00:00I want to say
00:30we have done something that no one has ever done we have performed for over 10 million people in person that's not like oh 10 million people watched a TV show which is pretty amazing too we performed for 10 million plus people and I think about every single one of you as little kids
01:00decided that dancing was your calling and the moment that you first saw a band and thought man I want to I want to save up for an instrument every single one of us has picked professions that categorically people for the majority of the time they tell you you shouldn't do it they tell you you should not try to do this you have to love
01:30you are given along the way by oftentimes people that you respect people you trust people in the field everyone in dance everyone in music will tell everyone younger if there's anything else you can do
01:42do that
01:44and so I'll see you
01:48getting rejected not getting the job not getting the part not getting the solo
01:53I'll see all of those things that happened all along the way the doors that were shut the doors that were open the windows you pried open
02:01and then sometimes I'll see you when you're older and I'll think about what
02:07what you're gonna tell your family or the people that you mentor because every single person in here
02:14has the spirit to mentor others and to tell them yes do it try it go for it if you have that same love for it
02:23and I think about whether that's to your grandchildren or to the little neighbor kid that just wants to talk to you about what that was like
02:30everyone likes to talk about phenomenons like the heirs tour almost as if it was
02:39pieces falling into place in some sort of accidental confluence of events that just happened right
02:45when I'm thinking about the people that are in this circle
02:49I don't think about it as pieces that fell into place I think of each of you as like tectonic plates on the earth
02:57that took millions of of micro decisions and forces of you pushing and pushing inch by inch closer together
03:10and the heirs tour wasn't when all the pieces fell into place that was just when every single one of us
03:16had done so much work to where this tour was just when we all clicked together
03:20it is our job to make this look accidental and it is our job to make this look effortless
03:29but I just want every single one of you to know that I in no way shape or form
03:33look at this as the pieces just falling into place you put the pieces where they are
03:38this is the biggest challenge any of us have ever done
03:44tonight we complete that challenge
03:46I think I came up with the idea for the heirs tour about two years before
04:13the tour started there were two main factors that culminated in the heirs tour both of them were
04:20unpleasant we think that these bad things are happening to me or to us if you flip it around
04:28correctly and you react in a certain way those things can be happening for you
04:33the first one being my entire catalog of my first six albums was sold out from under me to somebody
04:43else and I decided to sort of defiantly re-record all of my music you know when you revisit something
04:53you go back into that world all this work is so indicative of the time I was in in my life I feel
04:59like I'm reading my old diaries thinking about all the different girls I was until I was this one so that
05:06planted a little seed inherently in my mind the idea of celebrating your past I think the second factor being
05:13the pandemic we built a home studio in my house I clung to songwriting as a sort of life raft stop it stop stop I'm recording vocals
05:24folklore came out three or four months into the pandemic we put out evermore four months later I hadn't toured in five years and the fans had created such demand for it
05:35and I just thought to myself what if I did a tour that celebrated all of these different moments in
05:48my life and career where you have chapters divided up by albums and everything changes when the chapter
05:56changes she had said to us this is going to be over three hours and we were just like oh my god how do we do
06:03this not just planning but executing a tour of this size is mind-boggling the process of putting
06:13together this tour happened in many different phases all over the world happening simultaneously
06:19all at once you had me doing my physical training six months before we even go into rehearsals at this
06:25time the choreographers goes in with the dancers we've got the staging and the production design happening
06:29simultaneously all to coincide with the same start date the first day of rehearsal she got out of her car and had tears in her eyes already
06:39I mean I've been doing this for almost 20 years
06:48a bunch of different artists I have never seen that I have never seen the boss come into rehearsal
06:54crying with tears of happiness and passion about their job we haven't done what we love on a stage in
07:02five years let's go do this the fans have been so amazing and are so excited for the tour I wanted to
07:08over serve the fans that was my main goal I wanted to over serve them in terms of the amount of songs they
07:15were going to hear the length of the show what kinds of production they were going to see different
07:21styles of dance different worlds of dance wardrobe how far I was going to push myself oh my god okay my
