00:00Life-changing prize.
00:01Can't believe we're here.
00:03Stunning.
00:04Book a desk for you, Brett.
00:05Welcome to the best bed and breakfast.
00:08The keys to their own dream five-bedroom B&B.
00:14Four expert judges put them under the spotlight.
00:19Slightly chaotic, as they say, up north.
00:22The competition has been so tough this week.
00:24They did drop the ball pretty, pretty, pretty badly.
00:28Whoa.
00:28Across two weeks, they hosted real guests
00:31and tackled intense challenges every day.
00:35Whoa.
00:36Look at it. Stop asking me questions.
00:38I've posed it all up again.
00:40Right, we have a problem.
00:41At which point do we start to panic?
00:44Now, six couples have become four.
00:47No!
00:49Actually, actually...
00:51Thank you so much.
00:54This week, the final four will be pushed to their limits.
00:59They'd have to do everything right this week.
01:02The competition is fiercer than ever.
01:04Now you're real on, is it here?
01:06How do you spell team love?
01:07Breast forgotten tomatoes.
01:09Don't panic.
01:10Because at the end of this week, someone will walk away with a new life in France.
01:16You have won the bed and breakfast.
01:19Previously...
01:21Are you ready for this fight?
01:23Bring it on!
01:24The dream came within reach.
01:26Wow!
01:27Oh, my God!
01:30As the finalists plotted a future that could be theirs.
01:34I'm lost for words.
01:35I want it so, so bad.
01:37Oh, my God!
01:38Hello there!
01:39And Nicola and Roy...
01:41Here we go.
01:42...began their fight to claim it.
01:45There's a lot of silence.
01:46The sun is up and the heat is on for the finalists battling to win the B&B of their dreams.
02:04Oh, Steve, I'm loving this, you.
02:06Oh, look at it.
02:07The Jacksons are here.
02:11Oh, Steve.
02:12This is special.
02:13We really want this, don't we?
02:15Come on!
02:18I'm cutting up the soda bread for the judges' breakfast.
02:22And they can have it with homemade marmalade and jam.
02:26Or a big slab of butter.
02:28I'm not nervous.
02:29I always say them, just like the little duck.
02:32Nice and calm on top and then down here.
02:36Bonjour.
02:37Deux cafés.
02:38Deux cafés.
02:39Si vous plaît.
02:40Si vous plaît.
02:41We want this as a family-run business.
02:43We want to pass this down to our children and maybe to their children and have this property and our family for years and years.
02:52This looks lovely, doesn't it?
02:54It's quite nice.
02:56It's a nice picture.
02:57A bit more relaxing.
02:58Yeah.
03:00This is just the start and I think we've worked really hard to start it.
03:03I feel like we deserve it.
03:05The finals week is off the starting blocks.
03:15What's good?
03:16Well, it's very good, yeah.
03:17And the pressure is on because this week the judges are staying over so they can experience each couple's culinary and hosting skills 24-7.
03:27Last time, in the heats, they had the luxury of being in their own property.
03:33Yeah.
03:34Here they're having to host us.
03:36And only 24 hours.
03:38Exactly.
03:38And they have to shine for those 24 hours.
03:41First up, Nicola and Roy, who are now halfway through their time hosting the guests who can change their lives.
03:48I did feel a little bit trepid about coming and being a guest because we've only observed prior, but I walked through the door and it just felt like we were actually having a little holiday.
04:10It feels like they've been living in the house for months.
04:13And I keep telling myself, this is about running a B&B.
04:16It is, and we've got to feel that we could sit, relax, have a drink, have a chat to them, go and sit in the garden, eat a book if we want.
04:24I feel I could walk down there now and it wouldn't matter what they were doing, what they were up to, they'd give me a warm welcome.
04:30Yeah.
04:32I've had a cry this morning because I went in to set the dining table and realised that this is the first and last breakfast we'll ever do,
04:43or this is the first of many, many breakfasts we'll do.
04:46And I just had a bit of a, I've had my 10% wobble today and I had a cry because neither of us want to leave this house,
04:57but we know we have to today to let the other people have their turn.
05:00But now comes Nicola and Roy's biggest challenge, because in the heat weeks, it was the breakfast that tripped them up.
05:14Breakfast this time, we're not taking no risks.
05:17It'll be a traditional French breakfast.
05:19I think the first time we elaborate it in too much.
05:22We are doing eggs because it's a simple thing, as long as the poached eggs aren't served cold.
05:30Was that a dig at me, darling?
05:32No, darling.
05:32So I took it out and put it in a plate there, right?
05:39So I put all my yoghurts in there and it'll look all nice and pretty.
05:43And I'll keep it nice and cool.
05:47Good morning.
05:48Morning.
05:49Good morning.
05:50How are you?
05:51Did you sleep okay?
05:52Yes, how did you sleep?
05:53Yes, very well.
05:54Very, very well.
05:55Excited for another day.
05:56You want to take a seat in the dining room?
05:59Sure, thank you very much.
06:00I think he's realised very quickly that there were issues with some of the dishes, especially the eggs benedicts.
06:06So I'm hoping he's toned everything down and just focused on delivering a high-quality breakfast.
