00:00U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday, December 10th, that the Federal Reserve's interest rate cut was small and that it could have been larger.
00:08Trump spoke at the White House during a roundtable with business leaders after the Fed cut the benchmark policy interest rate by a quarter of percentage point to 3.50% to 3.75% range.
00:21Trump called Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell a deadhead and a stiff, and he said the rates in the U.S. should be the lowest in the world.
00:29We should be able to do a lot better than 3 and 4.
00:33We're scheduled to be at 4%, which is pretty amazing because we have a, you know, a deadhead Fed here.
00:40I mean, this guy, the head of the Federal Reserve is a stiff.
00:46And, you know, you fight that.
00:48It's amazing.
00:50We fight that, and yet interest rates are going down, except with him, not too much.
00:56He did a rather, I would say, a rather small number that could have been doubled, at least doubled.
01:06You know, I've wanted to say it.
01:09I do say it.
01:10I believe it.
01:11And we have to get a mindset that when a country is doing well, you don't want to kill the growth.
01:18That's what they're doing.
01:18They kill the growth.
01:20I don't know if you guys even agree with that.
01:21They kill the growth because they're so afraid of inflation.
01:24But you can have tremendous growth without inflation.
01:27Everything goes up with the growth.
01:29But that's not inflation.
01:31So I think we can do much better than traditional numbers.
01:34Trump, who is selecting someone to take over as chair of the Federal Reserve, said he was meeting with former Fed Governor Kevin Walsh.
