00:00On the game, what's your thoughts on it?
00:02Lots to like for us in the game, Luke.
00:04Obviously the big moments in terms of the three goals we lose are really disappointing.
00:10We don't really see a lot of teams cutting us open at times
00:13and we're conceding goals that we feel at times are a little bit cheap.
00:17But there's big decisions we feel that went against us in the game.
00:20We should score at 0-0, Bruce is right through.
00:24They clear it, it goes for a corner and the referee pulls it back for offside.
00:27He's actually four yards inside, he's half.
00:30So that for us becomes a momentum builder.
00:32They get the free kick.
00:34I think they had it halfway in their own half,
00:35so I don't know where he thinks the offside is.
00:39We felt the penalty, the pull on in David Watson.
00:42There should have been something in that, but again it goes against us.
00:45And then the one at 2-0 when Butlan comes off his line,
00:48in our opinion, Bruce Anderson nicks the ball.
00:51We feel it's reckless, we feel it's at least a red card.
00:55But those big decisions went against us,
00:56but it still doesn't take away from the fact the three goals that we lose.
00:59I'll come back to that in a minute.
01:00Just in terms of when you did have your chances,
01:02was that the frustration, not being able to take them when you had them?
01:05Yeah, especially the first one.
01:07You know, we work it really well.
01:09It's a great penetrating pass, which we work on all the time.
01:12And as I say, he's four yards inside, he's half,
01:13but he's maybe had a little bit too much time to think about it.
01:17He's lifted it over the goalie on corner and Barron's got back really well
01:20and cleared it off the line.
01:21But as I say, it goes for a corner.
01:22It should be a corner, but he pulls it back.
01:23But yeah, so that one's disappointing.
01:25And then we think we start the half reasonably well, the second half.
01:28We're pushing for her to try and get the equaliser.
01:31The second one comes when we're on the attack and it breaks.
01:33And I think there's probably a free kick wide right back area.
01:39But the referee plays, waves play on,
01:41and they go and get the second goal.
01:42It's poor defensively for us.
01:44And then the third goal, as I say, is probably a little bit irrelevant.
01:47But big decisions went against us.
01:49They had four off-sides against us in the second half that we're all clearly on.
01:53But again, we'll analyse it and look at the three goals we lose
01:56because that's what we need to try and arrest.
01:59VAR did check those decisions.
02:00What do you think they're thinking when they don't give, for example,
02:03the Watson pool?
02:05Do they think maybe there's, and I'm just playing devil's advocate here,
02:07there's no impact?
02:09The ball's not going into that area?
02:11Or should that even matter?
02:12Well, that I don't know.
02:13As I say, there is contact.
02:15He does pull them.
02:16We're in possession of the ball.
02:17So David could go into a position that the ball could land at him.
02:21So whether they don't think there's enough contact in it,
02:23the contact starts outside the box but then finishes inside the box.
02:27The butling one is really disappointing because we're through.
02:32We think Bruce has nicked it.
02:33The keeper's come through.
02:35Listen, he's not trying to injure him or anything.
02:36We know that.
02:37But we think we get there before the goal.
02:39It looks as though he's a little bit out of control.
02:41But the decision to keep him on the pitch keeps him 11 v 11.
02:44If we think it looks a red card, it should be a 10 v 11.
02:47The keeper's off him.
02:48We've still got maybe 15 minutes or so against 10 minutes
02:50to try and get one goal and then to see if he can get the equaliser.
02:53But we're disappointed because we're on the back of two really promising performances.
02:59We get the two points.
03:01And we just need to go again and dust ourselves down for next Sunday against Aberdeen.
03:05It's always great to speak to you.
03:06But how is Stuart after getting sent off?
03:09No, he's very disappointed.
03:11But as I say, it's hard because when you see decisions that you feel are an injustice go against you
03:19and they're big decisions and they're momentum builders, as we say,
03:21and it's difficult and you're passionate at the side of the pitch
03:24and he's a passionate guy.
03:25And I know how hard he works throughout the week to make things right for this football club.
03:30We've come in here in the summer.
03:31It's a really good football club that we enjoy working at
03:35and we want to be as successful as we can here.
03:37And I know, as I say, how hard he works at it.
03:39And it's disappointing.
03:41He'll be disappointed.
03:42And I know he'll be very disappointed he's been sent off.
03:44But as I say, he'll be fine.
03:46He'll go again on Sunday and we'll make sure that we're ready to try and get points
03:49to move up the table rather than go the other way.
03:51Appreciate your time.
