Rabbi Mendy Korer of Chabad-Lubavitch of Islington paid tribute to his friend, London-born rabbi Eli Schlanger, who was killed in the terror attack at Bondi Beach, describing him as a deeply respected figure within the Jewish community.

00:00Rabbi Eli grew up in London. He went to the Jewish schools here in London and
00:05educated to become a rabbi and a rabbi particularly of the Chabad mission to go
00:11and make Judaism accessible and available and welcoming to anyone around
00:15the whole world and he lived his mission in Australia touching Jews
00:22making them feel close and warm and be able to access the Jewish community and
00:31whichever types of barriers they may have felt and and was just a heart of gold
00:36that was able to go and and allow people to be welcomed in the community and to
00:44be taken so brutally at such a special ceremony is something really horrific
