00:00Девушки отдыхают.
00:30Next on Altitude.
00:34On the road again with the Denver Nuggets.
00:54This time at the Golden 1 Center where tonight fans making their way inside and getting ready
01:01as the Mile High crew takes on the Sacramento Kings.
01:06Hi everybody.
01:07Welcome Chris Marlowe, Katie Winge, Scott Hastings.
01:10November 3rd.
01:11That's the date that the 10-game road winning streak began.
01:15And interestingly, it began right here in Sacramento with a win, Katie.
01:19How did they get number 11 tonight?
01:21You know what's been so interesting?
01:22The rhythm that they found on the road and the way in which they've won some of these
01:25games.
01:26They grinded it out defensively.
01:28Their offense has been stupendous.
01:30Scott Hastings, the Nuggets, have just found themselves in hostile territory.
01:34Well, you're so structured on the road.
01:36You've got to be here at this time, get there at that time, this time, here at this time,
01:39you're eating this food at this time.
01:41And everything's structured.
01:42Get on the road, especially these one-offs where they've struggled.
01:45Then it's a free-for-all.
01:46Hey, Daddy's home.
01:47You know, what bills have got to be paid?
01:49They have been focused on the road.
01:51Yeah, one of the reasons they've been ruling the play of all-star caliber guard, Jamal
01:55Murray, just named Western Conference Player of the Week, maybe playing some of the best
01:59basketball of his career.
02:00He's the first Denver Nugget not named Nikola Jokic to win Western Conference Player of
02:04the Week since 2018.
02:06These were his numbers this week, and it really felt like we saw Jamal Murray at his most comfortable,
02:11at his most sufficient, at his best for this Denver Nuggets team.
02:15And that's really been the story of his season.
02:16Scott, he's been so poised and so confident out there on the floor.
02:20Well, especially the whole team kind of struggled in that Dallas game.
02:22You saw that's his low point total, just 10.
02:25But since then, he has been a focused Jamal.
02:28Remember, he hurt his ankle.
02:30Was it the Dallas game that he actually hurt his ankle?
02:32They're thinking, well, he's not going to play anymore.
02:34Watch out.
02:34Then he drops 52 the next night.
02:36His season numbers are a career high.
02:38He should probably be an all-star this year.
02:40He should probably be an all-star this year.
02:42Well, I don't know how they're going to do this crazy 8-8-8 thing.
02:46Just put him on the team.
02:47Put him on the team.
02:48As David Adams said in the pregame,
02:50he's playing like an all-star right now.
02:52All right.
02:52Here we go again for the fourth time this season.
02:55The Denver Nuggets are taking on the Sacramento Kings.
02:58When we come back, we'll take a look at Tim Hardaway Jr.
03:02and his three-point percentage prowess.
03:06Stay tuned for that.
03:07Toyota Tip-Off is next.

03:46Got the Nuggets and the Kings tonight in Sactown.
03:50This is the fourth time these teams have met,
03:53and it's not even Christmas yet.
03:55They met three times in November,
03:57and thankfully this will be the final.
03:59I was going to say the best present that we're getting today
04:02is the last time we see the Sacramento Kings.
04:06All right, let's talk about Tim Hardaway Jr.,
04:08who I thought has been a find in the offseason.
04:12He is providing leadership, playing quality defense,
04:15and he's doing that.
04:16He is doing that at an all-time high for him.
04:2042.5%.
04:21That's a career best.
04:23Yeah, and look,
04:24this is probably the most wide open he's ever been.
04:26In his career, on a consistent basis,
04:29being able to knock these threes down,
04:30obviously you play alongside Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic,
04:34and you get wide open threes like that.
04:36And then it's just,
04:37at that point, it's just a matter of just knocking them in.
04:40And you can see what the Nuggets are doing here in general.
04:43Yeah, I mean, it surprises me.
04:45I would have never guessed Max Christie
04:46lead the league in this category.
04:48But when you have two Nuggets,
04:50top five in three-point shooting,
04:52how good is that?
04:53And not only that, Vic,
04:55but there's like three others that are up over 40% too.
04:57So this is just a really good three-point shooting team
05:00led by Tim Hardaway and Jamal Murray.
05:03And look, it's been, as you said, a great find.
05:07Nuggets try to make it 11 in a row tonight.
05:10Bruce Brown's number, 11 straight,
05:12already a franchise record 10.
05:15See if they can keep it going.
05:17Nuggets and Kings next.
05:19Murray's going for a huge number tonight.
05:27And the blue arrow thunders one down.
05:30He checked.
05:32Got it!
05:33He has the hot hand and he knows it.
05:35There he goes again.
05:36Oh my goodness.
05:37Jamal Murray, red hot.
05:40He's got 52 tonight.
05:41So Jamal Murray continues his all-star caliber play.
05:47A smoking hot week for Jamal Murray
05:51as the crowd's settling here at the Golden 1 Center,
05:54getting ready for the fourth meeting of the year
05:56between the Denver Nuggets and the Sacramento Kings.
05:58Take a look at tonight's starting lineups
06:00presented by Intermountain Health.
06:02The Nuggets still without Gordon, Christian Brown,
06:05and Julian Strother.
06:06So Jamal Murray with Cam Johnson.
06:09Nicole is in the middle.
