00:00The stars are coming to Angus' Yorkshire auction house.
00:04We've actually got two celebs for the price of one, haven't we?
00:06Oh, dear.
00:07Because he's helping more of our best-loved celebrities...
00:10Hello!
00:11Hey!
00:12Tuck your shirt in.
00:14Yeah, well, I've been working.
00:15...turn their belongings into cold, hard cash.
00:18Come on!
00:19This is my grandma's old wireless.
00:22He visits their magnificent homes...
00:24But it's not often you come to somebody that has a windmill.
00:27...seeking out collectibles...
00:29Mmm, this looks nice.
00:30What do you think of this?
00:32Keepsakes from their careers...
00:34No, please don't drop them.
00:35Those are staying.
00:36I was just looking.
00:37...and stuff they no longer need...
00:39We have this fridge here.
00:40Yeah, OK.
00:41...to sell back at his auction house...
00:43Oh, wow!
00:45This is like an Aladdin's cave for me.
00:48Well, it looks fantastic here.
00:49...turning their possessions...
00:515,100.
00:52Crikey.
00:53...into piles of money.
00:56Boom!
00:59All right, Charlotte.
01:14Where are we going?
01:15London.
01:16Oh!
01:17Love me a trip to London.
01:19We've picked the hottest day of the year.
01:20Yeah.
01:21Which isn't clever.
01:23Ah, chin up.
01:24Besides, this job's a goodie.
01:26Actor, before your time.
01:28Yeah.
01:28Massive comedy sitcom in the 80s.
01:31OK.
01:32It's for Geoffrey Holland.
01:34After small parts in classic comedy behemoths...
01:37...like Are You Being Served?
01:39...and Dad's Army...
01:40...Gefrey Holland really made his name...
01:43...starring as gormless comedian Spike...
01:46...in the massive hit BBC series Heidi High...
01:49...that ran for eight years.
01:51When he hung up his yellow coat...
01:53...he and fellow cast members starred in BBC hits...
01:57...You Rang The Lord and Oh Dr Beachy.
02:00As well as a stellar TV career...
02:02...Jeffrey's been treading the boards...
02:04...starring in numerous plays...
02:06...and over 40 pantomimes playing the dame.
02:08I was considered to be the top five pantomime dames of the country...
02:12...at my best.
02:15They said Geoffrey Holland, comedy legend.
02:18I think of myself more of a comedy leg end, really.
02:20Oh, Geoffrey.
02:22Our star of TV past lives lives here in West London...
02:25...in this grand, top-floor, four-bedroomed apartment.
02:29Was I ever that young?
02:31Come on, be honest.
02:31Was I ever that young?
02:32You're so gorgeous.
02:35But you're still gorgeous.
02:36With his wife, Judy Buxton, also an actor.
02:40We've done a lot of things together.
02:41We've done plays together.
02:42We've toured for years together on the road.
02:44Judy starred in many TV series...
02:47...such as The Sweeney, Rising Damp and Blake's Seven...
02:50...and huge movies like Ace's High and The Big Sleep.
02:54The wonderful thing is that we think the same way.
02:57You know, we've played husband and wife on stage...
03:00...and people say, isn't that awful, doing that with your own wife?
03:02I say, no, absolutely not.
03:04Look at that.
03:05You know, it was a student prince I was playing there.
03:11So tell us about your amazing pad, Geoffrey.
03:14Well, I've been here for 27 years now, but Judy, my wife...
03:18...actually lived here way back into the 1970s.
03:21And she had a life before me as I had a life before her...
03:25...and we came together and I moved in here with her.
03:28It looks gorgeous.
03:30But why the SOS to Angus?
03:32It's too big for us to cope with now.
03:35Well, I'm getting older.
03:36She isn't.
03:37But I am.
03:38And, you know, we just want to look for something smaller, downsized.
03:42It's going to be furniture.
03:45Okay.
03:45It's a top floor flat.
03:46It's the hottest day this year.
03:48Well, you've come prepared.
03:50Yeah.
03:50I don't think I could turn up at a job in my gym kit.
03:53I, quite frankly, had no choice.
03:55It's athleisure or...
03:57Yeah.
03:58...or passing out.
03:59I have actually got some shorts in my bag.
04:01Are you going to crack them out?
04:02Ah, I might have to.
04:05Here we are.
04:07I think that'll do us just there.
04:08Let's get going.
