00:00Cabinet chaos, the twists and turns of the president's cabinet meeting with wild claims
00:10about the sagging economy. The word affordability is a con job by the Democrats. A blistering
00:17attack on immigrants. The country stinks and we don't want them in our country. I can say
00:22that about other countries too. And hitting back against health concerns. I think I'm
00:28sharper than I was 25 years ago, but who the hell does? But are the mounting issues in his
00:32administration taking a toll on him? Then Dennis Leary talks about flipping the script on holiday
00:39comedies in the new movie Oh What Fun. Plus a special edition of View Your Deal is your one-stop
00:47holiday gift shop. Here come hot topics with Whoopi, Sarah Haynes, Joy Behar, Annie Navarro,
00:58Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farrah Griffin. Now let's get things started.
01:05Ciao.
01:06Hello, hello, hello and welcome to the View, yours. Welcome to the View. Welcome to the and
01:07welcome to the View. Welcome to the View. Welcome to the
01:09view. Back with chi, how sweet? Hey, how sweet this place is.
01:13But the most sweet. I feel bright that I enjoy doing it. Oh, my gosh I speak what I love with.
01:19No, my gosh I see what I feeling. I say be beautiful. I love the way. I love the view.
01:24I'll see this version of me.
01:27Show me how I'm going.
01:28Hello.
01:29Hey, hello, hello, hello, and welcome to The View, y'all.
01:33Welcome to The View, welcome to The View, welcome to The View.
01:38So have a seat.
01:39Let's tell you what's going on today.
01:41Alyssa is out sick.
01:43We are waiting her return, but she's not been feeling well.
01:47So get better soon.
01:49The White House is dealing with a whole bunch of stuff right now.
01:53A lot of problems.
01:55They got a lot of problems.
01:58Good.
01:58What do they have?
02:00A lot of problems.
02:02That's right.
02:03Because you know who tried to clear things up in a cabinet meeting that covered a lot of issues.
02:10He also flashed out at some of his usual targets.
02:13Let's take a look.
02:15Somalians ripped off that state for billions of dollars, and they contribute nothing.
02:22The welfare is like 88%.
02:25We're going to go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country.
02:29Ilhan Omar is garbage.
02:31When they come from hell, and they complain, and do nothing but bitch, we don't want them in our country.
02:40He's...
02:42He's just...
02:44It's funny about bitching.
02:46God.
02:47People should always look in the mirror when they're talking about it.
02:50Yeah, I know.
02:51Yeah.
02:52Will trying to demonize immigrants still work for him or his base?
02:58Are they more concerned about other issues right now?
03:01Is this going to continue, or is this smoke and mirrors too?
03:06It seems like every time his numbers drop or he perceives that his popularity is dropping,
03:11no matter how much tush kissing the cabinet does on him, it's really disgusting to watch them kiss his butt.
03:19But anyway, every time that happens, he pulls out a race card.
03:23Last time it was the Haitians who were eating the pets, and now it's the Somalis in Minnesota,
03:29who, by the way, there's only 84,000 Somalis in Minnesota, and 58% of them were born in the United States.
03:35And 87% of them are naturalized citizens.
03:38Yeah.
03:38But one of my spies told me that he lost support with the Somali-Minnesota voters
03:43over the Biden administration's handling of Gaza.
03:46So again, it's personal.
03:47Everything's personal with him.
03:49Well, and the problem is with how he handles it is he had a valid criticism.
03:52This is rated as the number one fraud scheme during the pandemic.
03:56These were programs that were supposed to feed kids.
03:58So there have been 59 people convicted.
04:02It was over $1 billion.
04:03That's a big deal.
04:04And it's not about the Somalis.
04:06It's about those people that were convicted making bad decisions.
04:09You don't paint it with that kind of gloss.
04:12But he's missing a win here.
04:13They did uncover it.
04:14They are fixing it.
04:15This was a problem.
04:16But because of how he talks about it, now it becomes it's all the Somalis.
04:21It's everyone from a...
04:22...country.
04:23All those things.
04:24Like, he's painting it all crap when you could just look at facts and data.
04:27Sorry, Brian.
04:29Well, I just got a note.