06:10Peyton Watson, Spencer Jones.
06:12Meanwhile, for the Kings, they're missing some stars.
06:15Domas Sabonis, Dennis Schroeder out with a hip,
06:18and Zach Levine.
06:19So they've got Russell Westbrook at the point
06:21with Neat Clifford, the rookie from Colorado State.
06:24Maxi Raynaud is in the middle.
06:26Keegan Murray and DeMar DeRozan.
06:31David Adelman assumed acting coaching duties.
06:35The three games remaining last regular season.
06:38He's gone 20-6.
06:40There it is.
06:41A very precise number, almost 77% winning percentage.
06:45Here we go.
06:47And we are underway.
06:49The Kings have it.
06:51Our officials tonight, Justin Van Dyne,
06:52Musa Dogger, and Derek Collins.
06:59Kings beat the Nuggets last time out.
07:03That was in Denver, and the Nuggets suddenly
07:05had a fourth-quarter collapse.
07:08They were up by 13 in the third
07:10and allowed a huge run,
07:11and then Westbrook brought the Kings back home.
07:14They're playing drop defense.
07:16First shot on the way is no good for Cam Johnson,
07:19and Westbrook's got it.
07:20Westbrook coming off a triple-double.
07:22He's been playing well for these Kings.
07:26Kings just 6-18 overall.
07:29Murray's in the lane,
07:30and a foul on Spencer Jones.
07:35We've got Pulse first.
07:36Ball up top.
07:37I think the arm slid down.
07:40We've got Murray's right forearm.
07:42A free throw line for Keegan Murray.
07:44So, Keegan Murray is at the line.
07:50Don't usually put him on the ball.
07:54Nuggets come in a ten-and-a-half-point road favorite tonight.
08:00Sacramento missing some key pieces.
08:02So are the Nuggets.
08:05Now Murray, one more.
08:07He missed them both.
08:08And Jokic goes and gets the rebound.
08:11Nikola Jokic has played in all 23 games.
08:14He's playing 35 minutes a game.
08:17Watson handoff to Johnson.
08:19Johnson's got to lean if he wants it.
08:20Instead to Murray.
08:22Murray first shot.
08:23He's on the way.
08:24It's a three.
08:25It's off right.
08:27And the Kings with it.
08:29Kings 3-7 at home.
08:32And deflected by Johnson.
08:34Nice defensive play.
08:36Nothing wrong with the Nuggets offense.
08:37They're number one in the NBA.
08:39Their defense they're working on.
08:41They're 18th.
08:42Cam Johnson's got a lane by Maxie.
08:45Spencer Jones goes and gets it.
08:48Nuggets got plenty of time on the clock.
08:49Eight to shoot.
08:51Johnson's going to let it go on Maxie.
08:53Here it goes.
08:53Step back.
08:54Can't shoot.
08:55Bad pass.
08:57Bad pass.
08:57Waited too long.
09:00And underneath.
09:00Keegan scored.
09:02Keegan Murray, he's a professional scorer, Scott.
09:05Yeah, he came in this league.
09:06Great defender.
09:07We saw him as rookie year.
09:08And we're like, wow, who is this guy?
09:10But he has really blossomed.
09:11Without Sabonis, Max Renault watches Jokic spin around him.
09:16A tough assignment for the 22-year-old from Paris.
09:22As the Kings answer back.
09:24Russell Westbrook, 207 triple doubles, most ever, 32 more than Jokic at the moment.
09:34So, Nick Clifford picks up the first personal, first team foul.
09:46You see Westbrook, he's been playing well.
09:50Three-pointer on the way.
09:51Good.
09:52Payton Watson knocks it in.
09:54And the Nuggets have their first lead at 5-4.
10:00Nuggets have won two out of the first three games with the Kings.
10:03Now, launching is DeRozan, and knocks it in.
10:11Edge of his range.
10:12He is an unbelievable mid-range shooter.
10:15Yeah.
10:15Improved three-pointer shooter, though, Scott.
10:1836-and-a-half percent.
10:20Now Jokic by Westbrook.
10:22See you later, pal.
10:23As he lays it up and in.
10:25Renault came over a little bit late.
10:27Big guy coming over from the weak side.
10:29He's 7-1, but he's slender bill.
10:312-30.
10:32And DeRozan again.
10:33And that's DeRozan.
10:36Sacramento leads it.
10:399-7.
10:40We play three minutes.
10:41Expecting kind of a high-scoring game tonight, wouldn't you say?
10:44Murray's got a lane.
10:46Murray, hang.
10:47And off the window is good.
10:50Well, Jamal Murray, who's averaging 25 points per game.
10:53That's a clear high for him.
10:55Look, it's made the last four shots and have tied it up.
11:00Got to get your hand up, but you can't reach in on DeRozan.
11:03He's an excellent foul shooter.
11:05Now, Clifford nearly traveled.
11:07He's stuck.
11:08He brings it out to Westbrook.
11:09He looks up.
11:10Going to launch a three, I think.
11:12Nope.
11:13Pass it off.
11:13Keegan Murray for three.
11:15That's no good.
11:16Oh!
11:16And the follow.
11:18That can't be good, and it isn't.
11:20They're going to say it's in the cylinder.
11:22Yeah, Keegan saying it was deflected.
