01:21i just visited with janelle in north carolina and i've been back for a little bit i'm having a
01:40workout today i got to keep myself young i have a wife 10 years younger than me almost 11 years younger
01:49than me i don't want to be the old man in the family
01:59i'm really trying to focus on aging gracefully strength training simply for the purpose of just
02:07staying well and healthy knock knock hi hon hi it's raining finally

02:29i just did four pull-ups with that on my back you didn't oh my gosh i couldn't do it again sorry i
02:34can't impress you with that but yeah i'm a little winded boy it's been a workout so i'm tired but i want
02:40to see with a woman a beautiful woman watching me how many people i just oh

02:57cody always was um like obsessed about working out always obsessed it was an obsession i thought i don't
03:03remember him working out in our early years of marriage as much as he does now he's in pretty
03:12good shape he works hard all right all right all right all right you're good i'm impressed
03:18i feel like cody working out is kind of icing on the cake i appreciate that he takes care of himself
03:24but really what is the core of it is is who he is as a person something that really always uh makes
03:33me just go around with cody is when he's a good dad i'm looking buff yeah i'm a little sweaty you
03:41don't want to touch me do you i'll kiss your lips
03:44oh wow yeah hi hi how's it going oh it's going good one i just thought maybe we'd have a little
03:55private moment you could tell me kind of how things went oh uh it was good i mean
04:05should i sit down it's a fast trip i would have you stand up yeah he's back from north
04:12carolina from talking to janelle and want to check in with him and kind of talk to him and see
04:17how he feels about it you're feeling okay it was a good trip and uh and you know you just don't know
04:25what to expect when you're meeting with an axe i just was like well i just want to get real here
04:31with you and just say i'm sorry i just apologize oh you were saying this yeah yeah to her i thought
04:39she was generous with how easy she made me there's a lot under the bridge you know so janelle was
04:46easy going with you i thought she was just kind about it really and i even thanked her for being
04:52kind about it because this is it's it's a journey thing it's it's it's a it's about just getting
05:00things right i mean but i had to get my mindset in a funny place like literally i had to just get
05:09prayerful and say hey god you know i i gotta forgive so that i can apologize help me out here after doing
05:20this with janelle do you how are you like are you feeling like what your choice in deciding to do this
05:31was the right thing to do to be fair to janelle i thought she made it easy enough yeah is that well
05:38not not not about janelle no i'm moving forward you like does this afterwards what no matter what
05:46anybody says or anybody's reaction i mean this is really about whether or not you feel like god is
05:53witnessing to you it was the right thing to do that yes i'm apologizing yeah and and just feels so much
06:02better good who cody has been the last few years is really not who cody is cody without the anger
06:16is a really good guy to say that it went as good as it could be with janelle i think is a little bit
06:26understatement there was a lot of grace there i'm going to be fair i think the easiest of the chores was
06:34going to see janelle and apologize to her so when i go see christine i don't expect it to be easy
06:41necessarily who knows um with with christine it could be it could go even smoother it could go um
06:50not as smooth i don't i don't know she could be extremely angry and really push back
06:57or another extreme she could just not take it serious at all
07:02and for me this is very serious a couple words i want to use are sober and pious
07:12it's not for me to go joking around about this and so i i'm just hoping of the same kind of
07:20tenderness and grace that i've experienced with it with janelle but i am prepared for a very different
07:28experience we might could scoot the griddles down more yeah where they're not right in the sunshine
07:40shawnee and i are working on getting everything prepped today for the breakfast that we're having
07:45here tomorrow we're doing a fundraiser for jen and her family
07:50jen's husband sean has been battling cancer for two years every bit of what we make is going to be
08:01going directly to jen and her hospital bills for nearly 14 years jen has been the person who has been
08:10like my rock she is there to do and support and just be there with me and cry with me she just is that
08:19person and she's just always been there for me
08:28she just deserves to have the support
08:31it is probably one of my least favorite things
08:36when when people do things like this for me i love doing things like this for others
08:42but i keep going back to you but what about what about them what about you know and so i i struggle
08:49with that i'll be over there around 7 7 15 we'll do the bike ride we'll come back here we'll make
08:56pancakes what about pre-mixing eggs oh no we're not doing scrambled eggs right we're doing just fried
09:02eggs i think fried eggs will be easier then we don't have to we don't have the mess of mixing them and