06:13Morning.
06:13Good morning, Nicola.
06:15How are you?
06:15How are you?
06:15How are we?
06:16You okay?
06:17Yes.
06:18Did you sleep okay?
06:19Oh, absolutely.
06:19Are you?
06:20Yes, like a top.
06:21They were quite ambitious in their choices of breakfast in the first week.
06:25So they got themselves into a bit of a pickle.
06:28Good morning.
06:29Good morning, Andrew.
06:30How are you?
06:31Yeah, how's good?
06:32Good morning.
06:32How are you, brother?
06:33When you are a professional chef, come on.
06:35Yeah, bring it.
06:36Yeah, bring it on.
06:37Show us what you've got.
06:38Exactly.
06:39I think the girls have decided where you're sitting.
06:41Bonjour.
06:41Bonjour.
06:43You want us this side, do you?
06:45We want you to sit next to each other just in case you get separation anxiety, if you will.
06:49While it's Nicola and Roy's big moment, Michelle and Steve are waking up with a more relaxed start to the day.
07:03Do you want a coffee, Cheryl?
07:05Oh, yes, please.
07:07They're staying at a treehouse B&B as part of their mission to build a standout business plan for the end of the week.
07:14Right, I'm on it, Steve. I'm raring to go.
07:19You've made yourself look pretty.
07:21It doesn't take a lot.
07:23You've been in there two hours.
07:28The owners of this unique B&B are Brits Nat and Andy, who moved to France ten years ago.
07:37And every morning, Nat delivers breakfast by hand.
07:42Bon appetit!
07:44Thank you!
07:46Come on, Cheryl, this is how you get muscles, this, innit?
07:50Oh.
07:51Oh, this looks posh, doesn't it?
07:53Right, go on, I love that.
07:55Right, come on, let's have a look.
07:58How do you open it, then?
07:59I love the excitement of what's in there.
08:02Oh, my God!
08:03How beautiful is this?
08:05Oh, you can smell it.
08:07Yeah.
08:07You can smell bakery.
08:09Oh, pan of chocolates.
08:10No, there's a proper word for that.
08:12Pan de chocolat.
08:13Yes.
08:18Wow.
08:19There you go.
08:21No, I'm having a caution.
08:22I mean, this is on another level.
08:26It's wowsers, you know, and that's what we want.
08:29When they walk into our prize home, we want them to say, wowsers.
08:34Do you know what?
08:37It's made us realise even more that this is what we want to do.
08:41We want to host, we want to look after people, we want to have fun with people.
08:45And you know what?
08:47This has just absolutely put the fire in the belly even more.
08:50Oh, I didn't think it could, but it did.
08:57Bye!
08:58Bye!
08:59Bye!
08:59Bye!
08:59Bye!
09:00Bye!
09:00Bye!
09:00Bye!
09:00Bye!
09:00Bye!
09:01Bye!
09:01Bye!
09:01Bye!
09:01Bye!
09:02Bye!
09:02Bye!
09:02Bye!
09:07I think they've got great personality.
09:09I think they'll be incredible hosts.
09:11I wish them the best of luck.
09:12I have no doubt they'll do very well.
09:14Yeah.
09:14I think they're really nice people and they'll go far.
09:19As Michelle and Steve leave bursting with ideas, they've left behind one of their own,
09:25just in case Nat and Andy fancy following in their unique footsteps.
09:32Meanwhile, it's crunch time at the prize B&B.
09:43Here's food.
09:44Oh, lots of it.
09:46And lots of it.
09:46I hope you're hungry.
09:48So, a pan of chocolate.
09:51And after issues in heat week, there's simply no room for error.
09:56And we have, um, this one.
10:01Oh, yeah.
10:02Crozoa cake.
10:03Crozoa cake?
10:04Yeah.
10:05Made with, um, um, hazelnuts from the region.
10:07Oh.
10:08Okay.
10:09There's some yogurts there.
10:10There's more as well.
10:11It's just, that's all would fit in the dish.
10:13Wow.
10:14That's pretty.
10:15Oh, wow.
10:16Did you ice the dish?
10:17Aww.
10:18I've made a, I'm glad you noticed.
10:19I made a little ring then, put flowers in it, just to make it look nice and keep the
10:22yogurts.
10:23That's very pretty.
10:24Nicola, you could wear that as a crown.
10:26It would melt very quickly.
10:33The judges need to see improvement today, and local produce will be the key.
10:39This is so good.
10:40It is good.
10:41You're, that's very clever.
10:42So, who made the cake?
10:43Me.
10:44Delicious.
10:45It is lovely.
10:46Mmm.
10:47It's very good.
10:48Very good.
10:49It's a lovely bite from the hazelnuts as well, still.
10:51Mmm.
10:52Mmm.
10:53Good.
10:54Just in case it's not enough, would anyone like any eggs?
10:57Boiled?
10:58Poached?
10:59Scramble?
11:00Honestly, I...
11:01Everyone okay?
11:02Yeah.
11:03Yeah?
11:04I think this is great.
11:06Is this the soda bread?
11:07That's the Irish soda bread.
