The prosecution has withdrawn its appeal against a High Court decision that acquitted and discharged Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor of 12 charges of money laundering involving more than RM7mil and five charges of failing to declare her income to the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).

00:00The prosecution has withdrawn its appeal against the High Court's acquittal of Datin
00:06Sri Rosma Mansour on 12 money laundering charges involving over RM7 million and five
00:12counts of failing to declare income to the Inland Revenue Board .
00:17The notice of withdrawal was filed on Dec. 9 at the Court of Appeal, and a letter from
00:23the deputy registrar confirmed that the Dec. 22 case management has been vacated, formally
00:29dismissing the appeal under Order 73 of the Court of Appeal Rules .
00:35Rosma's lawyer, Datuk Amer Hamza Arshad, described the High Court ruling by Judge K. Munyandi
00:41as appropriate and fair, and said Rosma and her team are pleased that justice has been
00:46served.
00:48On Dec. 19, 2024, Judge Munyandi quashed all 17 charges, ruling the prosecution had failed
00:55to establish key elements of money laundering.
00:58Rosma, 74, had filed to strike out the charges in September 2023, after her trial began on
01:05August 24, 2023, with only two witnesses testifying.
01:11She had pleaded not guilty on October 4, 2018, to the 12 money laundering charges and five counts
01:18of failing to declare income to the LHDN, committed between December 2013 to June 2017 and May 2014
01:28to May 2018.
01:30Rosma is also appealing her 10-year jail sentence and 970 million ringgit fine in the corruption
01:36case involving the Solar Hybrid Rural Schools project.