11:24Joker kind of tapped it, but it was above the cylinder.
11:27Eric Collins had the call.
11:31Yeah, you know, might have gone in on the tap by Joker.
11:34Might have been.
11:369-9 early.
11:39Cam Johnson, they double off the screen.
11:42Miss Joker.
11:43Watson on the dribble drive.
11:45Floated up.
11:45No.
11:46Here comes Russell Westbrook.
11:49Here comes Russell Westbrook.
11:5136 years old.
11:52Grew up in Long Beach, California.
11:55This is a great matchup with Spencer Jones.
11:58Westbrook over the top and knocks it in.
12:00Well, Russell Westbrook, 18 starts in 24 games, averaging 14 a game.
12:06Go, man, go, man, go, man, ready.
12:09Got two, got two, got two, go, man.
12:11Murray in the lane.
12:12Lay it up.
12:12No good.
12:13Here comes Watson, and Watson puts it to bed.
12:16Joker fight for that offensive glass.
12:19He's kept it alive a little bit.
12:23Payton Watson with five early points.
12:26Now gets double to Rosen.
12:29I'd like to see some other guys take the shots, like Westbrook.
12:33Murray's on him, but he's willing to give up that long three.
12:36Now Westbrook's in the lane.
12:39Gives it to Max Renaud.
12:41Floater good.
12:43Watch him warm up before the game, and he was absolutely outstanding in warm-up.
12:49In for Domas Sabonis, who's injured.
12:52Watson is alone, and he missed it.
12:55You're going to call a foul, however, and Watson in disbelief that he missed that dunk.
13:03Holding his nose.
13:05He got the foul of the arm and everything, yep.
13:09No timeout called.
13:10We are in the first quarter, just under seven minutes to go.
13:14Sacramento leading by two.
13:16To the Golden 1 Center, about midway through the first quarter, the Denver Nuggets trail the Sacramento Kings by a basket.
13:27This Denver Nuggets team has talked a lot about implementing physicality on the defensive side of the basketball.
13:32Well, they're also doing that offensively in the form of screening.
13:35It's a little thing that's made a big difference in the offensive production that we've seen to start this season.
13:40David Adelman told me this is the best Denver Nuggets screening team that they've had in a very long time.
13:45Players giving themselves up to get someone else open.
13:48He said knocking defenders off, hitting people to get guys loose.
13:51It is so important.
13:52Teams are switching less, trying to stay with their man, and obviously that's a product of players like Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic, having big, big games.
14:00So in order to create an advantage, there has to be a willingness to screen effectively.
14:05Chris and Scott, Coach Adelman even went as far as to say he's okay with a couple offensive fouls in a game because he thinks it impacts the physicality battle in a very positive way for the Denver Nuggets.
14:14Now you send a message when you do that.
14:18The other thing about screening, I've learned this from my college coach, the guy that's great, especially when this team passed, the guy that's great will get as many shots as the guy you're screening for.
14:28Yeah, I thought it was interesting when Adelman said after the Pacers game a while back, we didn't foul enough.
14:33We only had three fouls, and that was a big topic at halftime.
14:38Drew Eubanks has come in for Maxi Renault.
14:41Now Westbrook shoots the three.
14:42That's no good.
14:43And wrestling for the ball was Spencer Jones.
14:48The Nuggets trying to run it up.
14:51Murray's got it around a screen.
14:56This lady hit ball fake, ball fake, and allowed the defender to get a handover into the passing lane.
15:02Tied at 13.
15:03First quarter.
15:04Murray doing a good job of keeping Eubanks off the board.
15:08That's a priority tonight.
15:10Murray boxing out.
15:12And the rebound.
15:14Retrieved.
15:15Cam Johnson.
15:16Good team defense that time down.
15:19Remember, Jokic and Eubanks kind of got into it last game.
15:22Now Murray's on the run.
15:23Lay it up.
15:24No.
15:26Out of bounds.
15:27Should be done for basketball.
15:28And watch that short post now.
15:30That short roll on the Knicks pick and roll.
15:34Had it that time.
15:35Murray just one of four shooting so far.
15:38Watson's already got seven points.
15:40The Rosen 5 for the Kings.
15:45Nuggets, you know, 17-6 overall.
15:48They are second in the West now.
15:50Only at Oklahoma City.
15:51Murray long range.
15:52Got it.
15:53Maybe that will get Murray going here.
15:55Tomorrow, Murray cascades one.
15:57Nuggets lead by three.
15:5916-13.
16:02There's Eubanks and Jokers going at it again.
16:07Westbrook straightaway three.
16:09That's no good.
16:10And that's going to be a foul on Eubanks pushing the joker.
16:21First foul on Eubanks.
16:22Third team foul.
16:29Well, the Nuggets have it.
16:31On the road, Nuggets 11-2.
16:33Second-best mark in the NBA.
16:36And you know about the 10-game road winning streak.
16:41Tim Hardaway Jr. is on.
16:42Now Jokic right by everybody.
16:44And he puts it to bed.
16:45Eubanks is concentrating too much trying to just bang on.
16:48Yeah.
16:49Nikola Jokic.
16:50He said just playing basketball and playing good defense.
16:53Seven straight points for the Denver Nuggets now.
16:57Passes out.
16:58Westbrook.
