00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the greatest games to come
00:14out across the first half of 2024.
00:26Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door
00:36Fans have been begging Nintendo for what feels like eons to give Thousand-Year Door some
00:40manner of remaster.
00:41Its enduring legacy as one of Mario's best titles practically demanded it.
00:45So when it was revealed that the pint-sized plumber's adventures across the 2D origami
00:49landscape was getting a top-to-bottom remake, everyone lost their collective minds.
00:53The final verdict?
00:54Pretty damn good.
00:59Sure, the only real changes are minor quality-of-life updates, an obvious visual upgrade, and some
01:08helpful hints to assist with progression.
01:10But really, that's all they needed to do.
01:12The fundamentals are still incredible, and now multiple generations can experience it.
01:24Prince of Persia The Lost Crown
01:25It has been a crazy year for Metroidvanias, and while we are certainly starting to feel
01:37the fatigue, there were a few standouts that had no reason to be this good.
01:41Not only is The Lost Crown a very solid example of the genre with its fast and flashy combat,
01:46but it finally gave this alien series the breath of fresh air it needed while the Sands
01:49of Time remake is in development, now slated for 2026.
02:01The story may be a tad bare-bones, but the spectacle of every boss fight and the vastness
02:06of its interconnected map offers a hell of a good time.
02:08A rare Ubisoft win these days.
02:20Unicorn Overlord
02:27Vanillaware are no strangers to quality, but this just might be their magnum opus.
02:31Blending real-time strategy with all the bells and whistles we've come to expect from a classic
02:35RPG, players must chart a campaign across the realm to gather their armies and reclaim
02:40their birthright as king.
02:48With over 60 possible characters to recruit, a highly addictive combat cycle, gorgeously
02:53rendered 2D artwork, and countless customization options for your party, it is scarily easy
02:57to bury hundreds of hours into this.
03:00And yes, there are marriage options.
03:11Like A Dragon – Infinite Wealth
03:20You can take the boys out of the Yakuza, but not the Yakuza out of the boys.
03:24Blending together the franchise's two most beloved, along with Like A Dragon's unique
03:28take on combat, Ichiban and Kiryu's exploits across Hawaii has all the craziness, drama,
03:33and badass brawls you could want.
03:35Seriously, there's almost too much to do here.
03:45When you're not trying to solve the central mystery, you're pursuing a myriad of batshit
03:48side quests, unlocking a seemingly never-ending collection of abilities, and just marvelling
03:53at these two find trouble everywhere they go.
04:04Tekken 8
04:14Despite an enduring legacy as one of the pinnacle fighting game titles, it's fair to say Tekken
04:18hadn't been at the forefront of mainstream minds in recent years.
04:22Until now, that is.
04:23Tekken 8 not only perfected its mechanics and rocketed itself back to the status of
04:27fighting game in the competitive scene, but also hooked plenty of non-fighting fans.
04:37Easy to learn, hard to master controls, along with a meaty roster of combatants has since
04:41made die-hard devotees out of casuals alike, so don't be shocked if you're decimated
04:46as soon as you dare to step into the online arena.
04:56Animal Well
05:04Another metroidvania, and yet so much more, Animal Well is a strange, psychedelic experience
05:09that has you, as a blob, make its way through an unsettling world rife with danger and beauty.
05:14Though describing in such basic terms does it a disservice, this is one you'll need
05:18to dive in and soak up for yourself.
05:27The puzzles are simple in their presentation, yet require all manner of out-of-the-box thinking
05:31to solve.
05:32The visuals constantly switch between calming and truly horrifying, all the while offering
05:37plenty of literal rabbit holes for those wanting to delve deeper.
05:40Lightning in a bottle or a monumental trendsetter, congrats to Dunkey and developer Shared Memory
05:45for this huge hit.
05:52Bellatro
06:00Roguelike poker with more build options than there are actual card games in existence is
06:04not something we expected to find ourselves addicted to, but that's the indie scene
06:07for you.
06:08And make no mistake, this thing will become your new obsession.
06:11The premise is so simple, build your deck, play the right hand, and score enough to beat
06:15the blind.
06:23Of course, with the more decks you unlock, the more challenges and creative ways to beat
06:27your previous run become available.
06:29It's all the fun of a gambling addiction without having to lose anything of value, except for
06:33your sleep cycle, social life, and everything not connected to those jokers.
06:43Helldivers 2
06:53Do you love democracy?
06:54Do you love liberty and breathe liberty?
06:56Well, you'd better lock and load and start dispensing peace against every bug in sight
07:01in what has proven to be one of the most enjoyable co-op games we've seen in a long time.
07:05With a planet full of alien insects and a whole lot of friendly fire, blasting your
07:08way across every stage in the name of freedom has proven itself to be one of the defining
07:13events in the gaming spheres as of late.
07:23Third person shooting has honestly never felt like such a blast, especially with friends.
07:28Now if Sony can hopefully keep their stuff together, long may the bug bloodshed continue.
07:40Number 2 – Persona 3 Reload
07:49For many, Persona 3 was often touted as the darkest, and subsequently greatest entry in
07:54this beloved JRPG juggernaut, and thanks to this latest remake, newcomers can see it
07:59clear as day.
08:00The investigation into the Dark Hour is style and substance in equal measure.
08:12When you're not hunting through Tartarus and strengthening your collection of Personas,
08:15you're exploring the town and building bonds with some of the franchise's most unique
08:19and charming companions.
08:20Add to it a few alterations to increase the accessibility and diminish its more fatiguing
08:24factors and you've got a game dripping with appeal.
08:36Before we reveal our number one pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
08:40Dragon's Dogma 2
08:49Leather Crab's Treasure
09:00Hell Guardsman

09:25Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
09:33What Remake showed us was possible, Rebirth delivered in abundance.
09:37While one could say it slightly buckles under the weight of just how much content it offers
09:41and yes, there are narrative changes, that doesn't take away from just how insanely
09:46epic Cloud and Company's quest to Midgar truly is.
09:56Combat has never been bigger nor better, it would be easier to list which mini-games weren't
10:01included and, lest we forget, this game made Cloud X Tifa canon.
10:05No matter how this trilogy concludes, every moment in Rebirth was well and truly worth
10:09it.