04:12Hey, Angus!
04:14Ah, Geoffrey!
04:15We did.
04:16I'll watch you in.
04:20Eight, nine, ten.
04:21Counting the steps.
04:23Thirty steps.
04:24Oh, my God.
04:26Hey, you're right.
04:26Good to see you.
04:27Hey, this is Charlotte.
04:28Hi, hi.
04:28Come on in.
04:29Come in.
04:30Right, come along in.
04:34Welcome to the withdrawing room.
04:36This is in the humble abode.
04:38This is us.
04:39You've been here a long time in this flat?
04:41I've been here almost 50 years.
04:44My word, so you were born here?
04:45I was a...
04:45No.
04:46Nice one.
04:47You're a very sweet young man.
04:48You've still got it.
04:49You've still got it.
04:51So, long time family home, really.
04:54Very long time.
04:54It's become a little bit too much,
04:57and now we want to get something smaller.
04:5950 years of accumulation.
05:00Well, exactly.
05:01And the little set's quite nice in the corner.
05:03I'll get one.
05:04Yeah.
05:05There we are.
05:07Yeah, look at that.
05:07Yes, they are beautiful.
05:08So, yeah, what will they do here?
05:10See, you can see you've got this clear glass,
05:12and then you've got a blue layer of glass
05:14that goes over the top.
05:15They're really quite pretty, aren't they?
05:16Nice detail.
05:16And they're nice.
05:17And it's got, you know, the brandy, the Holland gin.
05:20Is it Holland gin?
05:21Oh, well, yes, because originally gin came across from Holland.
05:24The Dutch invented gin in the 17th century,
05:28and it was originally only used to treat ailments.
05:32A hundred years later, gin arrived in Britain,
05:34and by 1720, thousands of small gin shops
05:38distilled the drink in cellars, attics, and back rooms in London.
05:43Public health suffered,
05:44prompting the Gin Act to be passed in 1751.
05:48The new law meant gin was taxed
05:50and could only be sold by licensed cellars.
05:53Mother's ruin.
05:54Yes, it was a big problem.
05:56Hopefully there should be no problem
05:58selling this set of drinks bottles.
06:01So we've got a mixture all throughout the flat?
06:04Absolutely, yes.
06:05We've got some furniture, we've got some paintings.
06:08Oh, Charlotte, do you want to start packing the smalls up in here?
06:11Yeah.
06:11And then shall we have a look round at what else there is?
06:12Yes, right.
06:13Absolutely, let's go for it.
06:17It's a long walk.
06:18It is a long walk.
06:20Along with those stairs,
06:21you'll be getting your steps in today, Angus.
06:24Here we are, is the smallest room,
06:26or one of the smallest rooms in the house.
06:29The sofa's nice, isn't it?
06:30It's lovely, isn't it?
06:31This design on the front here
06:32is slightly more what we'd call empire style,
06:37and by empire style we mean French empire,
06:38so that came about under Napoleon.
06:42Popular from the 1800s to the 1830s.
06:45So there's little touches of sort of 1920s, 30s,
06:49so a little bit of a mismatch,
06:50but probably made in the 30s.
06:53Right, right.
06:54That sort of influence, isn't it?
06:55It was actually from family.
06:58I love it, but the market's not great for it.
07:02So we'll see how we get on,
07:03but it's, yeah,
07:04just not necessarily fly out like some pieces.
07:07Now I've got something I need to show you in the dining room.
07:10OK.
07:13This is it.
07:14This is my grandma's old radio set,
07:17but we called it a wireless.
07:19Yep.
07:19Back in the day.
07:20Well, my dad called it the same.
07:21But this is an echo.
07:23I think it's about 1948, 49.
07:26Eric Kirk & Cole founded the company in 1922.
07:30He began hand-making valve radios at a factory in Southend,
07:34employing more than 8,000 people by 1943.
07:38Their models always featured elaborate baker-like casings
07:42with Art Deco design.
07:44Fond memories of going round to your grandmas
07:46and this being on in the background.
07:48Listening to old radio shows on Sunday mornings,
07:50just before lunch.
07:51Sadly, they don't make very much money.
07:54No, no, I wouldn't have thought so.
07:56But, you know, real nostalgia thing.
07:57We will find a good home.
07:59Good, I hope so,
08:00because it's been good to me
08:01and it's got happy memories,
08:03but I no longer need it.
