00:00a spring draws to a close the county becomes blanketed in bluebells and we're heading to
00:10tunbridge wells to get a view of these quintessential and quite wonderful wildflowers
00:16our stroll starts on broadwater forest lane at the end of the lane carefully cross the a26 onto
00:22bunny lane carrying on past the farm shop and on for another couple of hundred yards
00:27turn left off the road where a wooden gate marks a path to the right through the woods
00:35there's a couple of reasons we've chosen today's route the first is that we've been told it is one
00:40of the best places in the entire county to view bluebells we've already seen some and we're hoping
00:46to see a few more today and the second reason is that it is the hottest day of the year and where
00:52better to continue going on a walk and be shaded from the sun than in this marvelous forest ali's
00:59got his raver hat on he's covered up in long sleeves so as to shield himself from the beating sun
01:06and hopefully the canopy should keep us concealed for the duration of today's trek
01:10after 100 yards or so turn left and down a hill past the large pond
01:21turn right over two bridges and then follow a rough woodland track as it winds steeply up the hill
01:27and eventually opens out onto grassland
01:29follow a small path leading down the hill bearing right follow this until you reach the main track
01:42turn right and up the hill until you reach the gate at broadwater down
01:50turn left onto broadwater down and cross the road at the junction with the a26 turn right and walk along
01:56the pavement for a short while until you reach a lay by cross the road and through a small opening
02:02following the right hand edge of the farmland
02:12continue along until the end of the field onto a narrow path which leads into friesland wood
02:20a short distance into the woods turn left and the path meanders finally showcasing a brilliant
02:26bluebells so it's a good thing that ali's just woken up because we have spotted a sea of purple just off
02:34the beaten track and let's have a look here and will you look at that
02:45head through the forest going past a pretty stream until the sandstone outcrops of high rocks come into
02:57view at the end of friesland woods turn left and pass the high rocks in go through the car park to the
03:03woods at the far end turn down a steep slope also awash with bluebells
03:08the path comes out into a field follow it round the edge of the field until you come back to broadwater
03:16forest lane at four miles and with some steep climbs and sharper declines this circular walk is more of
03:24a challenge but it's worth it to catch a glimpse of kent's famous bluebells in the words of emily bronte
03:31its blossoms have the mightiest power to soothe my spirit's care
