In coastal cities such as Byblos and Batroun, residents posed for photos beside brightly lit Christmas trees, while in Beirut, crowds danced, shared food, and celebrated around a central Christmas display.
Lebanese citizens expressed prayers for peace, healing, and stability. “May God keep wars away and bring back those who are absent,” said one resident, reflecting widespread hopes for a calmer future. Others spoke of joy, recovery, and unity during the holiday season.
The celebrations come amid a fragile regional calm after Israel and Lebanon agreed to a U.S.-brokered ceasefire in 2024, following more than a year of cross-border fighting between Israel and Hezbollah. While tensions remain and both sides have accused each other of violations, the holiday atmosphere offered a moment of relief and optimism for many Lebanese families.