08:04I mean, you've done radio as well, haven't you?
08:06I have.
08:06I've done my fair share of comedy on radio.
08:09But we can't come here and not talk about
08:10what most people know you for,
08:13Heidi High.
08:13Heidi High.
08:14Yeah.
08:15Funny you should say that,
08:16because I've just happened to have,
08:18here we are,
08:19a couple of annuals.
08:20That's arguably what put you on the map.
08:22Well, it did put me on the map
08:23and here I am,
08:2445, 46 odd years later,
08:26talking about it.
08:27Er, what's that all about?
08:29This is a little award.
08:31It just says BBC 100,
08:33Geoffrey Holland.
08:34Yeah.
08:34Now, one of these was presented to me
08:37and to Paul Shane
08:38and to Sue Pollard
08:40and to Felix Bowness
08:42when we did 100 episodes of sitcom together.
08:46I've done 147 episodes
08:47and I haven't had an award yet.
08:49Moving on,
08:52Geoffrey's holding onto the plaque,
08:54but he's giving up his two signed
08:56Heidi High annuals
08:57and his comedy memoirs.
08:59Wonderful.
08:59Well, leave me to it
09:00and we'll make a start
09:02and start getting loaded up.
09:02All right.
09:03I'll leave you in peace.
09:04Cheers.
09:07They are wonderful.
09:09Proper, and I hope they don't mind me saying this,
09:11old school stars.
09:13I mean, they live and breathe the theatre.
09:15Some nice bits I've spotted already.
09:17Got small furniture.
09:19There's some heavy bits.
09:21Charlotte's come really well prepared.
09:22She's in a gym kit.
09:24It's physically going to be a very demanding day,
09:26but do you know what?
09:27They're lovely,
09:28so it's worth it.
09:30Better get going then.
09:32Dining rooms are always a good place for a rummage.
09:35This is rather nice.
09:37This is right up my street.
09:39A bit of military.
09:39Well, antique arms.
09:42Sadly, though, badly, badly damaged.
09:44Look at that.
09:46Handles, the grip's completely gone.
09:48But what this is, is a pocket pistol, a flintlock.
09:52So in the oldie days, you'd put it down the barrel,
09:55the gunpowder, and then a ball,
09:57and then you would strike the powder in a pan to fire it.
10:02This dates back to the 18th century, the late 1700s.
10:05So wonderful thing.
10:05It's probably sort of 50 to 100 as a damaged tap-action
10:10flintlock pocket pistol.
10:12Nice thing there.
10:13Damaged or not,
10:14this is just the shot in the arm Geoffrey could do with.
10:18Any money we make from the sale of these things
10:21will be put towards wherever we end up going to
10:24if we do downsize.
10:25That's the plan.
10:26So it needs to be decorated,
10:27there'll need to be curtains,
10:28there'll need to be carpets.
10:30Carpet diem, guys.
10:32That's a long list.
10:34It's just new little teaspoons,
10:35little condiment spoons,
10:36mustards and things like that.
10:37There's little Scottish ones, so...
10:39Angus, I've just found some little bits of jewellery
10:42that might be of interest.
10:45We've got some rings,
10:46and one particular one,
10:48which I actually dug up.
10:50And this is going back about,
10:52ooh, probably about 30-odd years,
10:55and I was digging the back garden
10:56and came across this tiny little ring.
11:00What a find in the garden.
11:01What's really nice is what we call an intaglio,
11:04which is carved in rather than sort of raised.
11:08An intaglio is a ring with the design
11:11sculpted into the surface of a semi-precious gemstone.
11:15The technique goes back thousands of years,
11:17but it was the Romans who developed tools
11:19to carve emperors and leaders into the designs,
11:23which they then used to seal documents or letters
11:25by dipping the ring into wax.
11:28It's probably early to mid-19th century.
11:31Really nice piece.
11:32This ring has a bloodstone gem
11:34and the engraving is of some jester's legs.
11:37But the price is not to be laughed at.
11:40Judy is also selling
11:41an 18-carat gold herringbone necklace.
11:45I'm just going to get its legs.
11:47Happy?
11:48Yeah.
11:48OK, we should be able to walk it round.
11:52Right.
11:52You've got some guns, I tell you.
11:55It's the hottest day of the year so far.
11:57I'm melting.
11:59You know what you need to do, Angus?
12:02What are your trousers doing on the floor?
