Questions remain unanswered surrounding several bush fires that destroyed homes and buildings across the state. But relief could be on its way with hopes rain forecast over the coming days will dampen conditions.

00:00As a bushfire raged in the Bulladila region, residents say a planned power outage put a pause on their emergency response.
00:10The Premier has described the maintenance work by Essential Energy as a tough judgement call.
00:16I think in retrospect if they had their time again they wouldn't have gone ahead with it.
00:19Four homes were lost in the fire and with no power, locals missed messages about the dangerous conditions.
00:26I probably would have left earlier if we had power.
00:29It's still going to require Essential Energy working with RFS and Fire and Rescue about when is the right time to go ahead with this maintenance and there's not a one-size-fits-all situation.
00:41And the extent of the damage from a bushfire near Lithgow yesterday is still unknown.
00:46Moved from 100 hectares to 500 hectares in a very short period of time.
00:51At Kuliwong on the central coast, investigators are still trying to find the cause of a blaze which destroyed 16 homes and damaged 23 others.
01:01There is no evidence at this stage to suggest that there's any deliberate act there.
01:05So this is, I hope, a bit of comfort for the community to know that.
01:09As more than 40 fires continue to burn across New South Wales, there's some relief in sight.
01:14Weather modelling is predicting on average 20 to 50 millimetres of rain across firegrounds from the central west, the mid-north coast and Hunter Valley.
01:24Hopes the wetter climate will reduce the threat of fires like these.