11:08Ah, what you mean for us?
11:09Yes.
11:10Ah, what you mean for us?
11:11Yes.
11:12Bambulous.
11:13So, hope you enjoy it.
11:16With four very good hosts this week, no one can afford any slip ups.
11:21This week, all judges will have to be even more critical of everything because the price
11:26is so big.
11:28I think this competition is going to make or break people, you know, and really see who
11:34can actually run a B&B and who can't.
11:37I mean, if they're not on form every minute of those 24 hours, they could drop the ball.
11:43Have you tried your orange juice yet?
11:45Yeah.
11:46Is it good?
11:47Revolting.
11:48Revolting.
11:49In the limousine, Nicole and Brett are out shopping in a local market, getting ready
12:06to take charge of the prize house.
12:08I think we'll get a lot of things here to be honest.
12:11Yeah, I think you can get most things here.
12:13You can get your fresh bread if you want it.
12:15As the second hosts to enter the house, they'll need to show they can embed in this region.
12:21By providing a locally sourced dinner and breakfast.
12:26What are you doing, madam?
12:27Um, no hats.
12:28That's it.
12:29What?
12:30I guess we have to raise the bar this time.
12:33Maybe free in a few extra specials.
12:37Um, but I don't know how we're going to do that.
12:40We need to put our heads together and think.
12:42So, Brett, if we just pop the cherries on then with lovely croissants, just kind of put
12:47out that continental kind of...
12:49Yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:50And then we can talk about how they're seasonal.
12:52Merci.
12:53Merci.
12:54Merci.
12:55B&Bs in this region rely on dinners to bring in extra income.
13:00Don't think in the butchers, Brett.
13:02Okay, bacon, yeah.
13:04So, this challenge is designed to show who has the recipe for success.
13:11Je voudrais, toi, patron, fumig.
13:15This one?
13:16All right.
13:17We've had our feedback from the judges, so...
13:19We'll take it on board.
13:20Yeah, we've took it on board.
13:21They did mention the pressure and the stress maybe came across in our faces, so we do need
13:27to smile, like Brennan says, and have fun.
13:31That's perfect, perfect.
13:33We're good hosts, we're good learners, and we're just ready for this.
13:40Brett, that's like 10 euro for that.
13:42That's right, I know it's not right.
13:44It's not right.
13:45What?
13:46It's not right.
13:47What?
13:48Three...
13:49Oh!
13:50Okay.
13:51No, it's 310.
13:52310?
13:53Yeah.
13:54I got it.
13:55Merci.
13:58Shop complete.
13:59Now Nicole and Brett's 24 hours of scrutiny is about to begin.
14:04We are super ready.
14:06Let's go.
14:07Game one.
14:08We've been waiting for today, so we're ready.
14:11Meanwhile, it's time for the judge's verdict on Nicola and Roy's breakfast service.
14:26So, what do you think of the breakfast selection?
14:29Really good.
14:30Jolly good.
14:31Yeah.
14:32It's really good.
14:33The only thing is that orange juice is pretty grim.
14:35I'm really impressed that they've got the cake.
14:37The cake.
14:38Yeah.
14:39They've done their work.
14:40They've done their homework, their research.
14:41I liked being offered an egg as opposed to that being the breakfast.
14:45They are listening.
14:46They are.
14:47Definitely.
14:48And we've got a lovely service.
14:50So, you know, if that coffee pot went down, I'm sure somebody will notice.
14:55Yeah.
14:56That's the difference.
14:57Yeah.
14:58Later, Nicola and Roy have one final time to shine.
15:03Taking the judges on a trip to a bee farm.
15:07Okay, guys, you want to get ready and we'll head to the bee farm?
15:10Yeah.
15:11Fantastic.
15:13This day was wonderful.
15:17We loved being here and we loved hosting the guests.
15:21And it was just...
15:22It was home.
15:23It was homely.
15:24If I can explain that, when you walk into a property and it automatically becomes your
15:28home straight away, it's just amazing.
15:30We just hope it's not our last breakfast in the house.
15:33We hope it's the first of many.
15:35Leaving the house is going to be, yeah, emotional.
15:38And we just hope that we will be back.
15:43It recognizes us, the nice ones.
15:49The nice judges.
15:50The nice judges.
15:51Okay.
15:52Perfect.
15:53I hope next time we're coming here.
15:58Well, we are coming here again.
16:01We're unpacking our bags.
16:02Yeah.
16:03And hopefully this is not the end.
16:05I loved it.
16:06I don't think we could do any better.
16:07It's not the end.
16:08It's a start.
16:09Yeah, but there's three more couples to go.
16:10I know, love, but we've done our best.
16:12We did.
16:13We honestly...
16:14I tell you, I'm proud of you.
16:15I'm proud of you.
16:16Because we've done better than best.
16:17Yeah.
16:23Worked as a team.
16:24We did well.
16:25We did.
16:26Give us a hug.
16:27We did.
16:28We did.
16:29We did.
16:30We're about to go.
16:31Great idea.
16:32Let's go.
16:33Let's go.
16:34Let's go.
16:35Yeah.
16:36Let's go.