03:52Thanks, Luke.
03:53Cheers.
03:53Cheers, guys.
03:54You can understand the frustration and the frustration that Stuart Kettlewell has
03:58because they are on this really poor run of form at the moment.
04:00They get decisions that they feel is against and we will try and clear some of them up.
04:03But let's start with the really big chance that Bruce Anderson had at 0-0.
04:08And he probably should be finishing it, as Stevie Frail says there.
04:12And if he does, it could be a very different game.
04:14Yeah, he should be.
04:15And I think that, you know, I know we spoke about half-time,
04:18but, I mean, he's not near the halfway line.
04:21He is so far inside his own half.
04:24How that was flagged for offside, I don't know.
04:27But Bruce Anderson, for me, should still put it in the back of the net.
04:30I think that you look at the time.
04:31Stevie Frail says the time and the work on these types of runs,
04:36these types of, you know, movements.
04:38So, yeah, I mean, too much time.
04:40I think he just can't get out of his feet.
04:42And then, you know, the last resort's almost to try and lift it over.
04:45Butlin, could he square it?
04:46I'm not sure.
04:47But, for me, the biggest point of that is, I don't know how the assistant referee can give an offside.
04:51He's in his own half.
04:52Yeah, and they didn't then get the corner, which is a frustration.
04:54But I suppose that frustration is more that if the ball had gone in the net,
04:57it would have been pulled back.
04:58They would have looked at it.
04:59The goal would have been given.
05:00And that takes that away.
05:01Yeah, so I didn't really know where Stephen Frail was going with that.
05:05Because had he scored, it would have been given.
05:08So, yeah, so moaning about that.
05:10And then, sort of, were there contentious decisions?
05:14I think in the main that the referee got most of them right, if not all of them right,
05:19other than the Mikey Moore.
05:21You know, that should have been...
05:22That offside.
05:23Yeah.
05:24But the big decisions, I think the referee did get right.
05:28I think that the bigger thing for Kilmarnock was the decision-making from some of their players.
05:33I think Liam Polworth, for the first goal, if we look back at the first goal,
05:38I think he is just so lazy.
05:40I do not understand why he doesn't put Diamande under pressure.
05:44I think, you know, it's sloppy.
05:46It's lazy.
05:47You know, he should have done much better in that instance.
05:49I think the second goal, Thompson overcovers.
05:52As good as Miofsky's finish is.
05:53So, you can blame the officials as much as you like.
05:56But, essentially, that was their own players which let them down.
05:59Yeah, they have conceded the most goals in the Scottish Premiership.
06:01But let's take a look, first of all, at the penalty claim that Stevie Frey was talking about there
06:06when Watson was pulled back by Diamande.
06:09It's right on the edge of the area, Chris.
06:11Is this a penalty?
06:14I think when you look at Diamande, he gives Kevin Clancy or the VAR,
06:19Gavin Duncan tonight, the opportunity to go and look at it.
06:22When the ball reaches the right-hand side,
06:24it's not even been crossed before he's pulled them back.
06:26Does it go in the box?
06:27Yeah, but I'm not sure, again, David Watson's getting on the ball.
06:29How can you say that if the ball hasn't been crossed?
06:32Because I think it's going to take some run for him to get there.
06:35I mean, I don't know, can we see that again there?
06:37Unless he kicks it about 50 foot in the air,
06:39it's the only opportunity he's going to get to get there.
06:41I mean, where is he going to...
06:43I just, I think...
06:44Can he cut it back?
06:45I mean, the thing is, we can't say what can happen in the future.
06:48If he cuts it back, it's going to hit the Rangers defender.
06:50If he fires it across the front,
06:52then there is absolutely no way that David Watson is getting there.
06:55That's the reason it's not being given.
06:56Yeah.
06:57Because you can't, they feel that it can't get on end of it.
07:00So it's...
07:01I suppose the question for Kermane, though,
07:02is how can you say something can't happen
07:05when you've not allowed the...
07:06Because it blocked the cross.
07:08Yeah, but that was before the cross came.
07:10Yeah, but I think if you go back,
07:11if we see it again,
07:14for it to get to David Watson,
07:15it has to cut it back, as you say.
07:17So if we watch this here, to cut it back,
07:19I mean, tell me how it's getting through there.
07:21It's impossible to get through Magoma there.
07:24The only ball he's got there
07:26is if he fires it around the front.
07:28And David Watson is not getting on the end of that ball.
07:31There's no way.
07:32I mean, you were fast.
07:33I don't even think you would get on the end of that.
