
01:00Emergency crews rushed in, but the plane had already gone up in flames.
01:04Now, there are reports that an investigation on the crash is already underway with both the FAA and NTSB involved as we speak.
01:14And as of now, we don't know what caused the crash, whether that be weather or mechanical or even a pilot error.
01:22It's all up in the air right now.
01:24However, this is a developing story and we'll have more updates as officials release more.
01:30This news hit the motorsports world pretty hard today.
01:34We'll see you next time.