16:37All right.
16:38Armwards and upwards.
16:39I'll have you go first.
16:46Hi, We Room.
16:47See you soon.
16:48You've been very good to us.
16:50Big soft.
16:51Let's go.
16:52Let's go.
17:02As the door closes at the prize B&B for Nicola and Roy, it opens for the two new hosts.
17:08And it feels like home.
17:11Their 24 hours begins now.
17:14All right then.
17:15No pressure today.
17:16Nice and relaxed.
17:17I think you tackle the bedrooms.
17:19Yeah.
17:20Because I have a lot of chopping today for dinner.
17:23Have you got a checklist this time?
17:26Good.
17:27All on there.
17:28Good.
17:29Rooms.
17:30Got all my checklist.
17:31Click learning.
17:32With my pen.
17:38What I've got here is I've got some just bits for each room just to sort of pair our remark on it.
17:43So here we've got some bags of lavender and probably pair it on this bed.
17:47This week the rooms have already been cleaned because the judges are focusing on the hosting skills.
17:53The vital ingredient for any B&Ber.
17:58It's the people that make a B&Ber.
18:00It's a people job and it's you're pouring your heart and soul, your personality into everything that you do.
18:09They came in the most professional.
18:12They had a brand.
18:13They were gunning for it.
18:15The brand, brand, brand, brand, brand show.
18:17But I know nothing about Brett and Nicole.
18:20Cooking in this house is just unreal.
18:24It's really, really lovely.
18:26Tonight, Nicole and Brett need to show they can create a relaxed, stress-free atmosphere for guests.
18:33Brett?
18:34Yeah?
18:35Ten tomatoes?
18:36Uh...
18:38Okay, hang on.
18:40No, but did you put them away?
18:42No.
18:43Nicole and Brett's strength from the heat work was that they've came so well prepared.
18:50And if anything didn't go according to plan for Nicole, it added a layer of stress.
18:55So Brett forgot ten tomatoes.
18:59But I'm sure they were ticked off.
19:02And it was me that did the list.
19:04So we didn't get ten tomatoes then.
19:06You're gonna have to go and get them.
19:07Okay.
19:09How soon do you need them?
19:12Well, judges are coming at half four, so...
19:14Yes, but how soon do you need them?
19:15Probably now.
19:17Do you need them right now?
19:18Yeah.
19:20Go for it.
19:21Go for it.
19:22Awesome.
19:23The way I am then.
19:26Is this rims nearly set?
19:28Okay.
19:45Meanwhile, Nicola and Roy are heading to the local bee farm.
19:49Are you looking forward to today?
19:50Yes.
19:51Yes.
19:52Super excited.
19:53Let's go then.
19:54Okay.
19:55It's down to each host to choose the trip that best represents their USP.
20:01But that's not all the judges want to see.
20:04The most important thing for me is that it's not up to us to be the entertainment.
20:10We all in.
20:13For their personalities to come out.
20:15And the fun aspect as well, I really would like to see.
20:18Yeah.
20:19I mean, you could take anything and make it a great experience by injecting your personality.
20:25Sure.
20:27It's so beautiful out there.
20:28It's amazing.
20:29It's proper forest.
20:30It's like Ireland, only warmer.
20:33It is so green.
20:35So how did you find this place?
20:36How did that come about?
20:37I've always been interested in honey.
20:39Yeah.
20:40Always.
20:41I've never been a beekeeper.
20:42But I just adore the taste of it.
20:44It's a natural product.
20:46And hopefully we can do trips like this for our guests.
20:48All right, here we go.
20:49Today's outing is being led by Guillaume, who has two and a half million bees.
21:05This is the heart of the hive.
21:06And these are the extensions with the honey.
21:07Honey-making has a long history in this region.
21:08And Nicola and Roy are keen to use this product in their own B&B.
21:21So we always stay behind so we don't disturb them when they go out and in and out at the
21:30front.
21:31Wow.
21:33My goodness.
21:34Are they upset when they're taken out?
21:36He knows that this colony of bees are very calm.
21:39It has to go really slow so they've got time to move.
21:42They see it coming down.
21:44That's blew my mind, all the work they do.
21:48Last night Nicola and myself baked some little madeleines for you.
21:57I think it would be nice to try them with some honey.
22:00That's a great idea.
22:01Yeah.
22:02Now, you can tell which ones are covered in Belgian chocolate, can't you?
22:05Well, I'm going to go natural.
22:10Oh, it's amazing.
22:12Do you want to be handmade?
22:13Oh, thank you.
22:14Oh, you've really said about everything, haven't you?
22:16A little, honey.
22:17A little.
22:19Nicola and Roy have done all they can, and won't see the judges until the end of the week
22:24when they'll present their business plan.
22:27We look forward to seeing you on Friday, and in the meantime, use that time wisely.
22:31We will.
22:32We definitely will.
22:33Thank you very much.
22:34Thank you guys.
22:35Bye-bye.
22:36Enjoy.
22:38Bye.
22:40What a wonderful event.
22:41Fun, wasn't it?
22:42It really summed up their personalities, though.
22:46There was the fact that it was producing something natural.