07:30friend yeah when you come up with a goal like that you just have to make a choice and decide there's
07:36no going back on that choice good morning America it's Taylor I wanted to tell you something that I've
07:50been so excited about for a really long time I've been planning for ages and I finally get to tell you
07:55I'm going back on tour oh my god we're doing something very stressful today today is ERA's
08:03pre-seal day 192
08:07oh my god I think I thought fans would be excited about the idea of the ERA's tour
08:31this is not real yes it is yes really this was a completely different thing that I've ever
08:38experienced fans of Taylor Swift crashed the Ticketmaster website today the demand to see
08:45Taylor at that point I don't think anybody in the industry expert or otherwise would comprehend
08:51there was enough demand to do 255 stadiums I'm actually not in Glendale I'm in Swift City
09:01officials actually changed the name from Glendale to Swift City in honor of the megastar kicking off
09:08her tour so we go from uh detail oriented methodical exhaustive process and all of a sudden in the last
09:16week leading up to the first show everybody is firing on all cylinders and then we had opening night
09:22I'm about to say something to you that I've been just thinking about for years you know
09:29welcome to the ERA's tour
09:31truly everyone will tell you that none of us knew what the ERA's tour was becoming
09:39Kansas City welcome to the ERA's tour she's a once-in-a-generation type of artist I would
09:46almost compare it to the Beatles when people start comparing this to like the Beatles and MJ you just
09:50you just don't expect that what you're getting into is going to be that yeah Seattle Washington
09:58welcome to the ERA's tour yeah her shows the crowd is kind of always at bananas level
10:04this is a whole nother gear you know or two all the Swifties started jumping around during the song
10:11they caused the equivalent of a 2.3 magnitude earthquake Los Angeles California
10:17Taylor Swift she's more than just a pop icon she's a business powerhouse Swift's U.S. tour could
10:25generate 4.6 billion dollars in consumer spending that's more than the GDPs of Granada Belize and
10:31Tonga combined something experts have dubbed Swiftnomics the Taylor Swift takeover seen across
10:38the country leading to the emergence of Taylor Gating even fans without tickets are traveling to tour
10:44stops I've never seen this before in my life it's like one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
10:49it's like Woodstock but without the drugs the thing that's so special it is that community where they
10:57get into that stadium and celebrate not just what's happening on that stage but what's happening
11:04with them and how they honor each other and love each other it just became this movement
11:11I thought that this would be a tour I was very proud of this is like more than a tour
11:30it's like a force to be reckoned with in global culture so never in my life did I think we would
11:37have a terrorist plot we are continuing to follow breaking news three upcoming Taylor Swift concerts
11:48in Vienna Austria have been canceled after Austrian authorities arrested two suspects who they say had
11:55plans to carry out a terrorist attack at the concert site according to officials they found chemical
12:00explosives detonators and ISIS propaganda at the main suspects home now the big question is what's going
12:08to happen to the rest of her European tour well at this point all of her shows are going ahead as
12:13scheduled including her concert right here in London
12:16we're in London at my hotel and um basically it's just kind of a weird feeling going into these last
12:31five shows in Europe because it sort of feels like we've done like 128 shows so far but this is the first
12:38one where I feel like I don't know like I'm like skating on thin ice or something we just had this
12:44we've had a series of very violent scary things happen to the tour like we we dodged like a massacre
12:56situation and so I've just been kind of all over the place like there was this horrible attack in
13:04Liverpool um at a Taylor Swift themed dance party and it was little kids that
13:13the latest on a knife attack that has left at least three children dead multiple people injured at a
13:32Taylor Swift themed dance class in England the youngsters aged six to eleven were dancing to
13:37Taylor Swift songs when an attacker armed with a knife launched a frenzied assault I'm gonna um like
13:45meet some of these families tonight and put on a pop concert you know
13:53gonna be fine because when I meet them I'm not gonna do this I swear to God
14:01I'm not gonna do this I'm gonna be smiling so any of this gets out of the way before you ever go on
14:10stage you lock it off three and a half hours they don't have to worry about you it's like you're
14:15like a pilot flying the plane and if you were like oh there's turbulence up ahead I don't know if we're
14:21actually gonna land in Dallas like I'm gonna I'm gonna try hard but I don't know if I can actually
14:27like figure out how to land through this turbulence like everyone on the plane is gonna freak out you
14:32just have to have a calm cool collected tone of like we will be landing in in Dallas at 6.05 p.m.