12:04I'm hot, OK.
12:06Now he's dressed for the job,
12:08the real work can begin.
12:10Over the next two hours,
12:11Angus breaks out into a sweat,
12:13hauling seven more pieces of furniture
12:15and other bits and bobs.
12:17I think we're about there.
12:18Until the day is done.
12:20Right, Charlotte.
12:21We're done.
12:22We're done.
12:26Come on through.
12:28Right.
12:29You've pretty much got a room back.
12:32Blimey.
12:32Oh, my goodness me.
12:34Look at this.
12:35That's fantastic.
12:36That's extraordinary.
12:38How are you feeling about auction day?
12:40Oh, I'm looking forward to it.
12:42Very much.
12:42Yeah, I can't wait, actually.
12:43I should be excited.
12:44Brilliant.
12:45Well, I'll hit the road.
12:46Well, you've done a great job.
12:47See you, sale day.
12:48See you, brilliant.
12:49See you, sale day.
12:50Bye.
12:50Bye.
12:50Bye.
12:51Some interesting bits, actually.
12:53We've got some jewellery, which is really good.
12:55There's going to be some value there.
12:56That lovely Intagio ring.
12:58The sofa.
12:59I can't forget the heavy sofa.
13:00But, no, really good mixture of items.
13:02But I think, you know, it should tot up.
13:05Oh, hello, campers.
13:06It sounds like Angus is aiming.
13:09Hidey-hi on this one.
13:10Geoffrey and Judy's things have arrived back at Kirby Moorside to be researched, photographed and catalogued, ready for auction.
13:32Geoffrey had lots of lovely items, including these lovely Georgian candlesticks.
13:37Now, Georgian, when we say Georgian, that actually covers a wide breadth of history.
13:43Over 100 years, 17, 14 to 18, 30.
13:47And it really covers four monarchs.
13:49George I, second, third and fourth.
13:51And these are of that period.
13:54These are a lovely pair in brass.
13:56And these are what we call a seamed candlestick.
13:58You can see the line that runs all the way down there and the line that runs down there.
14:02So they've been made in two halves and put together that central column with a base and a top on it.
14:07But that came with candles made out of either tallow, which is beef dripping, or, if you had a lot of money, beeswax.
14:16So quite often you'd have a sconce to catch the drips so it didn't go all over your furniture and things like that.
14:21So there is a design element in it.
14:23It isn't all just about looking nice.
14:25There is purpose to it.
14:27There was no electricity.
14:28There was nothing else.
14:28This was the light in an evening.
14:29I mean, these ones, I think, you know, it's a nice Georgian pair, 70 to 100.
14:34Just a good decorative thing.
14:35And it's always handy to have some candles in the house in case of power cuts.
14:44Hi.
14:46Good morning, Anglic.
14:47Good morning.
14:47How are we doing?
14:48Are you all right?
14:48Good to see you.
14:49Yeah, good to see you.
14:50Good to see you.
14:51Good to see you.
14:52Welcome to the salary.
14:54How are we feeling about the auction?
14:55Well, I'm very interested to see who snaps up my grandma's old wireless set.
15:00Yes.
15:00And I'm rather interested to see how the jewellery goes.
15:03Yes.
15:04There's a few gold bits there that have been sort of in a drawer for a long time.
15:08There's a nice ring, isn't there?
15:09I really like that.
15:09Oh, the one I found in the garden.
15:11Yes.
15:12Yep.
15:12Yeah, I like that.
15:13Signific ring.
15:14Why don't we come on in and have a look round?
15:15Let's do it.
15:16Why not?
15:16Let's do it.
15:19I'll catch up with you in a bit.
15:22Oh, look at all this.
15:24What's round here?
15:25Ah.
15:26It's a grandma's wireless.
15:27Oh, gosh, yes.
15:28It is.
15:29Oh.
15:30An old friend.
15:31It looks great, doesn't it?
15:33Very sentimental thing to get rid of.
15:35You know, it's sad to let it go, but it's best pass it on to somebody who wants to love it.
15:39Probably the item that's worth most to Jeffrey in terms of personal things is his grandmother's wireless.
15:45They don't make a huge amount of money, so I hope we can find a good home for that.
15:49But I think they should be in for a good day, you know.
15:51They've got some good bits.
15:52We've had lots of pre-sale interest, so, yeah, I think we'll do all right.
