The Faro Plague Unveiled: Dr. Elizabeth Sobeck is unexpectedly called by Ted Faro. She learns that his "peacekeeping" robots, designed to consume biomass for fuel in emergencies and self-replicate, have gone rogue due to a "glitch" that severed their chain of command. These robots now see everything as food and are replicating at an alarming rate, threatening to strip Earth bare in 15 months, leading to extinction.

Project Zero Dawn: Elizabeth proposes "Project Zero Dawn" as the only solution, which Ted Faro is initially reluctant to sign off on due to its grim nature. Elizabeth blackmails him by threatening to reveal the true cause of the glitch to the joint chiefs if he doesn't fund the project. Ted eventually agrees to sign.

Aloy's Frustration and Sylens' Introduction: Aloy is frustrated by the new information, particularly about Elizabeth Sobeck, whom she initially believes to be her mother. Sylens, speaking through Aloy's Focus, chastises her for her reaction, revealing his knowledge of the "Old Ones" and their destruction by robots. He introduces himself as "Silence."

Aloy and Sylens' Discussion: Aloy questions Sylens about her connection to Elizabeth, the Eclipse, and Hades. Sylens explains that the Faro war machines could process organic matter into fuel and manufacture more robots. He also clarifies that he is an independent explorer of forbidden places and a searcher of lost knowledge, not working for the Eclipse. He believes Hades is using the Eclipse to resurrect feral robots and wants Aloy dead due to her connection to Elizabeth. Sylens also explains how he uses Focus devices to spy on others. He suggests that Elizabeth Sobeck is unlikely to be alive but doesn't rule out the possibility due to ancient life extension techniques. Finally, Sylens directs Aloy to the "Grave Horde" (US Robot Command) in the eastern mountains to find more answers.