14:39got a little turbulence up ahead but it's nothing we haven't seen before just keep your seatbelts
14:43fastened and welcome to the Aeros tour
14:46there's something special about this tour this iteration this combination of people this show
15:13and I think about like how much love everybody here is pouring into what they do the people who
15:19build the stage and hang the PA and the people who wash the clothes and play the instruments and do all
15:24the dancing and the only thing we're trying to do is to make the world go away for a little while and
15:29make people feel seen and let them scream lyrics that they love at the top of their lungs it's so
15:34beautiful to find something so positive that can be an escape for people like this can and it's amazing
15:41that what we've been a part of can do that for people so what happened in Vienna and the idea of
15:48someone being able to rewrite the entire headline of this whole experience with one awful act I feel
15:53so grateful that it got stopped but I also felt just so horrible for the fans
15:58I know that it sounds so stupid to be so upset about this but like that environment of like the
16:23Aeros tour where like everyone's so kind and like just having fun and like girlhood like that was so
16:29much of what I wanted to experience something this moving this powerful this rich in feeling and
16:36experience represents more than just people coming to see an artist perform songs and so we have a large
16:43responsibility to do this show and still show up for fans in the way that we can and know how
16:47without getting too far into this I do feel like the world right now is really torn but I think being
16:55a part of this tour we're shining enough light that it actually feels like well man this is absolutely
17:00affecting a lot of lives and I think for all of us that are in it that's a pretty good perspective
17:06after a Vienna all right let's get out do these shows because this is why we're doing it
17:17I just want to know you better know you better know you better know I just want to know you know you
17:28know you it's all I know is to say hello your eyes look like coming home oh it's a simple name
17:38bringing out special guests is something that I really enjoy like when I get to be on stage with
17:58someone like Ed Sheeran we can create a unique special moment and it really just gives something
18:04to the fans that they didn't expect it's very cool that he would come and do this because I
18:16think it's just gonna like really delight people and I think in a moment when like a lot of the fans
18:20need like a pick-me-up because I know I do baby how you doing so I get to I'm going to the stadium and
18:30I'll do a little I know we'll do a little dressing room rehearsal I love you I don't know how do you
18:46how do you remember 36,000 plays that are all tactical missions and then just go do it it's
18:53the same it's basically the same job I got songs to remember you got plays to remember you've got
18:59teammates I got teammates you've got you coach Reed I've got my mom I want you to be here why do you
19:16have to be in the NFL I'm so excited I'm so excited but have a great practice I love you so much I love
19:31you so much thank you I know this was like some people get a vitamin drip I got this conversation
19:37so I usually practice in the shower because I'm trying to respect
20:07kind of a space in peace of everyone else so if you do something noisy I go somewhere that people
20:13aren't that much and shower isn't a good enough bet you know I'm just trying to try to get a distance
20:19from everybody it's a lot I started playing for Taylor in 2007 Amos yeah hey Ty are you wearing my
20:29headband again I'm wearing our headband I think if I look back at it now the thing that remains really
20:35constant is there's not a challenge that she isn't going to meet head-on and kind of decide to
20:42conquer and having that kind of energy in the in the lead spot has inspired I can say me personally
20:50to do a lot of the same things this diamond here is where I'm coming up for the first night for the
20:56first thing when we were in rehearsal for the eras tour we didn't quite know yet what it was going to
21:01be what it was going to be called I remember a meeting think we're all like sitting on the floor
21:05where she kind of cast the vision so it's going to start with a chorus of it's really hard really
21:12hard Miss Americana chorus like hard it's you and me that's my whole world they whisper in the hall
21:19she's a bad bad girl and she's like here's my visions what we're going to do just going to hit
21:25them with 22 we are never ever getting back together I knew you were trouble and then the
21:2910 full minutes all too well yeah we're doing something from every album we want to get straight
21:34into willow we'll do enchanted girl girl girl pow pow pow pow pow pow pow with you and we got a list of