15:56Hey, look at this.
15:58That'll go for a fortune.
15:59Oh, it's worth it.
16:01Jeffrey's memoir is one of 31 lots up for sale.
16:04I've been so excited about this, actually.
16:07I've been thinking about it for weeks.
16:10Yeah, there's a couple of my Heidi High annuals over there, which is a wonderful time of my life.
16:15You know, hopefully somebody will snap those up.
16:17We'd be like two kids coming up on the train, weren't we?
16:21Yeah, we were, we were.
16:22We've actually been very excited, both of us.
16:26Well, I, for one, am excited too.
16:28So let's get this performance started.
16:31Our co-stars are ready to monitor all those internet bids,
16:34and our leading man has just entered stage left.
16:38So without further ado...
16:40Right, all, we've got this wonderful collection.
16:43It's come all the way from that there, London.
16:44We're very delighted to welcome Jeffrey and Judy to, well, it's not the stage which makes a change for you, isn't it?
16:51There we go.
16:52Both of you, lots of theatre.
16:54How many pantos have you done?
16:5545.
16:5645 years of pantos.
16:59That's incredible.
17:01I should know better at my age, but there you go.
17:04First up, the 19th century flintlock pistol.
17:08The tap-action pistol there, there we go, nice pocket pistol there.

21:17he's made that was amazing thank you my friend was that right your expertise
21:24furniture's always a little bit yeah i wondered about that actually though all items aside probably
21:31the item that meant the most to you is probably your grandma's radio grandma's wireless yes yes so
21:37yes he went for more than she paid for it i know that's good good well i'm glad it got some bids and
21:41it yeah you know it's nice it's gone to somebody who's gonna somebody who wants it yeah yeah yeah it's
21:46lovely to tell you how much money are you taking home well that'd be nice that would be nice yeah yeah

21:58yes thank you no you're welcome thank you thank you well we have some nice things to sell
22:07absolutely fabulous oh that's wonderful it's been an absolute pleasure
22:12i'm completely gobsmacked three thousand pounds will go very well to refurbishing carpets and
22:24curtains yes it'll certainly find it it'll be very useful i think jeffrey and judy have really enjoyed
22:32it a couple of bits didn't make the mark the sofa another day it'll do it but cross the board some
22:37really good results that intaglio ring made a great price really pleased that it was a good thing
22:42and actually for jeffrey his grandmother's wireless that sold and it sold well for what it was so
22:47it's been an absolute pleasure and i think they've been really surprised with actually how well they did
22:51all right jack we're heading up that well trodden route up to glasgow i love it i love that route
23:08oh it's fair we go up to glasgow a lot it's and i do love that run up there across the 66 m74
23:15sounds idyllic but who are you going to see
23:19we're going to go see one of uh glasgow's finest kay adams oh she's quite a big journalist isn't she
23:35spot on jack this legend of tv and radio started out as a news journalist in the 80s
23:42her coup interviewing margaret thatcher in 1986 it was her insightful and trusting persona that
23:49made a step into the talk show arena inevitable and after hosting scottish women for six years
23:55she became a regular face on national tv on shows like itv weekend live the right stuff and that
24:02juggernaut loose women professionalism always caught to her being loose women is a very very special show
24:09i mean number one it is live and so all of your bloopers and all of your mistakes and all of your
24:15not very funny lines um have to go out live as well when she's not saving her blushes on screen
24:22kay lives in this gorgeous villa in glasgow with her partner kids and pooch b this house is built late
24:3019th century and it's gone through various sort of iterations it was actually it was a home for unmarried
24:37mothers at one point and so we have had people over the years come along and say you know my mum was in
24:42there you know they had various connections to to the house it is a family home first and foremost
24:49and it has been for 18 years but alas all is about to change it's time for us to downsize we've had such
24:58a lovely time living here but uh time for a new adventure i have started the process so i'm hoping
25:05that angus is going to give me motivation and i'm going to get some momentum and the next time
25:10you see me i'll be in a caravan on a beach somewhere i don't know you could have some good
25:17bits actually you'd say there's furniture though jack no we're used to it yeah i know it's our free
25:23exercise i remember i'm getting older jack you know here we are perfect
25:34hello hi okay how are you doing jack hi come in come in come in just go straight through there
25:44oh wow what a wonderful place yeah we've been here for 18 years yeah yeah so it's a long time but
25:50you know it is time to downsize a house like this has a lot in it yeah and we're definitely
25:56not going to be taking that amount of stuff bit of a thin out today see what we can do get a few