17:00Keyon Ellis has come in.
17:01He misses the tree.
17:02Jokic had it for a moment.
17:04Now Hardaway.
17:05Back to Jokic.
17:06Jokic averaging 29 points per game.
17:09Throws it away.
17:10Third turnover for Denver.
17:19Westbrook against Hardaway.
17:23Westbrook up and under.
17:24Nice move.
17:26And it rolls home.
17:27Nuggets can fast break if they want to.
17:30Now the Kings retreat.
17:35Hardaway Jr.
17:36His first shot of the night is a bullseye.
17:39Now Tim Hardaway Jr.
17:41Knocks it in.
17:43At 33.
17:44Still going strong.
17:45He gives the Nuggets a six-point lead.
17:47Their largest of the night.
17:52Murray.
17:53Ellis has it.
17:54Ellis has not been shooting well from three-point land.
17:58And that ball tipped out of bounds by Eubanks.
18:02That's the third rebound Jokers had that someone has tipped it out of his hands.
18:07Trying to keep the ball alive.
18:08We're trying to keep him from getting numbers.
18:10Now Jokic early six points, a rebound, and an assist.
18:17Nuggets are on a 10-2 scoring run.
18:21The best shooter for the Sacramento Kings has entered the game as the sixth man.
18:28That is Malik Monk.
18:30He can score.
18:31He absolutely can.
18:32Now Jokic against Eubanks.
18:34Eubanks trying to play him physical, as Scott said.
18:37Jokic will fall away.
18:38That's good.
18:39I think Jokic has figured, why bang him every time?
18:41Why do that?
18:42Just fake him out.
18:43He gets him to bang him.
18:44Yeah, he gets him to bang him, and then he's off on his toes.
18:47He's just a little softball shuffle.
18:4923-15.
18:51And Malik Monk with a bucket there out of Kentucky.
18:55He's in his ninth NBA season, played for three different teams.
18:59Now Jokic going to shoot a three.
19:01That's good.
19:02That's the one thing.
19:04Willis Reed told me, he said, you never beat up on Will Chamberlain,
19:08because if you did, he'd get mad and he'd play.
19:11And I think Eubanks made a mistake coming in here
19:13and trying to play Mr. Physical with Nicole Jokic.
19:15Well said.
19:16Jamar DeRozan over the top.
19:18Pretty good defense there by Payton Watson,
19:20who got the hand in the face.
19:22Nuggets have made five in a row.
19:25Nuggets have made six straight shots.
19:29And a free throw to boot for Jamal Murray.
19:34Just sees DeRozan, attacks that up foot.
19:37You see a little push on the waist as he goes by him.
19:41Attack that top foot.
19:42Kent back down in time.
19:44A little push.
19:45Thought he got away with it.
19:46Murray with the backstance.
19:47And I'll take it in one.
19:48All of a sudden, the Nuggets are on a 17-4 run.
19:53There it is.
19:54In less than four minutes.
19:56Murray at the line this year, nearly 90%.
19:59So making an 18-4 run.
20:04And the Nuggets are putting on the Ritz here in the first quarter up in Sacramento.
20:12Monk, parted by Bruce Brown, has come on.
20:15Got to stick with Monk.
20:17Now DeRozan.
20:19Mid-range.
20:21Missed it.
20:21And Jokic on it.
20:22Tiptoes.
20:23Got that one.
20:25Third defender in the game.
20:28To take on Jokic.
20:34Jokic against Keegan Murray here.
20:36And Jokic easily over Murray.
20:38Missed it.
20:39He thought he got slapped on the arm.
20:4229-17.
20:43We got two and a half minutes remaining here in the first quarter.
20:47Elijah with us here on altitude.
20:48And Watson with a hard foul to the cranium of Malik Monk.
20:55So make it to Rosen.
20:56Excuse me.
20:58So just under two and a half remaining.
21:01First quarter.
21:02Nuggets by 12.
21:03Center in the last four and a half minutes.
21:05The Nuggets on an 18-4 run.
21:07It's time now for our whole story presented by Advent Health.
21:11Reminding us to never underestimate the human spirit.
21:14We're getting a chance to play.
21:15Getting a chance to start has benefited both Peyton Watson and Spencer Jones.
21:21Well, and two guys that, you know, if everything plays to Hoyle, will probably go back to the bench.
21:26But look what you've added to the bench.
21:28You know, you've added confidence.
21:30You've added guys that showed that they can do it.
21:33And the confidence is two ways.
21:34It's not just in the player in himself.
21:36It's in the staff on them.
21:39Yeah, I think the great news there is the three-point shooting.
21:42Watson at 41.
21:44Spencer Jones at 44.
21:46Now Murray's out of the game with Watson.
21:49So Jalen Pickett comes on.
21:51Pickett and Hardaway in the backcourt with Johnson, Brown, and Jokic in there.
21:56Malik Monk is at the free throw line.
21:58He'll shoot two.
22:00Let's go over to Katie.
22:05I asked Spencer Jones what he feels like he's proved with more opportunity.
22:09He told me two things.
22:10First, he's proved he's a pretty good defender.
22:11Can handle his own against some of the star players in this league.
22:14And second, he's proven you have to respect his jumper.
22:16He's not a guy that you can just leave open out there.
