00:01Perched on the edge of the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland,
00:05it's known as Santa Claus Village,
00:07and here the signs of Christmas are everywhere.
00:10From the Christmas lights to the reindeer,
00:13it's become a destination for visitors from all over the world,
00:17in spite of some frigid temperatures.
00:20It's absolutely magical. It's just once you're here,
00:23you're in Father Christmas Land.
00:25For me, it's very magical because it's kind of my second time
00:29seeing snow. Everything is just wonderful, like magic.
00:34That Christmas magic is on display inside as well,
00:38as Santa's elves sort through letters from children across the globe.
00:42The village's post office receives more than half a million wish lists every Christmas,
00:47and its peak up to 30,000 letters a day.
00:50Even though most people are now sending most of their messages through online ways,
00:57they still know that Santa Claus is an old-fashioned person and prefers the actual letters.
01:03This is in Spanish.
01:06As for the big guy himself, Santa is busy sorting through all the requests
01:10and evaluating who's been naughty and nice,
01:13and this year he appears to be grading on a curve.
01:16I think mostly they have been quite good almost all the time, and that's enough.
01:22Santa is also doing his best, he says, as he takes a dry run in his sleigh,
01:29training for a marathon Christmas Eve, hoping to bring joy to a world that could use a little magic.
01:37We will kick the sun.
01:39We will see you next time, Leo.
01:45Bye.