07:34You're a correct decision.
07:35No, I think your line of questioning is...
07:37I'm just playing devil's advocate, as Luke did.
07:39Because that was before the cross came in.
07:41What we do know is Diamande was stupid.
07:44Do you think it was a penalty?
07:45To even think about pulling him back.
07:49Do you think it was a penalty?
07:49I don't think that was a penalty.
07:51I thought that was one in a million.
07:52You're tired, aren't you?
07:53No, I'm quite happy.
07:55But I do think that you're right.
07:56Before the cross was, you know...
07:58There is no way...
08:00That would have been really soft.
08:01It would have to have went through Magoma,
08:03which is virtually impossible.
08:04The frustration's right.
08:05It's absolutely frail.
08:06Because you're looking at every decision and you're thinking,
08:08you know, if that goes our way,
08:09then it can change the momentum of the game.
08:12And that's how you feel,
08:14because you're so wrapped up in the moment.
08:15And you feel that everything's then going against you.
08:18And I can totally understand the frustration.
08:19But when you're given the reason that,
08:21the impact is,
08:22is he going to get on the end of the ball?
08:23It's unlikely.
08:25But you only need to go back to last week as well.
08:26You know,
08:27Comanley got a penalty that was very soft last week
08:29against the United.
08:31I wasn't complaining about Val then.
08:32No, right.
08:33Let's get to the next one.
08:34The challenge by Jack Butland.
08:37This one,
08:38they checked to see if it was denying
08:40an obvious goal-scoring opportunity.
08:41Stevie Frail thinks it should have been a red card.
08:43What are your thoughts?
08:44I think that Jack Butland is so, so lucky in this situation.
08:50I think Bruce Anderson gets to the ball first,
08:52but then it comes off Butland.
08:53I think we may see better from this angle, you see.
08:56So they're both going.
08:57Butland comes out and he gets the ball first
09:00and it comes, Bruce Anderson nicks the ball onto Butland.
09:04Butland gets away with it.
09:05Really, really lucky.
09:06Tavenier's covering it as well.
09:07I was going to say,
09:07does a position of Tavenier mean that
09:09even if the free kick's given, the red card isn't?
09:11I think it does.
09:12Look, Jack Butland's taken a hell of a chance
09:13to come out because he needs to get that right.
09:15And I don't think necessarily that he gets it spot on.
09:19I think he gets lucky
09:20because Bruce Anderson kicks the ball off him.
09:22I don't know about the use of the word reckless.
09:26It's a genuine attempt to win the ball.
09:29He just gets, you can see, as it gets closer,
09:31he is getting desperate.
09:32He's thinking, blimey,
09:33Anderson may just get this,
09:35but he is going.
09:36Reckless would be a yellow card.
09:37Does Bruce Anderson touch the ball?
09:39Reckless would be a yellow card.
09:39Bruce Anderson touches the ball,
09:40but because it comes off Butland,
09:42doesn't hit his hand.
09:43He catches it onto Butland.
09:43Reckless is a yellow,
09:44by the way, not a red.
09:47Can I see that again?
09:49Can we see it again?
09:50It's coming.
09:52Had it not hit Butland,
09:53then he would have been banging trouble.
09:56I think Tavenier was covering though.
09:57Yeah, which probably would have saved him
09:59from the red card.
10:02That's the angle that shows.
10:04Does anybody get a pair of glasses?
10:05Yes, I don't know.
10:06I think you need to get your eyes tested.
10:08This angle here, I don't,
10:10I'm not sure this is.
10:11This angle you can't really see it so well from,
10:14but he does get his toe.
10:15He touches it onto Butland's knee.
10:18Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:19Possibly that.
10:20Thanks, there's your glasses back.
10:21Thanks for that.
10:22There you go, this one.
10:22There we go.
10:23Here we go.
10:24So onto his right knee.
10:26So he gets away with it.
10:28He gambles.
10:29He's, you know, he's lucky.
10:31Yeah.
10:32Ultimately, again,
10:32decisions that didn't change the outcome off the game
10:35because like this says.
10:36The bigger picture for Kilmarnock
10:37is they need to start winning games of football.
10:39They come off the back of a home game
10:40against Indy United
10:41against that we were struggling.
10:43Went to Tyne Castle,
10:44picked up a really, really good point.
10:45But it's no wins in nine now for Kilmarnock.
10:47They go to Petaudry,
10:48Aberdeen are flying.
10:50Jimmy Tallinn's managed to turn it around, Chris.
10:51He's managed to turn it around.