22:18He's been tested, and he's passed when it comes to that.
22:21He says he's a guy that can defend.
22:22He's a guy that can stretch the defense to give Jamal Murray and Nicole a room to operate now.
22:26So that's what he believes he needed to prove, and that's really what he's done so far.
22:30Yeah, no hesitation when he takes a three.
22:32He believes he's going to make it.
22:34Now Jokic is in the lane.
22:35Basket counts foul.
22:36So Jokic is chewing up king by king here in the first quarter.
22:42He's got 13 on 6 of 7 shooting.
22:45The big guys are too big.
22:47The little guys are too little.
22:48And the medium guys are just right.
22:51Well, it sure had a pretty good second half against Jokic defensively again with Denver.
22:58That was the November 22nd game.
23:01Nuggets losing to the Kings 128-123.
23:04David Adelman talking about that tonight.
23:06We just went dead in the water in the fourth quarter after giving up a 13-point lead in the third.
23:13Into Red.
23:13No.
23:14And Renaud with position lays it in.
23:17Step down on Monk.
23:19Try to hit the bottom of his hands.
23:21The roll guy's got to be quicker.
23:23Jalen Pickett.
23:25Can he be matched up against Nick Clifford?
23:27Pickett around the corner.
23:29Pass is deflected.
23:30A flyby.
23:31Hardaway.
23:31No.
23:32Bruce Brown goes and gets it.
23:34Pickett pulls the trigger.
23:35Yes.
23:37Jalen Pickett from deep.
23:39And it's 35-21.
23:49Cam got a hand on it.
23:50Good job.
23:52Stopping the penetration.
23:56Pickett has been reliable when he's had an opportunity to play.
24:00Of course, Jamal Murray, hard to get out of that lineup.
24:04They've used Bruce Brown as a substitute-point guard.
24:07Pickett getting in there tonight.
24:0914-point lead for the Denver Nuggets here.
24:12Jokic has it.
24:13Jokic is part of the good hands, people.
24:16And Johnson is fouled.
24:18So the Nuggets clearly motivated after losing that game at home on November 22nd.
24:24David Adelman saying, hey, our guys didn't forget that game.
24:27He did say that.
24:28And I found that kind of interesting.
24:29That was fine.
24:31Listen, everybody's freaking out about the four games at home he lost.
24:35And obviously, you don't want to do that.
24:36You've got to remember every one of those came off a road trip,
24:40and they were like a one-off home game.
24:43Really, really weird schedule.
24:45Adelman had a great comment the other day talking about the San Antonio Spurs.
24:50He said, who just beat the Lakers last night?
24:53Hey, Spurs are pretty good, aren't they?
24:54Even without Wemby, they were able to take down the Lakers.
24:56They're playing really good.
24:57Remember that loss to Sacramento?
24:59They had a very emotional late-game win in Houston the night before.
25:08It's an extended, if you're keeping score at home, 26-8 run for Denver.
25:14Johnson's trying to shadow Monk.
25:16Monk sidesteps.
25:17Let's have rip.
25:19Don't use a good shooter.
25:20The Lakers from Jonesboro, Arkansas.
25:30Monk has come off the bench, immediate impact.
25:37Johnson for three.
25:38Short.
25:40Cam Johnson, who's been in a bit of a slump, he starts 0 for 2 from 3.
25:45And Yoke, it's trying to control his temper, going to pick up a foul.
25:57Monk went at him hard, thought he was going to be challenged.
26:00Lost the ball just a little bit.
26:03Yoke may have had a hand on the waist.
26:07He did.
26:15Now get this low-zero-down lease on a built-forward tough F-150 for just $4.79 a month.
26:24No, Monk.
26:29And the Nuggets lead is 11.
26:33Nuggets rested three full days off.
26:38Pickett.
26:39Great bounce pass to Johnson with a cut.
26:44What a pass.
26:47No, I just said, this is what a pass, man.
26:50That was outstanding for a guy who didn't play a lot, right?
26:5513-point lead for Denver.
26:56Biggest lead was 16.
26:58Nuggets in the zone.
27:00Ellis lets it fly.
27:01That's no good.
27:01We said he's been in a shooting slump.
27:04Now Hardaway Jr.
27:06Kings will play some zone also.
27:10Precious Achua is now guarding Jokic.
27:13Precious is 6'8", 230, end game.
27:18That was a late call, but it was the right call.
27:22He tried to do the fake and rake.
27:25Got the arms of Achua inside his hands.
27:28Watch this.
27:28Yeah, right arm's already there.
27:30I mean, that's a foul.
27:31But he didn't call until right then.
27:34Precious with a little karate there.
27:36And Jokic goes to the free throw line.
27:38Two fouls on Achua.
27:42You know, even though the call is late sometimes, if it's right, it's good.
27:47Well, you'd have been mad if they wouldn't have blown a whistle, right?
27:49Well, you might not have been.
27:52You pointed out it was late, but it was correct.
27:56I would have talked to him.
27:57Well, Jokic in his three games versus the Kings this season has been astronomical, if you like.
28:05Look at those numbers.
28:06Near triple-double.
28:0837 and a half.
28:09The Kings really don't have anybody without Sabonis there, who's a pretty good defender on Jokic.
28:16You know, the three-time MVP, 15 to make it, 16 points.