22:49It was very relaxed.
22:51It was permaculture.
22:52It was integrated into the environment.
22:55Mm-hmm.
22:56There was the journey there.
22:57There was the chat at the end.
22:58Yeah.
22:59And we had a good crack, didn't we?
23:00Just being together.
23:01Yeah.
23:02And then they had the water refreshments, you know, the cakes after.
23:06Exactly.
23:07Yeah.
23:08It's them.
23:09It's them.
23:10Yeah.
23:11They're just lovely.
23:12Obviously, the next time we see the judges, they're not going to be our guests.
23:16They're going to be our judges, and they will judge.
23:18I think they'll be fierce.
23:19Yeah.
23:20Yeah.
23:21So, it'll be like ravening the headlamps.
23:23They'll have to do their job.
23:24Yeah.
23:25Absolutely.
23:26And we've got to be ready for that.
23:27Yeah.
23:30Meanwhile, as Nicola and Roy's 24 hours hosting is over, Brett and Nicole's is about to start.
23:38Success.
23:40That is mission success.
23:43Tim Peaches, Nicole.
23:45Are you actually having a laugh?
23:46They told us not to stress, and Europe wasn't extra stressed.
23:50You do the food, I'll do the whoops.
23:52Okay.
23:56Everyone always says it takes so long cooking a curry, but when you're used to cooking it at home, you're kind of quick.
24:01It's an easy one.
24:04We're just going to do something called a borrow basket.
24:06So, like, you know, if you forget a toothbrush, obviously you can't borrow a toothbrush and then put it back.
24:12That's yours to keep, but, you know, like, you know, there's some cotton buds there and, again, you can't put it back.
24:17But, you know, you can just help yourself to this and just take it.
24:20If you forget something, then it's there.
24:22It's there.
24:23It's now half past three and time is running out.
24:27It's nearly time the judges are coming.
24:29We need to start getting ready.
24:33They need to appear calm if the judges are to feel relaxed, too.
24:38Do you think I put myself under too much pressure, though?
24:42Er, no.
24:43I just think sometimes you're a little bit...
24:45What?
24:46Oh, gosh.
24:47You're like, don't stress, and then, oh, don't rush or rush or...
24:50I'm saying, don't stress.
24:52And with time running out, the tensions are once again starting to show.
24:58Obviously, we're in the final week now.
25:00It's even more serious than it was last week.
25:03There's so much at stake.
25:05They've only got less than 24 hours to prove themselves.
25:09Not everyone can deal with guests.
25:12Not everyone can deal with the pressure.
25:25It's late afternoon at the prize B&B.
25:28Hello.
25:29Where Brett and Nicole are welcoming the judges.
25:32How are you?
25:33I'm good.
25:35You all right?
25:36I think the judges are staying over so they can get the full guest experience.
25:41I think with a bed and breakfast particularly, the personality, the authenticity of your hosts is vital.
25:49It's the key ingredient.
25:51You know, we've seen the branding, we've seen the cooking.
25:55I now want to see what they are like as hosts.
26:00Oh, this is lovely.
26:01Yeah, that's great.
26:02So you're staying in Dreaming this evening.
26:04Fantastic.
26:05Obviously, the bathroom's in here and that's all got your toiletries and everything in.
26:09And if you need a demonstration on how to use a shower, I can show you how to turn it on but not wash yourself.
26:18I'm really looking forward to sitting down to dinner with them because I want, I want communication.
26:24I want to see how much they're willing to give of themselves.
26:27I just want the heart now.
26:29No.
26:30So, Ava, you're going to be staying in our tucked away room for this evening.
26:36And, Nicola, you will be in residence our stargazing.
26:39Oh, thank you.
26:43Wow.
26:44When night is dressed in diamonds bright, the sky sings softly through the night.
26:50Beneath this quiet, gentle sky, let your dreams like stars drift by.
26:56I like that.
26:57It's a very gentle reading.
27:01I'll see you down there.
27:03OK, settle in, Will.
27:04OK, thank you.
27:06When they were in the heat, they were quite stressed out, I think.
27:13And Brett, in particular, looks much more placid and calm here than he did.
27:21Come in.
27:23Hello.
27:24Hi again.
27:25Come in.
27:26Ava, I'm just seeing if you've settled in well.
27:29Yes, I've seen all your little touches.
27:31I'm amazed with how quickly you do things.
27:33It's like you've got an army of little elves behind you helping, you know.
27:38There's a nice link between everything with the lavender theme,
27:40the lavender cushion, the lavender little pouch, the soap,
27:43the actual lavender and everything.
27:45Just a sense of calmness for our guests.
27:48See you soon.
27:51Do you think the check-in went well then?
27:53Yeah, I thought it was really good.
27:55Today's got to be a chance for them to really get to know us though.
27:58Yeah.
27:59Our personalities are really going to have to shine.
28:01As well as lavender and poems, Nicole and Brett are hoping to win over the judges with a welcome gift of chai tea and biscuits.
28:10Hello.
28:11Hello.
28:12Wow.
28:13So we've got a bit of chai tea here for you to try.
28:17It's only a bit because we don't want you to spoil your dinner.
