00:00Things that I need in my trailer, cozy shoes and a good Bluetooth speaker.
00:16I like a heating pad and I like my tea.
00:19My needlepoint, I like to needlepoint and travel with my pillow.
00:23I am doing a lot of heavy work on the series Grotesquerie.
00:27So when I leave set and go into my trailer, the thing that puts the battery in my bag, that gives me the recharge I need, is my spouse.
00:36I said what I said.
00:38The most basic trailer there is.
00:40Like, you know, some place to change your clothes, go to the bathroom if you need to.
00:45But I like really super minimal.
00:47I'm like, come on, let's get going. I want to get out of here and get home.
00:50I don't spend time in my trailer, honestly, when I'm on set.
00:53I like to spend time on set.
00:55But I'll tell you one thing I do do, which is very embarrassing.
00:58I always take a teddy bear with me.
01:00Not on set, but to the hotel, because I'm always staying in hotels.
01:04It's not actually a teddy bear, it's a pig.
01:06It's a pink pig that I go to bed with.
01:09I have a wonderful Quixote trailer and one end is a sitting area with one of those gas fireplaces.
01:18And the other is with a makeup chair and, you know, all of this.
01:23I mean, I'm just so excited every day. It's unbelievable.
01:26I think I'd like to be a tailor or be in fashion somewhere.
01:31I'd like to make clothes. I'd like to be around that.
01:34I'd be a hairdresser. I wouldn't, you know, wash it or blow dried. I'd cut it.
01:40Oh, I'd like to be a sniper.
01:42Well, the reason I said that is because Jenny Snyder-Ehrman, who created Matlock,
01:48she created Maddie to be a sniper.
01:50She was always going to be pointed in the right direction and then she would solve it.
01:55I would love to train Belgian Malinois dogs for the military.
02:01I would be the president so I could just fix some stuff real quick
02:06and get some stuff in order in the way that it should be and then I'd clock out.
02:10One very productive day.
02:11The television performance that made me want to become an actor was when I was five years old.
02:17I was watching television with my grandmother.
02:19I saw the most gorgeous black woman that I had ever seen in my little five years of living.
02:24She had on a long red dress and her eyelashes looked like butterflies.
02:28And I said, Grandmama, who is that?
02:31She said, baby, that's Lola Falana.
02:34And I felt like in that moment my destiny was stamped on the canvas of my imagination.
02:39I look at my grandmother and I say, that's what I want to be.
02:43I want to be black, fabulous, and on TV. And I am.
02:48Frances McDormand in Fargo and Uma Thurman in Kill Bill and Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns.
02:55Gosh, the first name that popped into my mind was Joanne Woodward.
02:58I remember seeing her in films years ago, Three Faces of Eve and also Shirley MacLaine.
03:04She was in Children's Hour with Audrey Hepburn. And I remember watching her in that.
03:10And Vivian Lee in Streetcar Named Desire with Brando.
03:15You know, I actually love Kathy Bates. I love her.
03:19She's just one of those people that you instantly believe. When she cries, it makes you cry.
03:24I think she's like a big frontrunner for me.
03:27You know, I love Shirley MacLaine in Sweet Charity. And now that I have her hair, I think that's why I thought of it.
03:35I loved that movie. I used to watch it on TV.
03:37You won't believe this, but I grew up with no television. And I didn't watch movies.
03:42But the film that I saw that made me want to become an actress or understand the possibilities of film was a film called L'Aventura by an Italian director called Antonioni.
03:55And for a long time, to this day actually, I want to be an Italian actress. I really want to be Anna Magnani.