09:06everything yeah yeah shawnee is the best support system okay jen might actually be mad amber might
09:14actually be mad shawnee is one of my three best support systems i mean like i don't know if four
09:23women were ever created to be together and not have a matching husband you know like it is us i swear
09:30so when i look at the four of us and how well we work together it is completely different than like
09:45me and my sister wives were
09:49could have been really cool if our sister wife relationship could have been like this i will
09:55never be sister wives with these ladies because um well let's see two of them are married already
10:01to different men uh one of them is dating somebody um oh also i have no interest in being a polygamist
10:07again so yeah the sister wife dynamic is over for me um so yeah that's never gonna happen
10:16who's all coming then jen jen and amber and ron ron's going
10:22what's going on with ron have you been on dates yes we have been out on dates yes
10:34i'm really not one to put labels on things because like what do you call a date what does
10:40it mean when it's a date versus when it's a let's spend some time together you know what i mean so
10:46it's like why put a label on it the whole point is we're just getting to know each other
10:53i'm really excited that ron's going to come down for this fundraiser um i this is the first time
10:59that he's come down to my part of the world and um it's just going to be kind of cool to share it
11:05with him and just kind of let him in a little bit to to my world you know and meet my friends and just
11:12kind of hang out in my space so i'm really excited about it i just hope we have a lot of fun and it goes
11:18really well
11:25my friends angela and christina are in town first time they've come to north carolina to see me
11:30i love this place like i love it they have cute little like their coffees are good they have good
11:34food i just recently had a a sit down with cody my head still is kind of like what the heck happened
11:42because it was so it was intense
11:44since i saw you guys last cody came and i think i told you cody was going to come
11:51he came to north carolina right yeah but you just had a big question mark in your head
11:56but i'm like okay i'll go see what he has to say because i'm like
11:59mm-hmm all right i agreed to it because i didn't want to wear just regular clothes i mean i bet she
12:06looked like a queen i'm sure she did what did he wear a visor
12:15i think he had a suit jacket on like he was like a little dressed up more elevated oh yeah
12:20interesting man bun no man bun no what it like what was your energy going into it were you nervous
12:28were you excited were you annoyed i was just like i was kind of like i just want to i was really
12:34intending to sit down listen to him for 10 minutes and leave i just really i needed him to say his thing
12:38and i was going to leave right and robin didn't come with him right no i mean he might she might have
12:43been somewhere to like sit down with the three of you or he just wanted to talk no because she speaks cody
12:47you know in case i needed translating when cody said he wanted to come for whatever to see me i
12:57said that's fine but you can't bring robin don't want i have no interest in having her here i just
13:01don't think she really has to be involved in anything cody has to say to me and if he has something to
13:06say to me that involves her i really don't think i need to hear it i just don't i had this list i mean
13:12why now why all of a sudden like all these things right and we got there and um
13:20it's like i i actually left after like an hour and a half and it took me like a while to decompress
13:26the whole thing because it was so intense like it was and it wasn't intense bad it was just intense
13:32did it sound disingenuous no it sounded genuine okay were you just like shocked at all the things that
13:38were coming out of his mouth or were you taking a like no i knew that it was going to most likely
13:43be some sort of an apology i didn't know why he was coming he's filled with guilt i mean he went
13:48from this charming guy to so he was like his old self yeah like i don't like it was like a different
13:53version yeah this is who like he was not this intense but he was very kind like that that's how
13:58he used to be there was a part of me that really good needed to hear some of it i've realized and i
14:04told him i said it's been good to hear some of these things is there any part of you that would
14:09ever go back to cody i don't have a lot of trust with cody that this conversation's gonna go well
14:27it's weird because we haven't really had a conversation since i left not really it's in my
14:32hands to make sure nothing get she doesn't get harmed by it here we are at gear up bike and sports
14:48this is jen and sean's shop we're all just getting ready for the bike ride morning ron you're gonna be
14:58getting jumped hi how are you look at you being all festive i look good in yellow i didn't even
15:09know that yeah he's here he showed up and i'm really excited it'll be fun it'll be fun to um
15:19yeah it'll just be fun to have him meet all my friends and for my friends to meet him
