Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an is back in office after being reinstated. That's after the High Court on Monday cleared her of a lower court's corruption conviction over charges of misappropriating assistant fees when she was a legislator.

00:00Xin Zhu Mayor Gao Hongan has returned to work after a court reversed her conviction on corruption charges earlier this week.
00:07Gao had been suspended since July 2024, pending the result of her trial on charges of misusing assistant fees during her time as a lawmaker.
00:15She was initially found guilty and sentenced to more than seven years in prison.
00:20A higher court overturned that ruling on Monday, but it gave her a separate six-month sentence for forgery, which can be commuted to a fine.
00:27Gao gave a short speech when she arrived at the city government on Thursday.
00:32She says she will now dedicate herself fully to her duties as mayor.