28:21Clifford to beat the clock.
28:23In and out.
28:24And that is the end of the first quarter.
28:28Oh, good one for the Denver Nuggets.
28:32They lead the Kings 41-26.
28:35You're watching Altitude, your home for Nuggets basketball.

29:04Sacramento, California.
29:06We are at the Golden 1 Center.
29:09Nicola Jokic, a spectacular first quarter, 16 points on six of seven shooting.
29:15Jonas Valanciunas is on.
29:17Pickett remains the point guard.
29:22Valanciunas going to go against Renault here.
29:25And Valanciunas drops it in.
29:27Renault, I don't think he's beefy enough to cover Big Val.
29:31Well, like I said, I watched him work out.
29:32He's got some quick feet so it can move, but he's a rookie.
29:37And you're going to get veteran dudes.
29:39Now, corner three is on the way.
29:41That's no good.
29:42Westbrook thought he had it.
29:43And now the Nuggets will continue to attack.
29:48They lead by 17.
29:49That's the largest lead of the night.
29:51Bruce Brown, pitch it out.
29:53Valanciunas.
29:54The Lithuanian slingshot.
29:57Three is good.
29:59Big Val converts.
30:00Converts, and the Nuggets are up by 20.
30:06Westbrook fouled hard by Bruce Brown, former teammates.
30:15Dude, where Valanciunas was all the time, he had a little ball fake, just kind of froze the defender.
30:20I'm not sure the defender was going to come chase him down anyway.
30:26He looked over the bench afterwards.
30:27They were all standing up for him.
30:30Let's go over to Katie.
30:31Guys, Denver's 41 points in the first quarter.
30:34Ties a season high.
30:35They also had 41 on that game December 1st against Dallas.
30:38But Nicole Jokic is now averaging nearly nine points per game in first quarters.
30:42After tonight, shooting around 65% in the first quarter.
30:45There's no other player shooting over 54%.
30:48And then since 1996-97, Jokic's career field goal percentage in first quarters is 59%.
30:54And it's the best in the NBA in that time.
30:57I'm not sure if you mentioned this, Katie, at the start of your report.
31:00But the Nuggets, as a team, shot 64% in that first quarter.
31:04They were running hot.
31:09And now a little full-court pressure.
31:12Looks like a little 2-2-1 zone press.
31:14Made famous by the UCLA Bruins back in the early 60s under John Wooden.
31:21Now Hardaway.
31:22Hardaway's in the lane.
31:24Oh!
31:24And he rams it home with a left hand.
31:27Doesn't get much better than that.
31:29They thought he was going to pull up.
31:31No such luck.
31:33Nuggets calling for a travel.
31:35They don't get it.
31:35Raynaud, no.
31:37Valanchunas has it.
31:39Wow!
31:41Tim Hardaway, Jr.
31:43Now pick it.
31:44Bring it back out, Bruce.
31:46Now to Valanchunas.
31:47He's got a mouse in the house.
31:49Jump it under to Brown.
31:51Oh!
31:52And two shots coming.
31:55Yeah, Hardaway, Jr.
31:56Jumping like a young Marleau in there.
31:59And you know what?
32:00It went up and got the left hand.
32:02And I'm thinking, oh, he's going to lay it up.
32:04The Rosen Challenge just in time to get in the future Tim Hardaway poster.
32:09That's a big-time play.
32:11How difficult is that, Scott?
32:12You've played a long time.
32:13To dunk?
32:13Well, to dunk with the right hand.
32:15Your dominant hand, yeah.
32:17But to dunk with your left hand in traffic.
32:19Well, for us, you know, Tim and I, as well-coordinated players, you know, it's easy.
32:25It's just you've got to make sure you've got to get the step.
32:27Here's your left hand.
32:28Could you?
32:28Well, nowadays, that left shoulder doesn't want to go up about this high.
32:32So it would be a lot tougher right now, I'll tell you that.
32:34All right.
32:35A spectacular play by Tim Hardaway.
32:40The Nuggets leading 50-28.
32:42Nuggets 10 for 10 at the free throw line.
32:46They're over 80% on the season.
32:48Now, DeRozan in the lane.
32:50No, but a foul.
32:53DeMar DeRozan needed six points tonight to pass Vince Carter into 23rd all-time scoring.
33:03He's got five at the moment, so this could be the point right here for DeMar DeRozan,
33:08one of the great scorers in the history of the NBA.
33:13Now, these are the active guys.
33:15And you can see where he is on the active list, so he is tied.
33:21No, he has moved ahead of Vince Carter.
33:2423rd all-time.
33:26Higher up on the all-time active list.
33:30Currently averaging 18 points a game, the fewest in a season since 2012.
33:37Been a rough year for the Kings.
33:41Injuries have sapped their strength.
33:44Picking up a little higher on the floor now.
33:49Try to slow Denver from going, and they do it.
33:52Bad pass.
33:54Monk.
33:56Ball fumbled.
33:58Renault will bring it out.
34:00Westbrook so far with eight points.
34:03Dump it to Renault.
34:05Round the corner he goes.
34:07Nice move.
34:08At the left hand.
34:09Yeah, he was at the left hand, right hand, little hooks.
34:11He was working on that.
34:13I think he's a good-looking kid.
34:14There are so many good, young, long, ranging players.
