00:00Wolfried, how would you summarise your two weeks in charge of Celtic?
00:17I accept the results, really good. Because the way people welcome me is really, really good.
00:27The connection that I have already with people also, they try to do everything to put me in the best situation to do my job.
00:36And yeah, with the players obviously a lot of changes, but they understand the situation and that's why this is not easy for them,
00:46but also the connection that I have with them is good.
00:50You mentioned the results, why do you feel they've not gone Celtic's way in the three games you've had in charge?
00:56Yeah, there are many reasons. First of all, as you know, this is not a lot of practice, training, schedule also is difficult.
01:10And the first time that also they have a new coach coming in the middle of the season.
01:15I want to stay humble with the players, knowing the context, but also I try also to give them direction.
01:21And the idea is not to change everything. The idea is to see what they can do.
01:25And after that, step by step to add certain things. I think that we have to look forward.
01:30And failure, as you know, sometimes when you have the intention to do well, could be a good learning process.
01:37And I think that the players, my players, my staff and myself, we have the intention to do good.
01:45So I think that we are learning all together.
01:47Do you then in retrospect think maybe you've tried to change too much too soon in the couple of weeks you've had in charge?
01:53Maybe it would have been better just to keep things rolling along from what Martin O'Neill had built?
01:59Martin is Martin, me and myself. So again, if I did it is because I had to do it, because this is the way I see football.
02:11And to be honest with you, I haven't changed a lot of things. But yes, if we talk about the system, yes, I changed that.
02:20But like I said before, they play also with the back five, Martin and Rondon, when the winger was dropping.
02:31You know, when they had also many players between the lines. So me, I do it in different ways.
02:36But again, this is, with all the worries, we can do many things.
02:42You mentioned the system. Can you just explain what it is you're trying to get your team to do for those that maybe are unaware?
02:49When you do your work regarding me, where I come from and the way I played with my previous team, you can see everything.
02:56So I think that this is clear. I cannot lie. So I know that Celtic, and I knew that before I came here, that it could be something different.
03:04Because culturally, I would say, he has been all the time a back four. So defensively. But offensively, he was often a back three.
03:17You know, so me, the only difference is we defend with a back three or back four or back five. And we attack the same way.
03:26But with different ways of doing things. So that's why for me, I can understand that you can think that I am stubborn.
03:36But no, every day I see the improvements. I know that everybody wants success right away. Me too. But this is not the case.
03:46So when everybody is going to be on board regarding what we want to do on the pitch, it's going to be more coherent.
03:55But I have to start from somewhere. But the buying is here. My players have been spot on regarding the commitment and the desire to do well.
04:06Do you think this bruising week, because it's been three defeats and losing a cup final, maybe the worry is that they might have less belief in themselves?
04:15Yes, normal. When you want something and you don't have it, I don't think that you're going to be happy.
04:24So you're going to doubt. And this is totally normal to doubt. So I understand that.
04:31How difficult has it been for you? Because you mentioned about pressure on the players, but very early in your tenure.
04:37But it seems to be a bit of pressure and focus on you. How do you deal with that?
04:40Yeah, it's part of the job. I am a human being. I'm not invincible. So for sure, I would like that this is the opposite.
04:51This is new for me. Not to be criticized. But I mean, to have this kind of a really difficult moment.
04:59But I'm going to go through that, because this is who I am. And I really believe that with automobility, that I try to learn a lot and to do the best as I can.
05:12And for me, this is the most important.
05:14Because of the results, people will look at the negative. Give us some positives from the last two weeks and where you feel there's buy-in, where you feel things are improving,
05:22things that maybe we don't get to see on the training field.
05:25Thank you for asking me this question, because every day there is improvement. Why? I am calm, naturally.
05:33But why am I like this? Because every day there is improvement.
05:37And that's why the game against Sam Lurin in the final, I was sad for the players, because they trained really well.
05:47The little amount of training that we had. And that's why we had a good first half.
05:52But after that, we were missing the consistency. And this, it's about time. It's about doing more exercises.
05:58It's about showing them more concepts. It's about having to have more coherence regarding what we want to do and so on.
06:05But I can tell you that every day, since Samir, I saw, I've seen an improvement regarding tactic, technique, physique and freshness.
06:22We did it in the past, but again, the level was better. So I can tell you that, yes, there is improvement every day.
06:29Well, Chris Sutton is up in the gantry for us this evening, joins us now. Good evening, Chris.
06:34Good evening, Chris.
