43:42feel free to ignore my sob story and go straight to the bar but for those of you
43:48who don't know it here's the short version my parents were both junior hockey coaches
43:55and they were hit by a drunk driver when I was 12 years old mercifully for them they died
44:03instantly mercifully for me the St. Thomas scholarships existed I didn't have anybody
44:13else to help me I had a lot of memories a love of hockey and a huge hole in my heart
44:21St. Thomas filled it with hope the hope of a new family things things weren't always easy
44:30you know they never are for anybody but in hockey I found what I was missing
44:36first at my high school then later at college and now here with the admirals and I never look back
44:44because I never had to
44:46the family I craved the family that I needed that that I still need today
44:56hockey gave it to me and St. Thomas gave me hockey
45:00so from the bottom of my heart I want to thank you all for being here tonight
45:06and for supporting this cause because it's not just a scholarship it's
45:10it's everything that comes with it it's a whole world a whole life it's uh
