00:00Actor-director and political activist Rob Reiner and his wife were found dead at their

00:07Los Angeles home on Sunday, with police investigating the case as an apparent homicide.

00:13While authorities initially declined to identify the two individuals, Los Angeles Mayor Karen

00:18Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom later confirmed that Reiner, 78, and his wife

00:24Michelle, 68, had died.

00:28Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said patrol officers responding

00:33to a call late Sunday afternoon discovered two bodies inside the residence.

00:38Detectives from the LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division are leading the investigation and

00:44were awaiting a search warrant to conduct a thorough examination of the property.

00:48The LAPD described the case as an investigation into an apparent homicide, but said no suspects

00:55or persons of interest had been identified as of Sunday night.

00:58There are going to be many family members interviewed.

01:01I'm not going to confirm whether someone's being interviewed at this time or not.

01:04We're going to try to speak to every family member that we can to get to the facts of this

01:09investigation.

01:10At this time, the Los Angeles Police Department is not seeking anyone as a suspect or as a

01:15person of interest or in any other manner.

01:17And we will not be doing that until we conduct our investigation and we move forward.

01:21The causes of death will be determined and released by the Los Angeles County Medical

01:26Examiner's Office.

01:28Reiner was best known as an actor for his role on the television comedy, All in the Family,

01:33before building a prolific career as a director.

01:36His films include The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, Misery, and The

01:42American President.

01:44His wife, Michelle Singer Reiner, was a photographer who shot the image of Donald Trump used on the

01:49cover of Trump, The Art of the Deal.

01:52A native of New York City, Reiner was the son of the late comedian and writer Carl Reiner,

01:57and was also widely known for his political activism.
