00:00Turning to the Northern Territory now, NT Police have today announced they're doubling the reward
00:07for information about missing woman Angie Fuller. The 33-year-old who was last seen on the outskirts
00:14of Alice Springs in January 2023 and despite extensive police searches is yet to be found.
00:21Our reporter Matt Garrick joins us now from Darwin. Hi there Matt, so why are police raising this
00:27reward? Hi Mel, yes look it's coming up to the third anniversary now of Angie Fuller's disappearance.
00:34She was last seen, the last confirmed sighting of Angie Fuller was at a petrol station north of Alice
00:41Springs on the 9th of January that year and after that basically there were no confirmed sightings
00:49of this young mother of two. Since then police have been left baffled despite extensive searches
00:56out in the area surrounding the Tanamai Desert, the entrance to the Tanamai Desert on the Tanamai
01:02Road where they conducted very high large scale searches in that period where Angie Fuller went
01:09missing. They've turned up nothing and they believe that there is someone out there within the community
01:15who will have answers as to what has happened to her and so they're doubling the reward money for
01:23for answers, for anything that leads to answers about where Angie Fuller is.
01:29So Matt, what do police think happened to Angie?
01:34Police, Mel, believe that Angie Fuller has been murdered. They say that her, their investigations so far
01:42have not been able to come to any other conclusion than they believe that she has met with foul play.
01:49They have spent a long time trying to find her body in that part of the Tanamai Outback. Initial
01:57part of the investigation was that she had been lost and she had gone off into this section of the
02:04Outback but after they were unable to recover her body there, they believed that she had met with
02:11foul play. You can hear a bit from Detective Superintendent Drew Slape.
02:15Upon the commencement of this investigation, we looked at all aspects of what might have happened
02:23to Angie and what I can say is through those extensive investigations, our search and rescue
02:27procedures that were followed at the time, we are quite confident that the only conclusion we can draw
02:32is that she's met with foul play and that she's been murdered.
02:36So Matt, this is a pretty significant increase. Have we seen reward increases like this before in the
02:41territory? Mel, it's largely unprecedented. What it has been raised to, I should have said earlier,
02:48it's gone from $250,000 to now half a million dollars reward for any information about what
02:54happened to Angie Fuller. There's only a handful of reward amounts at this level in the Northern
03:00Territory, one of which is the infamous case of missing British backpacker Peter Falconio,
03:07who's been missing since 2001. And there's only four other cases and now Angie Fuller who have
03:14been increased to this level of reward funding. So it is obviously significant. Police are obviously
03:20pouring more resources into this case in the hope for her family that they will be able to find some
03:26answers about what happened to her and perhaps, as they have said, bring someone to justice. They believe
03:34that she's been murdered. But there's been no real proof of that at this point. So they're hoping
03:41that this new reward will bring some information out of the woodwork and lead to answers about what
03:47happened to Angie. All right, Matt Garrick in Darwin there for us. Thanks very much.
