00:14claimed that Poland Prime Minister Donald Tusk

00:17agreed to pay for German crimes during talks with Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin.

00:22Without proper context, these claims are misleading and distort what was said.

00:27During the press conference in early December,

00:29Tusk actually urged Germany to provide support to Polish victims of World War II atrocities who are still alive.

00:36He added that if Germany failed to act quickly,

00:39he would consider using Poland's own resources to compensate the victims.

00:42The exchange was part of the long-running reparations debate between Poland and Germany.

00:48Poland's previous nationalist government demanded 1.3 trillion euros in reparations

00:53for Germany's occupation between 1939 and 1945,

00:58which devastated the country.