15:23yellow is good we love yellow how's it going good did you sleep good yeah yeah i slept well yeah
15:32i had like four hours i was going to get a job in mid-round
15:38i'll just caffeine it up today a lot
15:46i know i was trying to decide if i wanted to bring a jacket
15:49oh this is shawnee this is ron hi ron nice to meet you
15:55do you have a helmet you have a helmet did you bring a helmet are you gonna you don't have to wear
16:00it it's completely up to you i don't think you don't like to wear it um
16:04um you're like a woman on the edge well it's like i do if you feel like you just put your hands out
16:14break your elbows that's funny i mean we're just getting to know each other
16:22it's just comfortable thank you thank you all for coming um and doing this bike ride to help support jen
16:29um and her family please please please be very careful on the road that's what i care about most
16:38in this moment i've really enjoyed getting to know ron over the past few months and just kind of like
16:44like how he thinks and his dynamic and you know like who he is as a person and it's it's just been
16:54really cool i've really enjoyed it
16:57i'm really glad that ron took the time out of his schedule and his weekend to come down here
17:14to the right to the right you know it just makes me feel like i i matter to him
17:26these e-bikes are too big to pop a wheelie i think too heavy it's like
17:33just gonna be kind of interesting to to watch him and see how he is in my world if he's comfortable
17:43or if he's not comfortable or you know i i don't know it's just gonna be it's i'm gonna be very
17:50observant today look i mean i think at some point i thought what if he like what if we worked this out
18:07i feel like we've needed knowledge branch the entire family
18:11and janelle you get the high owner and being the person i felt the safest with to start offering
18:17that olive branch oh we did we had a good we had a we had a great like like i i i'm grateful for what
18:25we had yeah i really am it's just one of those thoughts you know you have when you sit down with
18:30an ex you're like
18:33he wasn't trying to get you back was he oh no i don't think so there's like he wasn't trying to
18:38leave the door open for that no i don't think so because he really i mean he really can you know
18:41he says all the time how much he loves robin and she's his true love or whatever and i'm like that's
18:45great you guys can have each other but you're i mean cordial and you guys have so many shared
18:52family members and everything's going to be hard to avoid i'm sure that you know right i mean i'm sure
18:57didn't even ask how the kids it seems like an angle to get to the kids he wants to soften
19:03i don't know i do think he's had some sort of i said when i said to him have you gone to a 12-step
19:09program i couldn't figure out why all of a sudden like he was having some sort of remorse you know
19:13what i mean like but it just sort of felt like that like he was really trying to kind of write
19:17some of the things like that he'd done wrong i'm glad that he apologized for some of the stuff he's
19:23said in the past there's a lot more though that needs to be said you know i had wanted to bring up the
19:30kids with him when we met i think they really feel like their dad didn't treat their mothers fair
19:39like there's just a lot of things right there's a lot of things over the years so now that that's
19:44done with are we going to get spiritually divorced yep it's in the works so what do you have to do
19:49i'm going to go meet with him in person and okay and you just won't be very fast i mean it won't be
19:54very long this feels like the timing is right now the property is done we've set our piece and now it
20:00feels like it's time to really cut that and move on well that's exciting yeah is there like a
20:07it won't be a divorce party oh you should have or independence party or yes i think i forever cody
20:13brown party or i think it's gonna be yeah you don't want to spiritually have to be up there forever with
20:19him we'll have to go somewhere to celebrate what can we call it we call it speaking we can just
20:26trick her and be like surprise you get two minutes to talk to every single one of these
20:31uh it's divorce like it's basically our version of a divorce right okay i guess yeah yeah good for
20:38you i mean the financial ties are dissolved cody and i meeting sort of put a few of the little
20:45pieces that were missing out of the chapter of the book that's closed but i don't really care
20:51what cody thinks about me seeking a spiritual release i don't care
20:57i don't really know if i'll feel any different once the spiritual release
21:00is done but intellectually i'll know that there's a difference
21:08it'd be a good idea for me to get to know david because i've seen him make a lot of comments about me
21:12not even knowing me so i'm like well david you really don't know me
21:18uh thanks for meeting with me suck those beers down because i got some fun stuff to share with you
21:23oh my god now i'm nervous no no don't be nervous i promise
21:34david and i are in vegas uh cody reached out to me and wanted to
21:38chat have a little what did he call extend an olive branch meeting up with cody has me doubting