26:01maybe bigger bits away time to graft the nettle jack do you want to get the van ready because i think
26:05we're getting revved up yeah cheers jack okay there are three bedrooms and two reception rooms to look
26:12around today so while jack preps the van angus can start the tour just right behind you this was
26:20my dad's chair and we're mom and dad's house and they're sadly no longer with us but i can still
26:25see my dad sitting in it you know with his glass of whiskey he loved a high back chair classic sort
26:31of victorian sort of armchair but it's good shape it's good for a snooze after you've had a couple of
26:35whiskies exactly originally the wingbacks i mean that's what they were designed for was really to
26:39shelter you from you know you go back hundreds of hundred years and the draft would come in and it
26:44would shelter you and channel the heat into the chair so right it was a bit of a you know sort of
26:50a hugging chair if you like and that would face the fire but i'll find a loving home for it and
26:55somebody to drink whiskey out of it that's all i want you've sat in some chairs and done some
26:59important stuff haven't you well i interviewed margaret thatcher at downing street so we did the
27:04interview in what was called the ormaloo room so they had two chairs not unlike this funnily enough
27:09placed uh you know a sort of reasonable distance apart she was like where she was going to put a
27:15handbag and she went around the back of one of the couches and she stuffed it down the power in the
27:19back of one of the so it would be safe and i'm thinking the place is crawling with secret service
27:25people oh why are you doing this well there's no lack of chairs to hide your handbag behind here angus
27:33i've actually got two of these oh so you've got a pair yep i got a pair oh that's nice um when i was
27:38wandering along in edinburgh one day yeah and it was a kind of is it mid-century modern we call it
27:45yeah yeah yeah we do yeah so it's quite cool cool little shop and and they had these two in the window
27:52and you know just sometimes you think i like you this is more what the market's after this sort of
27:57mid-century probably danish design i have seen similar ones that are called a corset chair that being
28:04like a you know like a corset actually i think they're really solid and it's a nice leather it is
28:09and it's in they're in good condition yeah really good yeah i think we can sell them as a pair put
28:14them in at 250 350. okay cool well we'll get those on the van there they're my favorite bits so far
28:20i like those right of place yeah yeah i like those well leave me to it and i'll see what we can do
28:25fantastic that's right lads get cracking you know it's not huge amounts of items but there's some
28:36really good big bits so you know me and jack have got a a bit of work to do we've got furniture to lift
28:41stairs to negotiate so we'll crack on and sure we can get back across the border before nightfall
28:47don't want to turn into a pumpkin well no so let's roll our sleeves up cinderella and get loading
29:00nice tune there's something to work to
29:05not bad k and all on a baby grand too
29:10i think the first thing that i did uh purchase when i was earning a more steady wage was the baby
29:17grand piano which was such a strange thing to do given that i was 24 and i didn't play the piano
29:23i did go for lessons for a while actually but unfortunately the teacher was an ex-jazz
29:27musician who was rather fond of the gin so we just ended up getting a bit tipsy in the afternoon and
29:33i never learned to play anything i bet the boys would appreciate a gin right now should be a fastener on
29:40it here look there we go perfect you know what it's called tilt top but what type of table is it
29:49uh oh i do love a quiz i do know but i can't think give us a clue then angus you'd eat a certain meal
29:59that's it breakfast table 19th century mahogany but it's paled up because it's been in the light
30:04so it sort of bleached it but a lot of the tables from that period with tilt up like this great
30:09mechanism because you could set it for the day eat your breakfast around it have your coffee
30:15tilt up push to one side so it's a space saver really
30:22over the next two hours angus and jack earned their breakfast hiking up and downstairs collecting chairs
30:29lamps coffee it powers me through paintings and even a chandelier
30:45right i'm going to take you way down here now this is actually the top of a dresser which you will
30:51identify no doubt have you got the base no i don't think we ever had that okay in big country houses
30:57this is kind of the furniture that would be downstairs absolutely jams chutneys housekeeper's
31:03cupboard in the sort of servant's quarters if you like i like it i mean that's that's for
31:08he's got character we used to keep the rabbit food in here we made a rabbit so apologies okay
31:14needs a wee bit of a dust i mean two to four hundred something like that it's a good seller right fine
