We find out more about the Goa inferno, the Luthra brothers behind the popular brand and who should be blamed at the end of it all.
Transcript
00:00Who owned the gutted Goa nightclub?
00:02This is Saurabh Luthra, owner of the popular Romeo Lane and once a Forbes India rising
00:07star who is now absconding and to be arrested for the deadly Goa Inferno at his restaurant
00:12Birch that claimed the lives of 25 people on 7th December 2025.
00:17Romeo Lane is owned by the Luthra brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra named in the FIR
00:22whose second shack on Wagathaur beach has also been sealed now.
00:25They also owned other restaurants under the name Kaha in Goa and Mama's Boy in Delhi.
00:29As per reports, Delhi-based Saurabh Luthra was elusive to find in Goa circles, kept to
00:34himself and barely visited despite expanding.
00:37Needless to say, most of the staff did not recognise him.
00:40His representatives would be present at hearings in earlier cases against him like an earlier
00:44one on his nightclub flouting noise pollution rules.
00:47Meanwhile, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Savant has gone ahead to say that the fire broke out
00:51due to internal fireworks, the kind that come on special tables and not because of a cylinder
00:56blast as was being reported.
00:58So while opposition political parties want the blame to be shifted on the state for this
01:02night of horror and alleged license violations, the state seems to be putting it on the deeply
01:07shook Luthra brothers and firing associated department bureaucrats instead.
01:11Goa is not new to license violations and bent rules, from casino sting operations to narcotics.
01:17The state has for long been in a tussle between regulation and entertainment and continues to struggle.
01:23As the nightmare continues to sizzle, one question remains, who is to be blamed here, the system
01:28or the players?
