Transcript
00:00Shalom, brothers and sisters. Welcome back. I thank you guys again for joining me today.
00:05Hey, today I got a book review I want to do, and this is a book I've had for the longest time.
00:10In fact, I'm going to read it again because I haven't read it for a while,
00:14but it's called Wine, The Biblical Imperative Total Absence by Robert P. Teachout.
00:22It's a little book right here, but I've had this book for quite a while,
00:27and there's another book called Wine in the Bible that I did a video on,
00:35and it's sort of related to this about is wine, alcoholic wine, is it permissible to drink?
00:43Is it, you know, when they talk about Yeshua when he was at the wedding
00:50and then he provided the wine in the jars, you know, turned the water into wine,
00:54was that alcoholic or was it grape juice?
00:58See, wine is fruit of the vine, but it's not clear sometimes if it's fermented or unfermented.
01:06But anyways, let me tell you a little bit about this book here.
01:11Let's show you how many pages.
01:12It's not a very big book, like I said.
01:14It's 97 pages.
01:15It says here, Dr. Teachout holds degrees from Baptist Bible Seminary,
01:25Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary, and Dallas Theological Seminary.
01:32For 10 years, he was a full-time professor in two graduate seminaries,
01:37serving as chairman of the Old Testament Department and registered at both San Francisco Baptist
01:46Theological Seminary and Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary.
01:51He now serves as pastor of the Trinity Baptist Church in Taylor, Michigan.
01:57The title of his dissertation at Dallas Seminary was
02:03The Use of Wine in the Old Testament.
02:07So, that's that right there.
02:131983 was a copyright of this book.
02:18It's got an introduction in here and then breaks it down into chapters.
02:24Like chapter 5, it says the normal objections answered.
02:28In the back here, he's got indexes and
02:34breaks stuff down.
02:38He breaks stuff down in chapters back here.
02:40The endnotes, of course.
02:43Appendix.
02:43He's got a couple appendixes right in here written in the back.
02:48Biblical references.
02:50Right there, biblical references.
02:52He's got that.
02:54But I'm sure this book is still in print.
02:56I don't know where you can get it.
02:59Online bookstore, Amazon, eBay, somewhere like that.
03:03I'm sure you can get it.
03:04But, yeah, I haven't read this book.
03:06I've had this book for over 20 years.
03:09And I've read it a few times, but I just haven't read it lately.
03:12Because I've got so many books, I've got so much projects, so much stuff going on right now.
03:18But, yeah, I'm interested in reading this book again here sometime real soon.
03:23But, yeah, I encourage you guys to get this.
03:24And if you guys know anything, you know, if you've read this book, come across it, comment below.
03:29Let me know what you think about it and everything else.
03:33Yeah, and if not, if you get this book and read it and study it, just let me know what you thought about it.
03:39You know, it's a controversy as far as was the wine in the Bible, was it fermented, unfermented?
03:46Is it a sin to drink wine?
03:50Yeah.
03:51How much do you drink wine?
03:53Is, you know, drunkenness?
03:55Is drunkenness okay or it's not okay?
03:58The Bible does talk about drunkenness not being very good.
04:01You see that in the Old Testament, like, what Proverbs, Psalms, they talk about being drunk and what it does to people.
04:12But, yeah, just get this book.
04:16Get this book.
04:16Let me know what you think about it.
04:17And I don't think I have anything else to say about it or anything.
04:23I feel like I'm missing something.
04:25But maybe after I end this, it'll come up and say, oh, Eureka, I forgot to say that.
04:31But, anyways, thanks again.
04:33And may God bless you and keep you.
04:37Till we meet again.
