00:00Eight drivers raced in Las Vegas, Nevada for $10,000 and points toward the individual championship.
00:07My first one, I'm already intimidated by everybody, you know.
00:11In his first ever grade 8 appearance, Murder Nova put the entire field on notice as he took out points leader, Kai Kelly.
00:18Oh, and Murder Nova knocks off Kai Kelly in the first round.
00:24Doing your racers a favor by knocking out the number one guy in points, Kai Kelly.
00:30Then he went on to win a close race against Kayla Morton.
00:35And Murder Nova gets there first. Great drag race.
00:39Going to the finals. I mean, we're going to try to get this win.
00:45Nate Saylor had some good luck on his side as Damon Merchant's engine cut out and gave him the win in round one.

00:55Then he took out Axeman in round two to meet Murder Nova in the finals.

01:15Sean won his first grade 8 event of the season and collected points towards that individual championship.
01:22To never be in a grade 8, come out the first time I was in grade 8 and win it and beat all those people that are in the grade 8, there's no feeling like it.
01:32Now, today we're in Ohio where the top 8 drivers will battle it out once again.
01:36Put your hands together for the grade 8 drivers.

01:54We are here at Dragway 42, located in West Salem, Ohio.
02:00This is our first time here. It is a very beautiful facility.
02:03This track opened its doors in 1957 and it is just an hour south of Cleveland.
02:09We're a lot closer to sea level, which is a huge change after spending a few weeks in the mountains and even in Vegas.
02:14It's also cooler than the temperatures we've been dealing with.
02:18Lower elevation and cooler temps means the engines can breathe easier and produce more horsepower.
02:23Every driver will have to make big adjustments to what they've been doing.
02:26Right now, Kai Kelly is still sitting number one in points, but last week he went out in the very first round,
02:32which means he gained no points whatsoever, which allowed other drivers to make up some ground.
02:38Here's how it works. If you win the grade 8, you get 10 points.
02:41Plus, you also get $10,000. If you runner-up, you get seven.
02:45And if you make it to the semifinals, you will get three.
02:48Those points go towards an individual championship that will be worth $100,000 at the end of the season.

05:40I've never even raced Nate, so honestly, I'm kind of excited to see where we stack up against
05:45each other because we're so close in points, so it should be a pretty even matchup as long
05:49as both cars make the trip.

10:22That's how I've been doing this, like, getting into money, winning money, and funding it through that, which nobody thought we would be able to do coming into this deal.

16:21When we go back down pit road, you hear a knocking noise.
16:24So we switch the gear.
16:25Usually when that happens, the housing's bent.
16:27So in Colorado, we had added compression to the engine and changed the stator.
16:32So we just ran the same stuff in Vegas.
16:36Coming here, the air's a lot better.
16:37So we're going back to our old setup.
16:39And for some reason, the car keeps knocking the rear gear out every race.
16:43This axle should just slide right out.
16:44So that's usually a sign something's binding up.

19:02i felt like i had working against me i got real confident i said all right we got this we got
19:06this all we got to do is kill a tree and down at red track get this win i let off the button and
19:10pinned me in the seat i said man this feels good all of a sudden i felt to wobble the tires i went
19:15the pedal and dead robin goes show was over i've not had to abandon one pass and i've had to abandon

19:28yeah it honestly was pretty i mean i would have i would have been happy with that run
19:37we came here and tested we put a tune up in the car we went straight down
19:41and nate sailor turns on the wind light nice job car made just a little bit of move there
19:52at the 330 stayed with it the only hiccup we had is on the gear change from 23 it got a little
19:58squirrely tried to take me out of the groove but i steered her back quick and uh she went
20:02right through the traps no a track temp was 94
20:06so but i'll do it all right uh first round grade eight here in ohio we got it's kayla morton
20:17we're pretty excited about it we got a good race car i know they do too they run the same setup we do
20:22so uh we're gonna bring ra game and they'll have to do the same let me go make sure the battery charger
20:27is hooked up and i need to get the fan on the transmission right we are in ohio obviously
20:34one of my favorite states for reasons like i won here the very first race i drew nate sailor we are
20:40friends but we've never got to race each other so um i'm excited to race nate to see kind of where
20:46we stack up both cars are very fast
20:48all right folks this will be the last pair of the grade a first round over in the left lane that's
21:05going to be nate sailor going up against kayla morton in the right

22:09so i was disappointed at first but they told me in my ears that he went red so final four
22:15um chipping away at those points um i know kai went out first round so man sean's got his number
22:22on friday nights and that does nothing but help us so yeah w for us man we'll take it
22:27all right we're gonna go ahead and do our great eight semi-finals drivers meeting we started with
22:47eight drivers we are now down to four so for my four drivers here you're at least guaranteed three
22:54points in the individual championship for the great eight uh if you haven't noticed points
22:59leader kai kelly is not in the race anymore murder nova ended up taking him out in the first round
23:06again my gosh are you kai kelly's kryptonite that is the question i don't think i'm anybody's
23:12kryptonite i don't know uh we took a shot at it and it paid off well yeah it sure did you put kai kelly
23:18on the trailer again so that means with kai kelly the points leader not being in this race right now
23:23this is a chance for everybody else to make up some ground all right so take advantage of that
23:27let's go ahead and draw chips and see who is racing who here in this semi-final round

24:36when i looked across the crowd i thought that's the one guy i don't want to draw i want to meet him in
24:39the finals he struggled a little bit at first now he's really come up he's doing incredibly well
24:44it's going to be a hell of a run i have a lot of respect for him i love sean but we're going to try
24:49and do our best to beat him like we're going to go on to the next round it's our turn to take one and
24:53come up in points i mean just to be real we get past sean this might be our night what line did we get
