00:00Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are apologizing for writing character letters on behalf of their
00:05That 70s show co-star Danny Masterson. Kutcher, Kunis, Kurtwood Smith, Deborah Rupp and David
00:12Traynor, all of whom worked alongside Masterson in That 70s show, wrote to the court as character
00:17references to offer Masterson leniency. The letters were made public following his sentencing of 30
00:23years to life in prison for raping two women in 2003. In his letter obtained by The Hollywood
00:29reporter, Kutcher referred to his co-star as a role model with exceptional character and explained
00:34that Masterson was the reason Kutcher didn't fall into drugs. Kunis wrote in her letter that Masterson
00:40had been an exceptional older brother figure to her. She also credited his avoidance of drugs,
00:44which inspired her to stay away from substances. The actors took to Instagram to address the pain
00:50they may have caused with their letters, noting they did not intend to hurt anyone.
00:54We are aware of the pain that has been caused by the character letters that we wrote on behalf of
01:00Danny Masterson. Kunis continued, the letters were not written to question the legitimacy of the
01:06judicial system or the validity of the jury's ruling. They were intended for the judge to read
01:11and not to undermine the testimony of the victims or re-traumatize them in any way. We would never
01:17want to do that. The couple concluded their message to viewers saying,
01:21our hearts go out to every single person who's ever been a victim of sexual assault,
01:25sexual abuse or rape. For more updates to this story, head to THR.com.