21:45myself and my ability to be strong and i don't like that either i'm very frustrated with myself or even
21:51thinking that i can't do this conversation it's weird because we haven't really had a conversation
21:56since i left not really not really i don't think so i just don't know what's gonna happen
22:02i told christine there's two ways to go it can go really good or it can go really bad
22:07i'm curious why so we're hoping that it'll go good it'll be okay and that's where our level's at
22:14expectation okay if it goes better than that great great and even if it goes worse than that it's still
22:21okay because we'll just pick up the piece again and try this again yep so then dill okay i love you
22:27love you i got your back i know i wouldn't do this without you
22:34it's in my hands to make sure nothing get she doesn't get harmed by it
22:40i don't have a lot of trust with cody that this conversation's gonna go well
22:57i'm sitting here in las vegas i've uh i asked christine to meet me i'm here basically in the
23:06simplest of terms to apologize to christine
23:12i asked david to come along it'd be a good idea for me to get to know david because i've seen him
23:17make a lot of comments about me not even knowing me so i'm like well david you really don't know me
23:25it could go any direction but there's there's been a lot of hurt in the family and i'm guilty of
23:31of so much of it and the reason i'm afraid is because others are guilty too but that's not
23:37why i'm here to focus on that i'm like i want to wash that away
23:44las vegas has always been will probably always be very nostalgic for me i mean our family thrived
23:51here robin is i think she's a little nervous about the experience that i can have she's going to worry
23:58about me and i can't stop her from worrying about me and it never occurred to me to go because it's
24:03always been like cody has had his individual relationships with each wife even though they're
24:09now ex-wives it's it's i don't know i i'm like it's still sort of the same not really though i don't know
24:19it's so weird i don't know hi how are you
24:27i'm okay how are you good i'm i'm relaxing in a cabana poolside
24:36we're way past due for a time of healing so here we go yeah but you got to realize that everybody has
24:43their journey this is a shared responsibility between everyone i would just be patient with it
24:49and try not to react thank you i want you to know that that i don't i don't want you to feel pressure
24:57i just you know it's just i'm here to do it this is reason i'm here i'm here to do it
25:02david isn't the wild card in this christine is more of a wild card depending on her mood is she
25:15going to be really really light is she going to be very uncomfortable so she gets silly or is she
25:20going to be get really serious with me i don't know
25:23i don't like hard conversations i've never liked hard conversations and hard conversations with david
25:33are great they're fine but hard conversations with cody weren't fine they weren't they were terrible
25:43christine's do she's nervous about the whole deal um she's trying to help her get through it because
25:50this is a big deal i don't know what to believe with cody anymore i don't know what to trust
25:56i don't trust him at all to be honest so he says he just wants to i don't even know i don't know i
26:02don't know what's happening i don't know i know that he's reached out he wants to talk i just have to
26:07keep reminding myself and he was a great guy when i married him cody was the kid's hero he was their
26:13hero he would come home and the kids would all gather around him and he'd play with them keep going
26:20catch him it was just cute but that did change
26:30like yeah everything changed cody's an adult i'm an adult we should be able to be around each other

28:09do when he needs to do it and i just appreciate that it's a good sign of a good person to just
28:13like pitch in like that we'll find out if he's a good cook

31:50table i think the last time we talked about our relationship may very well have been when she told
31:56me we're done she's done and she wants to move you're like i'm divorced i'm leaving i'm done with
32:04you you're out of my house you never tried to have really good relationship with these other people
32:11and that's the reason i'm pissed off i mean i didn't react really positively to any of that
32:17i am walking into an environment where trust has been killed i mean we don't have trust but i am
32:22walking into an environment where i have said i am offering an olive branch so with the olive branch
32:29i'm going to extend the hand of fellowship and it might go to a hug
32:35thanks lexi hey hey that's a really big table i was too big of a table so how's it going no i was
32:44telling david that we needed to have one of those when the kids were younger how are you david not too

32:53married i want to respect their marriage i'm just hoping he will not interrupt my effort to apologize

33:18i love the sense of community here that you get in a small town that you
33:46don't get in a big city okay i got it sean came jen told him you have to come you're not coming to
33:55the bike ride but you have to come to this this big of it a healing journey you know to make sure