28:21Oh!
28:22Very good.
28:23They're locally sourced French butter shortbread biscuits.
28:28And, of course, I thought I'll get a personalized residence hour.
28:40As Nicole and Brett complete their check-in, Justin and Paul are working on their business plan.
28:46And, today, they're heading to a B&B where they're sure to be inspired.
28:52We'll just have to bombard them with questions, won't we?
28:55This is Chez Jalot, a five-bedroom B&B where style is top of the agenda.
29:07It's run by Brits Heidi and Anthony, who moved here in 2015.
29:17Wow.
29:18Amazing.
29:19Look at the shutters.
29:20Hello.
29:21Really pretty.
29:22Hello.
29:23Hello.
29:24Hello.
29:25Nice to meet you.
29:27Hi.
29:28Welcome to Chez Jalot.
29:29I'm Justin.
29:30Hi, I'm Heidi.
29:31Anthony.
29:32Nice to meet you, Anthony.
29:33Justin.
29:34Oh, Anthony.
29:35Would you like to come in?
29:36Yes, please.
29:38Very lovely.
29:40OK, this is your room.
29:41This is a Jalot suite.
29:43Oh, lovely.
29:45So we have a king-sized bed.
29:46Amazing.
29:48And then we have the ensuite through here.
29:50Oh, my gosh.
29:51It's amazing.
29:52It's a nice, large en suite for you.
29:55It's bigger than our first flat.
29:58We'll let you settle in.
29:59All right, thank you.
30:00Thanks.
30:03Wow, so nice.
30:04Yeah.
30:05Isn't it?
30:06Finishing everything, isn't it?
30:07Yeah, brilliant.
30:08The really nice artwork.
30:09Beautiful furniture.
30:10Yeah.
30:11Comfy bed.
30:12Yeah.
30:13Be good to see the rest of the house, though, innit?
30:15Yeah, be fab to see the rest of it.
30:17It's so good.
30:18It's like interior styling.
30:19Yeah.
30:20Really nice.
30:21Yeah, really nice taste.
30:22Sympathetic to the house.
30:23Yeah.
30:31Meanwhile, Michelle and Steve are also out and about getting inspiration for their dream B&B.
30:37They've arrived at the Trimolet blueberry farm.
30:40Bonjour.
30:41Bonjour.
30:42Bonjour.
30:43We're all excited.
30:44Where their guide, Orianne, and her family harvest the fruit from over 30,000 trees.
30:50This time in the morning, normally, I'd be out in my van because I'm a builder.
30:57But I prefer to be walking in the field looking at blueberries.
31:00Yes, very nice.
31:01And I love the old lifestyle of it all.
31:04Michelle and Steve are going to pick their own.
31:08Would you like to take?
31:09Oh, yes, please.
31:10Yeah.
31:12Oh.
31:13Oh.
31:14Oh.
31:15Beautiful.
31:16So maybe you can try to pick now.
31:19Are you ready?
31:20Always ready.
31:21Born ready.
31:25Can you eat as many as you like?
31:27We ask a picker to do at least four kilos in one hour.
31:30Are you having a laugh?
31:31We have people from 16 to 16.
31:36Right.
31:37And mostly the more quicker and who are doing the better job is the old one.
31:43Oh, really?
31:44Yeah.
31:45Yeah, because we used to graft in.
31:46Yeah.
31:47That's what it is.
31:48So when I left school and I was 16, I went to sewing factory.
31:51The more you did, the more money you got.
31:53That's what you call grafting, that piecework.
31:55Do you have a laugh?
31:56Yeah, I do.
31:57I don't have a laugh.
31:58Yeah.
31:59I'm quicker than him.
32:00He's always been slow.
32:01Can I tee your mouth?
32:02No.
32:07The farm also has its own shop.
32:10Wow.
32:11Where jam is a speciality.
32:13Be very careful with you.
32:14Yep.
32:20I don't know how you missed your mouth.
32:22I knew you were going to say that.
32:23I can't believe you missed your mouth.
32:24Oh, my word.
32:25That's lovely.
32:26That's really nice.
32:27It's fresh.
32:28The taste is amazing.
32:29Yes.
32:30And the price is really good.
32:31So, you know what?
32:32This is what we want to give our guest.
32:34We will absolutely be sourcing stuff from this farm.
32:35When we win the prize home.
32:36Yeah.
32:37We will be back.
32:38Yes.
32:39Yes.
32:40Yes.
32:41This has been absolutely amazing.
32:42And hopefully you'll have us back to come and buy some produce from you.
32:43Yeah.
32:44Back at the B&B, it's now make or break time for Nicole and Brett.
32:45Brett.
32:46Are you not writing?
32:47Yeah.
32:48Are you not writing?
32:49Yeah.
32:50I'll get the chalk.
32:51Remember, it's a small touches.
32:52Two peas.
32:53One pea.
32:54Smells lovely in here.
32:55Good.
32:56Nice one.
32:57These are in for a treat.
32:58I'm sure.
32:59Are you ready for dinner?
33:00Yeah.
33:01Yes.
33:02I'm sure.
33:03Are you ready for dinner?
