00:01Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum ruled out Monday that the tariffs on imports on Asian goods could lead to inflation in the country.
00:08Sheinbaum assured that the measure would not have an impact on the prices of basic goods and supplies
00:13and affirmed that the tariff adjustments were designed to avoid impacts on domestic consumption.
00:18She also informed that in cases where there was a risk of price increases, the previous conditions were maintained
00:23so as not to pass the costs on to consumers.
00:26On the other hand, the Secretary of Economy pointed out that the measure seeks to protect 350,000 jobs
00:32in different productive sectors and avoid impacts derived from imports.
00:44There won't be inflation in food prices as a result of these measures, nor in many other products.
00:51In fact, many intermediate products have been left with their previous tariff rates, which have not been increased.
00:59Therefore, the objective is to avoid job losses and increase employment through other instruments
