Ansel Elgort Did All His Own Stunts In Action-Packed 'Baby Driver'
Transcript
00:00If you were robbing a bank in real life, who would be kind of like your gang that you would take with you?
00:06Well, actually I have a bunch of my friends here from childhood.
00:09My ride or dies, you know what I mean?
00:11And they are literally my ride or dies, so I would take them.
00:15I would take all my homies, all my real homies.
00:18You know, the kind of homies where if you were on the street and you got in a fight, all of you would jump in.
00:22And I would be the wheel man, because I'm the most seasoned veteran in that.
00:27But if you saw the movie Baby Driver, I pull off a few heists in that, and those are all real.
00:32It's like a documentary sort of film called Baby Driver.
00:35It's about me being a, no, I'm joking.
00:36So, yeah, I've done it before, sort of, in a movie.
00:40So, I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV.
00:43Exactly, so you're basically one already, right?
00:45Yes, I'm not a getaway driver, but I play one in movies.
00:48Do you have a lot of training? Were you scared?
00:50Well, there's a lot of elements to go into this role.
00:53It's a very sort of, the movie has a lot of details.
00:56Baby speaks the sign language.
00:59Baby has a southern accent.
01:00Baby does choreography to music.
01:03Baby is a very full character with a lot of little details, and we did a lot of prep.
01:09We did about a month of rehearsal for the driving training and for the choreography and the sign language and everything.
01:15Parkour, because I did all my own stunts, jumping over cars and whatnot.
01:19So, we did a lot of preparation.
01:20What's the most valuable lesson you learned from Jon Hamm or Jamie Foxx, these seasoned actors?
01:26Yeah, those guys are the most generous guys I've been able to work with, surprisingly, because they're such big stars.
01:31And they really are just so generous and so nice and just great spirits.
01:35And you can know why they are such legends and why they've been able to work for so long, because everyone loves them.
