00:00Today we're going to be taking a look at one of the most anticipated titles of all time,
00:09the once cancelled but never forgotten Batman Arkham Knight.
00:12This is 10 things we just can't wait to see.
00:17First up, the new Batmobile.
00:18The new version of the Batmobile is taking a page out of a Nolan-style tumbler, albeit
00:21with a wider overall frame and far more gadgets.
00:24It's not just an aesthetic change though.
00:26As the Batmobile trailer shows, we're getting a whole host of weapons to try out.
00:29Apparently the whole thing plays a bit like Burnout Paradise in terms of speed and feel,
00:33which we don't know about you, but they sound pretty sweet.
00:36Next up is in addition to Batman's stealthy arsenal, the new fear takedown, something that
00:40the creators have said you can execute if you get the heart rates of three nearby guards
00:44simultaneously racing.
00:46Beforehand there wasn't a whole lot of point to scaring the crap out of people, but now
00:49Rocksteady have added this lightning-fast animation that sees you dart from one to the next, leaving
00:53them all in one pile of broken bones and groans.
00:57First up is the idea of prowling through Gotham at night, in a hugely expansive open world.
01:01Will there be anything better than dispatching a few teams of thugs only to call your Batmobile
01:05as you walk away and burn up into the night towards the next situation?
01:07Although in Arkham Knight it seems the pedestrians have been evacuated, it's easy to see evidence
01:11that the whole place was thoroughly lived in, not hours before your time on the streets.
01:15From neon lights to steam grates, shop fronts and a dominating skyline, glitching on the
01:19edge of any high point before diving off down into the depths and letting your cape flare and
01:22catch you at the last minute will surely be one of the defining aspects of Arkham Knight.
01:28Next we want more memorable fights with all of Batman's iconic villains.
01:31We got a taste for how the line-up's going to go, but as was the case with Arkham City,
01:35there were far more people involved in proceedings than what we initially thought.
01:38Nobody knew the reveals of people like Clayface or Ra's al Ghul until the exact moment Rocksteady
01:42wanted them to.
01:43Therefore, we can only hope that although there's been a confirmed list of familiar faces, Two-Face,
01:47Harley Quinn, The Penguin, The Riddler and The Arkham Knight himself, there's still plenty
01:51more waiting in the wings to get stuck into.
01:54One of the most important things though, is how Rocksteady are going to handle the Joker's
01:58absence.
01:59Last seen being carried out of the Arkham City prison by the Dark Knight himself after
02:01accidentally smashing the antidote to his own poison, we're all but sure we've seen
02:04the last of the Mark Hamill-voiced maniac.
02:06Rocksteady remained pretty tight-lipped on the whole thing too, occasionally breaking silence
02:10to confirm that he's not in the game.
02:12Although Arden fans simply refuse to believe them, as after the whole Joker was Clayface thing
02:16in City, anything's possible.
02:19It's about time we got a true, next generation experience that only feels like it's possible
02:23on the new generation of hardware.
02:24For the most part, this isn't a knock against the quality of the titles that are out so far,
02:28although Watch Dogs seems to have become the industry's whipping boy.
02:30But the real brass tacks of the matter is that many of us had our hopes pinned on Arkham's
02:33original October release date, and we're looking forward to it being the first big title
02:37we could get stuck into.
02:38Since that date is no longer in motion, we can only assume it's due to Rocksteady upping
02:42the ante on the project overall.
02:43To fully deliver an experience that's definitely worth the wait.
02:47One of the main reasons long-time fans of watching Batman on screens of all sizes are hyped beyond
02:52belief is the return of Kevin Conroy.
02:54Now 54, the ageing actor's potentially croakier pipes will suit the character perfectly, hopefully
02:58playing him as the older, wiser badass we now know he is.
03:02Then there's the suit.
03:03We've seen the Batmobile, and we've seen the potential for a whole horde of villains
03:06to take on.
03:07But what good is that if the Batman himself isn't encapsulating the total unbridled bringer
03:10of justice we've all come to love?
03:12In the Nolan trilogy, many thought that the change from having a cowl to that of a movable neckpiece
03:16made the costume look a little bit strange.
03:18Here, however, the Bat silhouette is in perfect form, thanks to a perfect balance between the
03:21two.
03:22It's great to see Rocksteady creating a costume that's less made of flexible material
03:26and moulded with many smaller, interlocking parts.
03:29One of the biggest questions going in still revolves around the identity of the titular
03:32character, with everyone from Bruce's father Thomas to the Joker and even Harley Quinn
03:36being tossed around as potential candidates.
03:38Our bet is that this is just one ace in the hole that Rocksteady are keeping tighter to
03:41their chest than Tony Stark's chest magnet.
03:43This is their biggest selling point for fans new and old.
03:48Some people say that Nolan scuffed it up.
03:50Well, we want to see how Rocksteady handle the end of their own trilogy, as this is the
03:54real test of how much creative control they can exert over Warner Bros.
03:57We already know that they let them kill Joker in part 2, not as long as he stays dead that
04:01is.
04:02But as was the general notion in regards to Batman potentially meeting his maker as we went
04:04into The Dark Knight Rises, there's an encroaching feeling that this could be the final
04:07entry in the Arkham series too, because Rocksteady have confirmed that this is the last one they're
04:12ever going to make.
04:13We're living in a world where the backlash from Dark Knight Rises is very much known,
04:16and going by how well Rocksteady know the mythos along with the decisions they've made
04:19so far, we can't wait to see what their final scene is going to be.
04:24So what are you looking forward to doing as soon as Arkham Knight finally lands next year?
