00:00Michael what do you make of this and do young people need this protection from
00:06social media? I think adults need the protection from social media. I'm the
00:11doom scroller. We all I think get into that far too often during the course of
00:16a week where we're finding ourselves doom scrolling as the as the kids would
00:20say. I do think that children need to be protected you know the the issues and
00:25why this started was because of the cyber bullying because of the online
00:29grooming and because of the harmful content that's available and I think
00:32that affects all of us and when you're anywhere from the ages of well and
00:36anyone who's younger than 16 those can have an incredible impact on your psyche
00:42and your mental health and we're so much more aware of social through social
00:48media of the need to be aware of our mental health. I do think that this is
00:55the right move as a starting point. I do think that because this legislation was
01:04rushed through I do think that this will be fine-tuned over the course of time. I've
01:10seen Australian reports where they've recognized that they're the guinea pig.
01:14They are the test case and that there are many countries around the world that are
01:18watching to see the good and the bad and what they will do if in fact they
01:26introduce something similar. But for me the biggest point and the one that I'm
01:29most excited about is that tech companies are going to now be held
01:33accountable for the content and they're going to have to do a much better job of
01:38moderating the content and maybe have less of a hand in the way that an algorithm is so
01:48personalized.
