00:00What's up everyone, it's Zach Braziller with the New York Post.
00:03Just saw St. John's win its Big East League opener over DePaul, 79-66.
00:09Kind of a choppy game. They played a great first 15 minutes.
00:12They're up 18. Finished the first half poorly.
00:15Second half was kind of a mixed bag.
00:18You know, the story was Dylan Darling, who's now coming off the bench
00:21as the backup point guard who played his best game as Johnny.
00:25He had 17 points, 6 rebounds, a few assists.
00:28He hit 3-3s. He really played well.
00:30Probably, I mean, the best he's looked by far.
00:32He was making shots, playing with a lot of confidence.
00:35Joson Sandin had 15 points, 9 rebounds.
00:38Ian Jackson had 10 points.
00:41Afterwards, Rick Cantina was really happy about the defense.
00:43He felt their third straight, strong defensive performance.
00:46And if they can play defense like that, it's going to take them a long way.
00:49You know, the frontcourt, which is clearly their strength.
00:53Zuby Edgeford, Bryce Hopkins, Dylan Mitchell.
00:55You know, it was kind of an off night for them.
00:57Zuby didn't have a great offensive game, although he still had four blocks.
01:00Bryce Hopkins wasn't great.
01:02Dylan Mitchell kind of quiet.
01:04And, you know, that's a sign of a good team that when some of your best guys don't play well,
01:10you still find a way to win.
01:11So, look, it's a win.
01:12It's their third win in a row.
01:14And now we go Saturday, Atlanta against Kentucky.
01:17You know, this is a big game for them.
01:19I know Kentucky's not quite what it was in the preseason.
01:22They're still a very good team.
01:23I still think they'll make the tournament.
01:25St. John's wins this game.
01:26They're going to end up going 3-3.
01:27And there's six games against Tower Conference.
01:30Opponents, you kind of salvage.
01:31You lose.
01:32And it's hard to look at the non-conference as anything but a disappointment.
01:36So, Saturday is a really big game.
01:38It's going to be a road atmosphere.
01:39There's going to be a ton of Kentucky fans there.
01:41Very intrigued to see how this team, you know, plays.
01:44You know, they're not playing, you know, they're playing well in spurts.
01:48You know, they're not putting, I wouldn't say they're playing complete games right now.
01:52But, you know, they're going to probably have to, they're going to have to be more consistent on Saturday.
01:56You're facing a team that's going to be hard to score against.
01:59A really big team.
02:00A talented team.
02:02You know, it's going to take a good performance.
02:04It's going to take a performance like Baylor.
02:05A performance like Iowa State for them to win on Saturday.
02:08We'll see what they have for us.
02:10I'll see you all on Saturday and talk to you then.