31:20we will endeavor to get that off the wall good luck yeah screwdriver i've got a screwdriver
31:25have you great brilliant i've got it a christmas cracker do you think it'll work uh jack
31:36an arm i'm going as fast as i can there we go
31:41stop it change my mind oh i never knew k was also a comedian call the police someone's taken the
31:57cupboard
32:00well done jack it'd be that wasn't it after three hours of hard graft it's a wrap at k's
32:06oh okay i'm just putting away the sourdough i'll get another three weeks out of that i thought you
32:13were doing your cookery program oh you would not want a cookery program with me i tell you
32:17or be how not to cook is what it would be called well we're we're all loaded up so really yeah yeah
32:23done yeah wow funds going towards anything or just general to be honest i wasn't really thinking in terms
32:29of funds i'm not that hopeful of what we're going to get in well hopefully it's uh getting a few bits
32:35for now getting you ready for that potential downsize yeah are you one of these people who
32:40you know likes to promise low and deliver big or yeah yeah okay yeah yeah you know keep it real and
32:46if we get a nice surprise it's a nice surprise okay well we'll hit the road and uh we'll see you
32:52down in yorkshire very soon i look forward to safe travel excellent thank you very much all right bye
32:56well it's been a full-on day we've got some interesting bits probably the star of the
33:03collection is those danish design chairs we'll get back to the sale room get them lotted up and see
33:08if we can get some good results for k that's the spirit angus after you let this loose woman
33:14loose on your auction house it'd be good if she leaves happy
33:26all right nick just been to glasgow to see k adam oh just just up the road then all right let's see
33:40what we've got then two of these that looks nice that looks well comfy to try it out
34:01that's nice it looks nice no time for lounging around the team of just seven days to research
34:08and photograph every lot before the auction catalogue is published and goes online ahead of
34:13the auction a few weeks later all right that's great cheers for that no worries hi charlotte hi
34:20charlotte what have you got here well i have got a bit of ladro here i thought i recognized it it's
34:27very distinctive isn't it yeah with larger it's very interesting what does well and what doesn't
34:31they do a huge range of figures obviously here we have our ballerina couple founded in the early
34:381950s by three brothers ladro is a spanish company that makes art porcelain figurines
34:45they introduced a revolutionary idea in ceramics only firing their pots once instead of three times
34:52which created softer pale colors 70 years on and they're still in business employing 2 000 staff
35:00at their only factory in valencia this was designed by fulgencio garcia issued in 1969 called the
35:10lampera a la queen e comorbina okay so the harlequin and the i'm assuming the ballerina you got it
35:20amazing my spanish can't be that bad obviously his his fingers are missing here so that's not great
35:28the fulgencia garcia piece will go into a lot with two other ladro items a girl and doll table lamp
35:35and a boy with a book lamp for an estimate of 50 to 70. we know ladro does well here always buyers
35:44always collectors we'll have to see oh my goodness oh dad's chair oh there we go oh angus hi you're
36:05very at home are you you have polished my table it's looking glowing it really is you're in your
36:11dad's chair yeah i know i know it's nice to see it it's actually quite funny to sit in it i'm usually
36:16looking at it um but yeah no it's it's nice to see it it really is are you excited do you know what
36:22it's not about the money but then you're suddenly in this situation and you think oh my goodness it's
36:27gonna be so embarrassing if it's like 50 quid for the law you know that won't happen i promise you
36:32i promise you that won't happen well i'll i'll let you have a look around i'll see you up on the
36:35rostrum cool okay thanks we've got an interesting mix of items not loads but some nice bits some are
36:44a little bit traditional and they might struggle but we've got a lovely pair of modern uh sort of
36:51mid-century chairs we've got high hopes for them we've got a lot of pre-sale interest in them so i
36:55think they could be the lot that make the day god bless her mum loved these lads so big and i
37:02always told her yeah that is not my style she always used to buy them if we went on holiday to
37:07majorca but there you go different strokes for different folks i did want to get rid of stuff
37:12when you actually you know cast stuff off it is a kind of odd feeling i have to say and then i get
37:18really competitive and there's actually people walking around at the moment and i've got to stop
37:22myself from dragging them over to my table and trying to flog them at ah don't worry you can leave
37:28the selling to the experts the clerks are ready it's a live studio audience today and they're
37:34looking wrapped but where is our main presenter three two one auction right there morning ladies