33:04Yeah.
33:05Yeah.
33:07We've got to see you at the B&B.
33:09We've got to see you.
33:10And we've got to see you at the B&B.
33:11All right.
33:12We've got to see you at the B&B.
33:13You've got to see you at the B&B.
33:14It's now make or break time for Nicole and Brett.
33:15Brett.
33:16Are you not writing?
33:19Bon appetit?
33:20Yeah.
33:21I'll get the chalk.
33:22Remember, it's the small touches.
33:23Two peas, one pea.
33:24I'm sure you're ready for dinner. Yes
33:29We'll take you through to the table. Thank you. I'm intrigued and excited. Oh, yes, they're in for a tray enjoy
33:46We have a menu as well
33:48In the heat week we did hear Nicole shouting at Brett for not doing a certain thing fast enough, etc
33:56So the stress was showing
34:00Do you look stressed?
34:04Saga pork curry tender pork cooked slowly in spinach and tomato based sauce. It's a bit spicy
34:12It's not there's some kick to it. I hope it's just not too hot
34:17My message would be to be yourselves. Don't try to be something else
34:23Coriander just the tiniest bet on I think they need to soften they'll approach Lopez
34:29Here we go guys dinner is served
34:32If they don't manage to do that this week, there's no room for them to move forward in competition
34:46At the prize B&B it's time for Nicole and Brett to prove they have the hosting skills to stay in the running
34:57These are some for course
35:02Be very careful. I am first-aid train though, so
35:07Looks amazing
35:08It smells amazing does smell really good and it's so nice to have such a nice little selection going on
35:13I think I might have to turn this round actually
35:15Yeah, I was gonna do the same thing
35:17Because otherwise I'll spill it all over me by eating with the hosts the judges hope to really get to know each couple
35:25So they can decide who is best suited to this life
35:29And I love your pakora so they were my starter, but I just thought they'll work well
35:37Well guess I'm gonna say cheers to everyone
35:41Cheers
35:41Thank you very much
35:42Cheers
35:43Thank you everyone
35:43Thank you all
35:44Cheers
35:44Cheers
35:45Thank you so much
35:46I hope you enjoy
35:47Oh
35:48This is absolutely delicious
35:53Thank you
35:54It's gorgeous
35:55Thank you
35:56So what's your favourite dish to cook?
35:58Mine's actually yellow doll believe it or not
36:00This one?
36:01Yeah
36:02It's one of the best dolls I've ever tasted
36:04Genuinely
36:05Brennan, you're not only saying that are you?
36:07No
36:08Really?
36:09I really love doll
36:10Oh very good
36:12I think my dad will be proud then eh?
36:14Is it your dad who taught you how to cook then?
36:16Mum and dad actually yeah
36:18Nicole's mum's Irish and her dad's Indian so there was a dad that taught her mum and then her mum taught Nicole
36:25And her mum is actually very very good at cooking
36:27And I have to ask the really underlying question is if you don't win the composition would you still want to pursue something like this?
36:36A hundred percent
36:37A hundred percent
36:38Yeah
36:39So initially I thought rural oh god it's going to be one house in the fields and no neighbours but look what you have outside
36:45Yeah
36:46I've always looked at Nicole's mum and dad and they've worked together for years and I've always thought I couldn't do that but coming here and being with Nicole and actually doing this I actually thought yeah we could do it
36:55I feel more connected to Brett having that time with him to be honest and I guess he does calm me down when I'm in a little bit of a stress mode
37:05So is everyone finished?
37:06It was delicious
37:07Thank you
37:08Yeah it was delicious
37:09Thank you
37:10Clean plate skin
37:11Yeah I could eat it again
37:12Oh
37:13I can give you a doggy bag
37:15There's some more in there so we'll clear the table and get dessert going
37:20Thank you
37:22Thank you
37:23Thank you
37:24Meanwhile an hour away at Chez Jalot
37:26Hello
37:28The dogs really make it don't they
37:31Thank you
37:32Thank you
37:33Justin and Paul are about to have dinner with their hosts and want to know how this income stream could help their own B&B
37:42Thank you
37:44So tonight we have a creamy lemon and thyme chicken with Bombay carrot ribbons
37:54Then we have a wild rice which has roasted peppers and mint basil and parsley
38:01Then we have balsamic and soy beans with tomatoes and coriander
38:08Looks lovely
38:09Lovely
38:10Okay enjoy
38:11Bon Appetit
38:12Thank you
38:13Thank you
38:14Do you think that's what sets you apart the fact that you guys are serving food
38:18Because I feel like in the UK the bed-and-breakfast arena is not really evening meal
38:24No you're right
38:25I think obviously a tablodote which is what we are
38:28It is known that the hosts will eat with the guests
38:32It's a selling point because we're a little bit more remote
38:35So it stops them having to worry about where to eat that evening
38:40Yeah
38:41Well this was so delicious thank you so much for dinner
38:44It was such a treat wasn't it Joss
38:46Thank you so much
38:47Our pleasure
38:48Good night
38:49Good night
38:50Thank you
38:51Sleep well
38:52Thank you we will
38:53While Justin and Paul are ready to turn in
38:59Nicole and Brett are still under the judges scrutiny
39:06Okay guys
39:07Oh this is galab jam
39:09Okay so these are deep fried milk dough balls
39:12Thank you
39:14Thank you
39:16Thank you very much
39:17Thank you very much
39:18Thank you very much
39:19Thank you
39:22They are so good
39:23They remind me of
39:25Well I guess that baklavari kind of element of honey soaked syrup soaked stuff
39:32It's fabulous
39:33They're like a doughnut soaked in sugar and syrup
39:36Mmm
39:37Mmm
39:38And the pistachio ice cream is fabulous
39:39Mmm hmm
39:40The first time I'd ever tasted one me and Nicole was doing a dinner party for some friends and she sent me to the Asian supermarket and she said you're going to get some galab jam and I was like you're talking gibberish what even is that
39:52I was running around the Asian supermarket I've never been in there before before going what is galab jam how do you even spell it I didn't even know what I was looking for
40:01These little sweet dough balls
40:03They work really well
40:05As the sun begins to cast long shadows on day two of finals week all three sets of hosts are putting their all into winning
40:17I keep saying that Nicola if it's as good a chance as anybody else it is a competition
40:22The problem is we don't we don't know what the others are doing and that's it I keep and I need to stop thinking about them concentrating us
40:29Concentrating us
40:30How is the bed for one?