21:42about 40 songs internally certainly I scoff that's almost three hours this is this is insanity wonder
21:53what are we going to cut and I think we added three songs it seems obvious now because it did work
22:08but at the time it's a big risk to decide we're going to do a three hour plus show we're going to
22:13do it in stadiums and we're going to do it all over the world and so a lot of tenured professionals
22:19are doing their very best to quantify what it is about what she's doing that's connecting to
22:23everybody it's just a show it's just music but there's something more profound than that going on
22:29here
22:49security is being stepped up for taylor swift's upcoming london concerts and this is why it's
22:56such a big deal this is her first performance since that thwarted terror plot to attack a show in
23:01vienna swifties are already moving in all of them going to be carefully screened as they enter this
23:07stadium police telling us they want to make sure that they know what everyone is doing inside that
23:12stadium and what are the fans there saying are they concerned some of the swifties said that they
23:17were acutely aware of what happened in austria uh but they're they're excited
23:21we've been here for like four or five hours we've spoken to people from like scotland and england
23:30and israel i feel like what's happening right now with everyone waiting for hours and exchanging
23:36bracelets and just like everyone making friends a 10 hours wait goes in five minutes honestly
23:42i'm actually quite new swifty um a flatmate hates me now because i just play taylor swift all the
23:49time she said if you if you like play karma one more time you're going to get evicted i want to cry
23:55for like joy tears of joy is what i want like i this has been such a long time coming like book my
24:01tickets over a year ago just seeing her face i know i'm so excited it's like she's not a real person
24:07i'm just so excited to like breathe the same era
24:12casting spotlights here and there across the ground at a certain point tracy understood where
24:21they were going under normal circumstances she would have felt afraid she was typically a
24:26i've been performing for you know 20 years from a mental standpoint being like afraid something's
24:34going to happen to your fans at any moment this is a new challenge i want to keep all of the nerves
24:42i have away from the crowd because when you're sort of the ringleader of this show they can sense
24:49any kind of shift energetically in you and you have to really focus on that and factor that in that
24:56you're at the heiress tour nothing's wrong
24:58down the same hallway through which they had entered hey suddenly there came two voices male and
25:04hi how you doing trying to take no i'm trying to calm down i'm having a very physical reaction to my
25:12nerves i'm just i'm just like my hands are shaky and just nerves about like what happened last week or
25:21yeah it's just weird it's just weird i just have to get this first show over with
25:24no it's i'm the same way right now i can't right yeah i can't relax i'm just like twitchy and fidgety
25:31yeah just get the show over with tonight
25:36get back on the horse
25:40hey hey oh my god
25:45nice to see you just what the doctor ordered i'm so excited
25:50thank you for doing this
25:52you guys good yeah
25:54do you are you just yes sure yeah sure you just kind of flies on the wall for everything
25:59it's basically like every day that i have not this not in vienna though right
26:03they were supposed to start in vienna but i didn't get to go
26:07like they oh you weren't even in the country
26:09no i was on the plane headed there
26:11damn it was like
26:12i was i'm just
26:15you know it's like i just need to get this i just need to do this show
26:21re like remember the joy of it because i'm a little bit just like
26:26you know and you get time off i get two months off after this which i need i need more than i've
26:32ever go somewhere because you've seen my schedule like it's like heavy yeah it's just
26:37where are you gonna are you gonna choose somewhere to go you're just gonna live in
26:40i'm just gonna go somewhere no one can find me i just don't want to be tracked like an animal
26:45yeah i just have felt very like hunted lately i feel like people have forgot they'd like your own
26:52human being amongst all of this as well hundred percent yeah yeah
26:56you know it's high yeah it's hot so i can sing the melody if you want to sing the harmony
27:06i'll do the first verse and first chorus by myself just to build tension and they're gonna
27:22be like oh my god oh my god oh my god izzy izzy izzy and then after the first chorus i'm gonna be
27:26like guys like i could even like stop playing be like guys it's just there's something's something's
27:31not something's missing from this i just and that's when they're gonna start screaming their
