Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent sold his soybean farm to comply with ethics rules after missing earlier divestiture deadlines. He previously held up to $25M in farmland and has pledged to finish divesting remaining assets by year-end.

00:03U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant said he recently divested his soybean farm to
00:07comply with the ethics agreement he signed when joining Trump's administration, according to CNBC.
00:12The divestiture followed an August 11th notice to the Senate Finance Committee that Besant had
00:17not met key terms of his ethics agreement designed to prevent conflicts of interest.
00:23Besant previously owned as much as $25 million in North Dakota soybean and corn farmland
00:27that generated up to $1 million in annual rental income.
00:31He pledged to divest his key Square Group hedge fund and other assets by April the 28th, 2025.
00:38The Treasury Department said in August that he had completed all but 4% of required divestitures
00:43and planned to finish by year end.