40:34I'll be fine here you you've got the couch
40:37Let's get a blueberry
40:40Yeah
40:41And let's do a cheers
40:42Yeah
40:43Cheers
40:44Are we supposed to eat each other's isn't that like what humans do?
40:48No
40:53But now it's time to find out if Nicole and Brett have done enough
40:58It really was delicious well done
41:00I'm grabbing that wine as about you
41:04With the clean plates it was just like wow we actually are quite good
41:08I've taken the compliments on board and one day who knows if we'll get the keys
41:12We could turn this place into a lovely restaurant
41:16It was good to have them conversations with the judges and really feel like they are you know they're really interested in you as people
41:23And what you could bring to this business
41:28There's nothing more they can do today and their fate is in the hands of the judges
41:33So we have our second check-in of this finals week with Nicole and Brett
41:42It was foggless
41:44Yeah it was
41:45From start to finish perfect for me
41:48And different
41:49Very different it's something that the restaurants just across the road doesn't offer so in terms of a business plan she would be adding something to the local area
41:57Absolutely
41:58The dichotomy I've got is that spending time with Roy and Nicola last night and today was that I felt they revealed themselves instantly
42:08We ask a lot of questions sometimes you know in order to just provoke conversation
42:14Running a B&B is a huge social skill and it's probably underestimated a lot of the time but it's terribly important
42:24But I don't expect I have to work hard to draw out a host if I'm staying in a B&B
42:32I expect them to reveal themselves and to be interested in me a bit
42:38Last night was just easy
42:40We felt like we were staying with relatives in a way
42:42Absolutely
42:43Joviality, bubbliness, warmth
42:45Easier conversation, not quite such exciting food
42:49Tonight very exciting food, slightly less exciting conversation
42:53So actually almost the inverse of what you expect from each situation
42:56Yeah, yeah
42:57In a way
42:58We've given them lots of hints about opening up tonight
43:01They know that they have 24 hours with us to show this
43:06So breakfast will be very interesting
43:09They have great warmth
43:11They're sweet
43:12They're very sweet
43:14But that's not enough
43:16The judges want Nicole and Brett to open up more
43:21And tomorrow is their last opportunity
43:24We're just nearly nearly there so tomorrow we need to nail it
43:28Tomorrow I'm really looking forward to because it's just going to be hosting but in a different setting
43:33You know on our activity and then yeah I'll 100% be in my element
43:37I'm fingers crossed because honestly the keys belong in our hands
43:42Really we've only seen a tiny element of what they have to offer because it's breakfast
43:48And then really in a way the biggest thing which is them hosting an excursion with us
43:54A day out with the judges
43:57I'm really looking forward to a good night's sleep in this beautiful beautiful home
44:03Which will soon be an act of bed and breakfast
44:06Yeah
44:07Bonsoir Cherie
44:08Bonsoir
44:09Bonsoir
44:10Bonsoir
44:11Next time
44:15No it's not happening
44:17Not amusing
44:18As the hosts hit the midway point in finals week
44:21Honey I'm home
44:24Competition at the B&B is more intense than ever
44:27There's no oats in this bread are there?
44:29I actually couldn't tell you
44:30Underwhelming
44:32It's all that
44:33Don't panic just step aside
44:35And the judges crank up the pressure
44:38I felt that I was at a corporate event
44:41There's just something missing
44:42It's not over yet
45:08In the bubble
45:09The toughest Nolan moment
45:10So I barbecue
45:12I felt saker
45:15This was things that I knew
45:17But it's not over yet
45:19Who does it
45:22That's a fierce mission
45:24Is running a huge
45:26So I can't
45:27Commun seen
45:29And the civilians
45:30That's a big deal
45:31I'm a big hit
45:33Of course
45:34Where is a Shanghai
