Transcript
00:00Many plant parents have good luck with their holiday cactus as they will bloom once or
00:04even twice per year with little to no effort on their part. However, to ensure blooming at the
00:10right time there are a few extra steps you can take. Once the plant has ceased all flowering
00:16or about six to eight weeks before you want the plant to re-bloom, you should allow the plant to
00:21begin its dormancy cycle. First, cut back on watering and reduce both light and temperature.
00:27Plants should receive 12 to 14 hours of darkness per day with an average temperature of only 50 to 55
00:34degrees Fahrenheit. The remaining 10 to 12 hours of the day the plant can stay in a well-lit area
00:39with temperatures averaging 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the flower buds appear,
00:44slowly acclimate it back to its original location and resume normal care. Now you'll have the know-how
00:51to re-bloom your cactus just in time for the holiday season. Until next time, happy gardening!
