Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Corina Machado stunned supporters in Norway after appearing on the balcony of Oslo’s Grand Hotel, just hours after secretly fleeing Venezuela. The 58-year-old opposition figure, who had been under a decade-long travel ban and spent more than a year in hiding, arrived in Oslo in the middle of the night after missing the official award ceremony. Machado waved to crowds, sang Venezuela’s national anthem, and later greeted supporters on the street in an emotional public appearance that capped her dramatic escape from Caracas.