34:19Hardaway Jr.
34:20No.
34:21Had come from France.
34:23A couple misses.
34:25Turnover.
34:26Murray for three.
34:30And he knocks it in.
34:31And the equalizer getting you back in the game, that three-point shot.
34:37A timeout called.
34:389.15 to go second quarter.
34:40The Nuggets up by 15.
34:48Aaron Gordon, in this huddle, pointed at Jonas Valanciunas and said,
34:52he's got a mismatch.
34:53He's got five points and a rebound in three minutes,
34:55and he is who you can count on more, brought to you by UMB Bank.
35:00Efficiency must be contagious at the center position for the Denver Nuggets
35:04because what Jonas Valanciunas has been doing is stuffing the stat sheet
35:07when he's on the floor, 12.5 minutes per game, and in that time,
35:11averaging eight points on 57% shooting, nearly five rebounds and in assists.
35:17And, guys, there's a lot he's added that doesn't make the stat sheet, too.
35:19He's been an incredible screener for the offense, which has led to great shooting.
35:23Jamal Murray has obviously benefited from that.
35:26Plus, he's allowed Nikola Jokic to play less minutes, too.
35:28David Adelman said he thinks Jonas has brought a different physicality to this team, guys.
35:33Well, he is physical, that's for sure.
35:35You break that out to 36 minutes play, he's scoring 24 and averaging 15.
35:41Been a starter most of his career, coming off the bench here for Nikola Jokic.
35:46Now, Bruce Brown, who's got to come off that, ready to shoot.
35:50Bruce has a lane, lay it up.
35:52No, it wouldn't drop.
35:54He's got to come off that dribble handoff, ready to shoot.
35:58And the bank shot is good by King and Murray.
36:02Nine straight points now for Sacramento, and the lead is 13.
36:06With a game of runs, the Nuggets had a 26-8 run in the first quarter.
36:19Westbrook picks up a foul, his second.
36:24I believe I said that Russell Westbrook and Bruce Brown were teammates.
36:27They were not.
36:28Westbrook with the Nuggets last season.
36:30Bruce Brown came over to the Nuggets this season.
36:36Playing competitively, but not teammates.
36:39Wide open is Cam Johnson, and he knocks it in.
36:43Really needed that one right there.
36:46A turnover and a couple missed shots.
36:48It stops a 9-0 scoring run.
36:56Monk missed one and a good box out.
36:59We pointed this out on many telegas.
37:01Jalen Pickett.
37:04Let's try to get the ball into Valen Shooters.
37:06No, Pickett instead shoots the three.
37:08That's no good.
37:10Had a pretty good look there.
37:1116-point lead for Denver.
37:14Pass it out.
37:15Monk not afraid to let it rip.
37:20Westbrook, they're daring him to shoot the three, and he goes.
37:23Yeah, Hardaway was just going out to guard.
37:26If he was going to make him shoot it,
37:28he can get hot there now.
37:30He's shooting 37.5% by the numbers.
37:35Hardaway.
37:38Maxie with the rebound.
37:4013-point Denver lead.
37:42They led by 15 at the end of the first quarter.
37:4522 there for a little bit.
37:48Yep, that was the biggest lead.
37:50A little quarter in the lane.
37:52That's no good.
37:53Valanchunas has it.
37:56Pickett on the run.
37:58Pickett back and in.
37:59Dump it.
38:00Bruce Brown.
38:01Beautiful assist.
38:02And a good finish.
38:04Two good assists by Jalen Pickett.
38:06He's got three assists overall.
38:08He's got the three-pointer.
38:10Now in the maxi.
38:11Maxi left is short, and it's knocked out of bounds.
38:18This gets in there, draws two defenders.
38:20Cut, don't ever stand.
38:22This was Pickett's kind of M.O. at Penn State
38:26when he played a back-down point guard.
38:29A little bit like Andre Miller used to play
38:31with the Denver Nuggets.
38:33A timeout is called.
38:346.54 to go.
38:37There is a coach's challenge
38:39with the Nuggets leading by 15.
38:41Let's head back to Chris Dempsey
38:42for the Kaiser Permanente sports break.
38:45Chris.
38:45Union where your financial well-being is our purpose.
38:48Now Justin Van Nijen ambling over.
38:51And he will give us the call.
38:53It appeared on replay
38:54that the Nuggets hit it out of bounds.
38:58It was tipped, but at last touch, Valanchunas.
39:00After review.
39:06After review, the ball last goes off
39:08and Valanchunas' fingertips.
39:10Therefore, this is a successful challenge,
39:12and the play will be overturned to Sacramento ball.
39:15Since it's the mandatory,
39:16Sacramento still charge a timeout.
39:18However, the ability for one more challenge.
39:21So, Doug Christie,
39:23in his first full season,
39:24took over for Mike Brown,
39:26who was let go after 31 games.
39:29Mike now the head coach of the New York Knicks.
39:32And it's been some rough sledding for Christie.
39:36Now, Renault puts it in.
39:38Well, 55-42 our score.
39:446.40 to go.
39:45Watson, Murray, Brown,
39:47picket, and Valanchunas.
39:48The five on the floor together.
39:50Fabulous pass by Murray on the bounce.
