Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said there is currently no evidence that the Bondi Beach father-son shooters were linked to ISIS or any wider terror cell, indicating the attack appears to have been carried out by the two men acting alone, driven by extremist ideology. Albanese stressed that while further information could still emerge, investigators have found no sign of collusion or organised networks behind the shooting. The attackers were identified as 50-year-old Sajid Akram, who was shot dead at the scene, and his son Naveed Akram, 24, who remains in a coma under police custody. At least 40 people are still hospitalised, including two police officers in serious but stable condition. The family reportedly believed the pair had gone fishing at the time of the attack. Authorities have not yet disclosed a clear motive, and investigations remain ongoing.

02:00I'm satisfied that there were two offenders involved in yesterday's incident. One is deceased. The second is in critical but stable condition in hospital at the moment. The offenders are a 50-year-old and 24-year-old male who are father and son. The 50-year-old is deceased. The 24-year-old is currently in hospital at the moment.
02:23As part of the investigation, we conducted two search warrants last night, one at Bonnie Rigg and a second at Camp C. The 50-year-old male is a licensed firearms holder. He has six firearms licensed to him.
02:38We are satisfied that we have six firearms from the scene yesterday, but also as a result of the search run at the Camp C address. Ballistics and forensic investigation will determine this morning that those six firearms are the six that were licensed to that man, but also that they were used in the offence yesterday at Bonnie Rigg.
02:58We will continue to investigate this matter thoroughly. It's important for the community to have the reassurance that New South Wales Police working with our Commonwealth partners will not stop until we understand the reasons behind this senseless incident and take any available action that we need to do.
