The Louvre has suffered a significant water leak that damaged between 300 and 400 Egyptology-related volumes, compounding existing security concerns after last month’s multimillion-euro jewel heist. The leak, traced to an incorrectly opened hydraulic valve, affected journals and scientific documentation from the late 19th and 20th centuries, though no heritage artefacts were harmed. Restoration teams will dry and repair all damaged works. This marks the museum’s third major crisis in three months, following structural issues and an unprecedented €88-million jewelry theft.