39:54Saw a video of Peyton Watson
39:55talking about just
39:56watching Christian Brown last year
39:58and all the cutting he did
40:00and the opportunities he had.
40:02So, I'm just trying to take advantage of some of them.
40:04Nine points already for Watson
40:06here in the first half.
40:11Now, Westbrook
40:12on the dribble drive.
40:14Deflected by Murray out of bounds.
40:17Let's check in with Katie.
40:18I just want to elaborate a little bit
40:19on what Scott was referencing.
40:21Peyton Watson saying
40:21he's learned a lot
40:22from watching Christian Brown
40:23and the way that he cuts.
40:25It's become more natural
40:26leading to that.
40:27And Watson said he's one of the best players
40:29he's seen at being in the right place
40:31at the right time.
40:32Specifically pointing out
40:33Brown's positioning on late cutting
40:35and how he surfs the line
40:36is how Watson describes it.
40:38He said there are times with Jokic
40:39when he picks up the ball
40:40people just assume
40:41that he's going to shoot it
40:42but oftentimes he passes
40:43and Watson has learned
40:44from watching Christian Brown
40:45in those situations
40:46finding those openings.
40:47And guess you missed
40:48a pregame show.
40:50Aaron Gordon was taking some reps.
40:53We didn't get a chance
40:54to see Christian Brown
40:55but all reports are
40:58that the going is getting good
41:00for both those guys.
41:01They're not going to be back
41:02tomorrow or the next day.
41:04David Adelman said
41:05not before the holiday
41:07but improvement
41:09and I think that's good.
41:11Chris Marlowe and Scott Aces
41:12you heard from Katie Wenge
41:15now Valanchunas
41:17get it out by Raynaud
41:19and Valanchunas puts it in.
41:20He is so efficient.
41:22He's got that little jumper.
41:23He's got the big claw hook
41:25and he can slam
41:28with the best of them.
41:29Wrong range.
41:31Doug McDermott
41:32who we haven't seen much
41:33in the first three games.
41:37That shot short.
41:38Another rebound.
41:39And that's two offensive rebounds
41:42on the same play.
41:44Don't want to give
41:45a team three opportunities.
41:4759-44.
41:51And Watson
41:53hits the deck.
41:55Now Murray against Murray.
41:58Murray
41:59pass it out.
42:00Watson from the wing
42:02and he's fouled
42:03by Doug McDermott.
42:05So McDermott
42:07the one-time
42:08Nuggets draftee
42:09hasn't played much
42:11still with a deadly
42:12jump shot.
42:14The four games
42:15has the last 23 days
42:16against these two teams
42:18and the first time
42:18we've seen Doug.
42:22Yeah Doug Christie
42:23choosing not to use him.
42:25It seems to me

44:22finishing.
44:23That's one of the keys
44:24to him taking
44:25another step up.
44:27Absolutely.
44:29When he's finishing
44:30he goes beyond
44:32having good games
44:33to really great games
44:34because he adds
44:34the element of scoring.
44:36We know he's going
44:36to be there for
44:37defense.
44:38We know he's
44:39lately really been
44:40there good rebounding.
44:42But when he's
44:43finished, watch out.

45:50Well,
45:51congratulations.
45:52I've always been a girl,
45:53grandpa.

46:28right now.
46:29watching the Nuggets game
46:31on her phone.
46:34There's a little
46:34altitude plus right there
46:35watching her phone.
46:37That's still recovering
46:38in the hospital room.
46:39How about that?
46:40And her little daughter,
46:43Patty,
46:43big basketball fan.
46:45They watch the Nuggets
46:46now all the time.

47:07Ellis.
47:07Biggest lead for the Nuggets
47:08was 22 at one point.
47:12They have controlled the action
47:14here in the second quarter.
47:15Right here.
47:16Hey, Murray's got it
47:17off the steal.
47:21A turnover for Westbrook.
47:29Jokic counseling
47:30Spencer Jones.
47:34You know what?
47:35You're playing
47:36G League games last year.
47:38Sitting up here
47:39once in a while.
47:40You're 2A player.
47:42You get put on the thing
47:43and you get
47:44a three-time MVP
47:45and maybe the best player
47:46in the league
47:47sitting there talking to you
47:48the whole time.
47:49Yeah.
47:50You're talking about
47:51Spencer Jones.
47:52Yeah.
47:52Yeah.
47:52He had the great quote.
47:53He said,
47:54I've gone from playing in the
47:55G League to guarding
47:56Hall of Famers in one season.
48:00Murray misses a free throw.
48:02That's an anomaly.
48:02crowd giving him the business now.
48:16Loud business.
48:21In the first three games
48:23against the Kings,
48:24Murray has averaged
48:2520 and a half points,
48:26eight assists.

49:16Westbrook going to try
49:17to back down Murray.

49:22Reno stripped
49:24and went right to Westbrook.
49:28And Westbrook will shoot too.
49:30One thing about Westbrook,
49:31he's always been a great scorer,
49:32but he's also a terrific rebounder,
49:35particularly on the offensive.
49:36He averaged a triple-double twice.
49:38He went up with rebounds
49:39and he understands
49:42he's never been the greatest
49:43shooter in the world,
49:44but he understands
49:45he can get easy baskets
49:47just hanging around that rim.
49:50Westbrook prethrow good.