04:30I got another note.
04:30I think I was quoting him.
04:32I got another note from one of my spies who says that Democrats lost support among Somalis last year.
04:37Well, this is going to get their support back, I would think, right?
04:40Well, those that can vote.
04:43But look, he does this over and over again, right?
04:47And he likes to do it particularly with immigrant groups that come from poor countries that are majority black or brown, right?
04:55That's correct.
04:56I've never heard him try to paint the Italians...
04:59Or Norwegians.
05:00...by the small portion of the mafia.
05:02I've never heard him talk about the mafia, the Russian mafia that's in North Miami Beach.
05:09He's scared of them.
05:09Well, you might have a point there.
05:12But, you know, this is, again, a president who is a bully, a president who likes dog whistles, a president who likes to divide and have a target.
05:24And this time, it's the Somalis.
05:26Before, it was the Haitians.
05:28Before that, it was the bad hombres, the Mexicans.
05:31But the Venezuelans, you know, he wants to paint them all as gang members and members of Tren de Aragua.
05:37I don't know why you keep saying that, because he says he's not a racist.
05:40Well, and that's the thing.
05:43What does it say about people who follow him now?
05:45I have yet to meet a racist that raises their hand and says, yes, I am a racist.
05:49But I think we need to be able to call...
05:51Oh, no, they do now.
05:52Some do.
05:53Yeah, they are very happy to tell you now.
05:55But I think we need to call a thing a thing.
05:57The president of the United States is using racist language.
06:00He is.
06:01He's using discriminatory language.
06:03He is targeting an entire group in a discriminatory way.
06:07Again.
06:08Again.
06:09And again.
06:09And again.
06:10And when do we as Americans say being a racist or using hateful racist language is unbecoming
06:17of the office of the president of the United States?
06:20We need to be able to say that.
06:22And we need to be able to say it out loud.
06:24But to your point, Whoopi, about is this a distraction?
06:27Will his base care about...
06:29Will they care or do they care about other things?
06:32I mean, if you look at it right now, he also said during this cabinet meeting...
06:37Well, I'm about to just bring that up.
06:38Yeah.
06:39Because he says affordability is a con job.
06:41Is it, though?
06:41Well, let's find out.
06:43Because a cabinet meeting hit a lot of different areas, from addressing concerns about his health
06:48to blaming Democrats for economic worries.
06:51And a whole pass a lot of other stuff.
06:53But just watch the clip.
06:55There's this fake narrative that the Democrats talk about affordability.
07:00They just say the word.
07:01It doesn't mean anything to anybody.
07:03The word affordability is a con job by the Democrats.
07:06Right now, I think I'm sharper than I was 25 years ago.
07:09But who the hell knows?
07:10I took...
07:11By the way, I took my physical.
07:14I got all A's, everything.
07:16We also rescinded the supplemental statement that discouraged the fiduciaries from considering
07:21the alternative.
07:22Making sure our students can read.
07:24Are we introducing the science of reading in schools?
07:28If you were, lived in New Jersey, and you moved to Oregon, and you got injured, you went
07:33to a hospital, you would have to spend maybe 45 minutes filling out forms on a clipboard.
07:41It's like an SNL sketch.
07:42And there was a clip that didn't make it on there where Marco Rubio is like actively kissing
07:51his ass, and he is asleep.
07:54Which is really funny because I remember when he used to call Joe Biden Sleepy Joe, and now
08:00it's Sleepy Donald.
08:01Well, Anna, to be fair, Marco Rubio could put anybody to sleep.
08:05Hold on, I mean, and I have that to admit, that being in a room where your ass is kissed
08:10for hours upon hours has got to be incredibly exhausting.
08:13It's exhausting.
08:14Let's take a look at it from this perspective.
08:17Even if everything that he is saying is correct, it doesn't change the fact that he is out of
08:29control, he is grasping at straws, and Epstein-Gate is not going away.
08:39No.
08:39Now, the Hexet gate is not going away.
08:43No.
08:43Prices haven't come down.
08:45I told you what we pay for eyedrops.
08:47Yeah.
08:47That hasn't changed.
08:48So what are you doing?
