43:36for those of you who've attended before feel free to ignore my sob story and go straight to the bar
43:42but for those of you who don't know it here's the short version
43:48my parents were both junior hockey coaches
43:50and they were hit by a drunk driver when i was 12 years old
43:57mercifully for them they died instantly
44:00mercifully for me
44:02the saint thomas scholarships existed
44:06i didn't have anybody else to help me
44:11had a lot of memories a love of hockey and a huge hole in my heart
44:15st thomas filled it with hope the hope of a new family
44:23things things weren't always easy you know they never are for anybody but
44:29in hockey i found what i was missing
44:32first at my high school then later a college and now here with the animals
44:36and i never looked back because i i never had to
44:44the family i craved the family that i needed that that i still need today
44:51hockey gave it to me
44:52and saint thomas gave me hockey
44:57so from the bottom of my heart i want to thank you all for being here tonight
45:02and for supporting this cause because it's not just a scholarship it's
45:06it's everything that comes with it it's a whole world a whole life it's uh