34:02that he heals so he can be around for his family it has definitely taken an emotional toll on both of
34:10them at times you know um but they're both like getting through it mary is like like a sister to
34:19me people don't understand and i try to let her be and try to stay out of as much as i can and then
34:25i'll help her and i'll do things for her but i see love like you won't believe i see so so much of a
34:30caring person and people don't realize that and understand that but she means a lot to me like the
34:35world i know much she means to my wife they're like that that that team you know that strong bond
34:41and uh so i just i adore her to death hold on ready catch
34:50it's just it's a great day i didn't i didn't expect this and i'm just grateful
34:56we called curd we did it all audrey do you want to eat i'm really lucky to have such an amazing
35:03best friend she's always there for me and i'm so lucky for that requested a picture with me and
35:08shawnee first of course they did we don't know who they are but we definitely want a picture with
35:13okay with our yellows and our pinks very very spring all right one two three okay got it
35:21yay i'm glad that ron came um um i i yeah i'm glad ron came like i think it's cute he's just like
35:32oh what can i do to help and he's just helping i think that ron is a really nice guy and as soon as
35:38mary had mentioned to him that we were doing this he's like i'm down i'll be there and i just i love
35:43that i thought he was a really nice guy when i first met him at speed dating and i thought you know
35:47what they would get along really well and they tend to so it worked out really well you know it's
35:52different dating in your in your 50s um but you just you know i've been on a lot of dates uh last
35:58couple years but um i love it when you meet someone who's genuine and and very nice and easy to you know
36:03easy to talk to and um you know with mary's like just her inviting me down here made me feel great and
36:08she's been you know she's been great how you doing you know and um she let me help i just said let me
36:12help give me something to do and so that was really fun but i i do appreciate um i can tell
36:17mary's just really genuine and uh just a great great person it was super fun it was a really good day
36:24and ron came and that was super fun too i loved being able to you know just see how he interacts with
36:34kind of in my world you know like with my friends it's like and then also do my friends like him and
36:39does he you know what i mean and and i don't know he fits
36:51she seems amiable and he seems amiable my best guess is that christine's gotten over it and moving
36:58on very happily or and or david has said hey baby you know you ought to talk to the axe of yours and
37:05maybe get some healing we we've we've lost trust but we're trying to establish
37:11friendly and we do that with a olive branch christine's not a confrontational person usually
37:18she can get pushed she usually is not confrontational so she's probably
37:23wants you know my reaction seeing her is that she wants something amiable
37:30why'd you want to meet together i wanted to apologize with all my heart
37:39ah
37:48for how we broke up for how it all went down i want to apologize for being angry about it
37:54i want to apologize for uh the struggles that's not necessarily okay let's go bam bam bam let's just
38:08do it then i'm all for this i'm actually all for a conversation that goes bam bam bam bam bam bam
38:15just the hard times i also want to just acknowledge the good times
38:30i want you to be able to heal
38:36and and healing will probably can maybe happen i can't tell you how it's going to happen or what
38:43but but i just feel like if i apologize you can get in that space where you feel like you're healing
38:54also understand this it's in the past it's in the past yeah it's okay but an apology doesn't
39:00apologies are nice but i'm saying it's okay if i wouldn't have messed it up then you wouldn't have

39:19you i see it from a guy's point of view i really do i get where you're coming from in a lot of ways
39:27i appreciate the sort of the vote of uh grace yeah david thank you i appreciate what what david's
39:35sharing um it's only it's the only difficulty in apologizing to my ex while her husband is here
39:44his that he wants to be involved in the conversation and it's not an apology to him or from him
39:50i um i i apologize here's the huge one for saying i didn't love you

40:07again you just gotta let that go look i i remember what it was like but i've got a new husband
40:23here now that's weird man that's a weird thing to say i have a husband right here now you know to
40:29i used to love you i can't imagine what's going through david's head right now i'm like oh that's
40:33that's a look i know that doesn't affect me that's you that is on you
40:41next time on sister wives this is my husband here this is so weird you know damn well you
40:47loved her because you wouldn't have gotten married you wouldn't have had all these kids if you didn't
40:50love her there is so much water in the bridge i'm here to apologize start with your kids there
40:56just seems to be this like constant piling and piling we talked about the spiritual divorce
