Trump unveiled the Gold Card Visa Programme, a high-value immigration pathway offering accelerated U.S. residency to wealthy applicants and sponsoring companies. Individuals must pay a non-refundable fee plus a $1 million contribution, while firms can secure fast-track citizenship for employees with larger payments. A premium Platinum Card promises extended stay, tax exemptions, and guaranteed citizenship. Despite claims of record processing speeds, critics warn of inequality and unclear DHS vetting standards, leaving significant concerns unresolved.

00:00President Donald Trump has introduced a sweeping new immigration initiative, the Trump Gold Card,
00:21a visa program designed to attract high net worth investors to the United States.
00:27Announced during a roundtable with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and top tech executives,
00:33the administration is pitching it as a faster, more privileged path to residency than a traditional
00:39green card.
00:40We just launched the Trump Gold Card, it was about 30 minutes from now, the site goes up
00:50and all funds go to the United States government, could be a tremendous amount of money.
00:56It'll also be able to have people like this keep, as an example, just one example, there
01:01are a lot of examples, people just buying them.
01:03It's somewhat like a green card, but with big advantages over a green card.
01:09And companies are just going to be able to go to the Wharton School of Finance, Stern Business
01:16School, Harvard, MIT, wherever you may get your students, any school, and you're able to buy
01:26a card and keep that person in the United States.
01:31According to the program's website, the Gold Card targets individuals who can, quote, provide
01:37a substantial benefit to the United States.
01:40Applicants begin by paying a $15,000 non-refundable processing fee.
01:46If approved, they must then make a $1 million gift to the U.S. government.
01:52After Department of Homeland Security vetting, the administration says recipients will receive
01:57residency in record time, with rights largely aligned to those of a permanent resident.
02:03Two additional tiers are also in development.
02:06The Trump Platinum Card, currently available only by waitlist, will allow future applicants
02:12to live in the United States for up to 270 days a year without paying taxes on foreign
02:18income.
02:20The price?
02:21The same $15,000 fee followed by a $5 million contribution.
02:26In exchange, the administration says citizenship will be guaranteed once DHS approval is complete.
02:33There is also a corporate version.
02:35The Trump corporate gold card allows companies to sponsor employees for U.S. citizenship.
02:42Businesses pay $15,000 upfront per worker, followed by a $2 million fee once vetting is completed.
02:49An annual maintenance fee may be added later.
02:52The White House says all proceeds from the gold, platinum and corporate cards will go directly
02:57to the U.S. Treasury.
02:59President Trump describes the program as generating many billions of dollars that will be directed
03:05toward national priorities, placed into what he calls an account for positive things for
03:11the country.
03:12But several uncertainties remain.
03:14The administration has not clarified how long DHS vetting will take, what the specific
03:20screening requirements are, or whether any countries will be excluded.
03:24The cards may be revoked if recipients pose national security or other threats, and applicants
03:30will still be required to pay U.S. taxes like other residents and citizens.
03:36The visas last three years and can be extended once for a total of six.
03:41All applicants must hold at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant specialty field.
03:47Trump says there will be no cap on the number of cards issued, framing the initiative as
03:52a way to bring the best of the best into the country.
03:56The proposal marks a major turn toward investment-based immigration, emphasizing capital inflows and
04:02corporate retention of global talent.
04:05Supporters argue it will strengthen U.S. competitiveness.
04:09Customers warn it may widen inequities and reshape the immigration system around wealth.