27:37heads off when i'm like something's missing i just feel like i feel like i can't do this alone
27:41tonight i just wanna know you better know you better know you better now i just wanna know you better
27:49know you better know you better now i just wanna know you better know you better now i just wanna know
27:59You know you know you
28:03It's all I know is you said
28:05Your eyes look like coming home
28:09All I know is a simple thing
28:12And everything has changed
28:15If you like catch our breath and like
28:17Take as long as you want and I'll just follow you
28:19We were when I was young
28:21We connected when we were a little bit on the first
28:23I got the shoes and chips on both of my shoulders
28:26Reputation precedes me
28:28Rumors I'm needing
28:29This is easier to ignore and believe me
28:32Me, I fall in love with you every single day
28:36I just wanna tell you I am
28:41Honey now
28:43I fucked up a chord in Everything Has Changed
28:49I just wanna know, you better know
28:52You better know
28:53And you actually came up with that, so
28:56And then you just move one finger to there
29:00And take that one off
29:01Okay
29:02So we
29:03We found love right where we are at
29:11So you just sort of move the one finger down
29:14Precisely, yeah
29:20Okay
29:20Okay
29:21We found love right where we are
29:25We found love right where we are
29:30Ah
29:31Ah
29:32Ah
29:34Ah
29:36Ah
33:24Something like this, Miss Americana, my heartbreak press
33:28So sad to pay
33:30Okay, that was awesome
33:31So you got me feeling really, really, really powerful
33:39I'm so sick of finding as fast as I can
33:44Wondering if I'd get that creeper if I was a baby
33:49And I'm so sick of finding that I feel
33:53If I was a man, then I'd be the man
33:58I'd be the man
33:59We are never, ever, ever getting back together
34:16We are never, ever, ever getting back together
34:21You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me
34:26Now we got problems, and I don't think we can solve them
34:32You made a really deep cut
34:33And baby, now we got better
34:36I got better
34:38I got better
34:40I got better
34:42I got better
34:44I got better
34:45I got better
34:46I got better
34:47I got better
34:48I got better
34:49I got better
34:50I got better
34:51I got better
34:52I got better
34:53I got better
34:54I got better
34:55I got better
34:56I got better
34:57I got better
34:58But I just feel like I'm not really doing it justice, like I feel like
35:20Do you know what I mean? I just feel so lonely up here, do you know what I mean?
35:33So it's a good thing that Ed Sheeran is here
35:50And all my bones, it's all painted blue
35:55But I'll take them down, take them down and open up the door for you
36:01And all I feel in the stomach is butterflies
36:05The beautiful kind, picking up the lost time, taking blood, making it feel right
36:11I just wanna know, you better know, you better know, you better know
36:17I just wanna know, you better know, you better know, you better know
36:22I just wanna know, you better know, you better know, you better know
36:28I just wanna know, you better know
36:34There's so many hundreds of moments of individual eye contact throughout the course of the show
36:40I see the mass quantities of joy that everyone's feeling
36:46What's interesting is like, there's some joy in the show
36:50But there's a lot of emotions in this that aren't just like
36:53Put on your smiley face and come to the heiress tour
36:56It's so much more
37:00You look out into the crowd and this isn't just like a blob of lights
37:05These are millions of stories and all these counter narratives all colliding in one place
37:11Where we feel safe to be demonstrative about a whole spectrum of emotion
37:16That stuff is really powerful
37:19That stuff is really powerful
37:20That stuff is really powerful
37:24Life contains multitudes and we're kind of exploring all of the dramatic edges of those things
37:28Life contains multitudes and we're kind of exploring all of the dramatic edges of those things
37:35Life contains multitudes and we're kind of exploring all of the dramatic edges of those things
37:41Life contains multitudes and we're kind of exploring all of the dramatic edges of those things
37:48Life contains multitudes and we're kind of exploring all of the dramatic edges of those things
37:53That's what might be unlocking feelings of joy, feelings of euphoria
37:59And it still gets me
38:01It does
38:02It does
38:03It does
38:05It does
38:06It does
38:07It doesn't
38:09It's like
38:10It was so bad
38:11It's fun
38:12It's like
38:13It'll be on the train
38:14It captures the
38:16Little
38:17Forms
38:18Oh
38:18It's like
38:19I know
38:19Some
38:20Isla
38:21You know
38:21I'm true
38:22If it's Piet
38:23You just
38:25I know
38:26I know
38:27I know
38:28I know
38:28озя
38:30You know
38:30I haven't seen
38:31撤 up
38:31biscuits
38:32I know
38:32we're back we're back we're back oh my god that was like the most fun i've had
