00:00Travelers coming to the U.S. from more than three dozen countries could soon be required to submit
00:05the last five years of their social media activity before being allowed in. And we're not just
00:11talking about countries with a problematic track record. The list includes U.S. allies like
00:16Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom. The proposal
00:22filed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection would require the submission for anyone applying for
00:27what's called an electronic travel authorization, which allows people to spend 90 days in the
00:32states without a visa. The plan also adds requirements for travelers to submit the names, birth dates,
00:38places of birth, and addresses of immediate family members, even if they aren't traveling to the U.S.
00:45The new requirements would go into effect next year, just in time for tens of thousands of foreign
00:51visitors who will be traveling to the country for next summer's World Cup. But if you're rich and