08:51I mean, why are you still there?
08:52He's building that wing.
08:54Yeah.
08:54But you know what?
08:55You notice you haven't heard anything about that.
08:57What's going on with that?
08:58Well, it's a mess.
08:59Is anything being built?
09:00No, I was reading that the architecture thing, he's having trouble with the architect,
09:04so it's just going to be a bunch of rubbers.
09:05Yeah, because he wants it bigger.
09:06But you know what, regarding price, he needs to wake up and smell the coffee prices, because
09:10Costco is now suing Trump because of the tariff.
09:15This is what it's going to take.
09:17This is what it's going to take.
09:20For families with young children, orange juice is up 29%.
09:2529%.
09:26Beef is up something like 14%.
09:30People aren't able to buy groceries.
09:33They can't buy homes.
09:34The only thing that's going to happen is the farmers, the people who grow stuff, the people
09:39who are being hit by these tariffs, they've got to start saying, we're not doing this anymore.
09:44That's the only way this is going to change.
09:46Affordability is not a con job.
09:47It's real.
09:48Even if it is a con job, we all believe it.
09:52We all believe affordability is what we are entitled to.
09:55We pay taxes.
09:56He ran on affordability.
09:57Donald Trump won on affordability.
09:59So does that mean he was conning us?
10:02Well, we all know.
10:04If you're a billionaire right now, if you are a billionaire or surrounded by billionaires,
10:09you're doing very well because the stock market is doing well.
10:12But if you are the people who cannot afford food, who cannot afford health care, the premiums
10:17are up 300% and there's no subsidies planned yet, then affordability is very real for you
10:22and there's nothing, nothing con about it.
10:25Affordability has all to do with what you can afford.
10:28Yeah.
10:29Whether you make X amount of money or you make this, if you can't afford your life, you're
10:34having a problem with affordability and it's not a lie.
10:37A guy who filed corporate bankruptcy so many times, you'd think he'd be familiar with affordability.
10:41Well, you know how.
10:43We're watching it.
10:44You know what to do.
10:52So, if it wasn't crazy enough at yesterday's cabinet meeting, Defense Secretary Pete Hexeth
11:07added a new twist to his claims about the deadly second strike on an alleged narco boat.
11:14Watch this one.
11:16Secretary Hexeth said he had no knowledge of this and it did not happen.
11:19And then the next day from the podium at the White House, they're saying it did happen.
11:23So, either he was lying to us on Sunday or he's incompetent and didn't know it had happened.
11:29I watched that first strike lie.
11:30I didn't stick around for the hour and two hours, whatever, moved on to my next meeting.
11:35A couple of hours later, I learned that that commander had made the, which he had the complete
11:39authority to do.
11:40And by the way, Admiral Bradley made the correct decision to ultimately sink the boat and eliminate
11:46the threat.
11:46I did not personally see survivors, but I stand, because the thing was on fire.
11:51It was exploded in fire or smoke.
11:53You can't see anything.
11:54You got digital.
11:54This is called the fog of war.
11:56This is what you and the press don't understand.
12:01But even Pete himself had a much different take on this back in 2016.
12:09Watch this.
12:09I do think there have to be consequences for abject war crimes.
12:15If you're doing something that is just completely unlawful and ruthless, then there is a consequence
12:21for that.
12:21That's why the military said it won't follow unlawful orders from their commander in chief.
12:26There's a standard.
12:27There's an ethos.
12:28There's a belief that we are above what so many things that our enemies or others would do.
12:33Now, where have I heard that before?
12:36Watch this.
12:36Our laws are clear.
12:38You can refuse illegal orders.
12:42That's right.
12:45So it seems that the only fog in this particular realm is in Pete's head.
12:54Yeah.
12:55Because he's also trying to take Mark Kelly down for saying exactly what he said in 2016.
13:03So what is happening?
13:04So when Rand Paul says he's either a liar or incompetent, why can't he be both?
13:09Well, no, so Mark...
13:10Yeah, it can be two things at one time.
13:11Yeah, Mark Kelly actually cleared something up.
13:14He has served and he's sunk ships.
13:16He said, although Pete Hegseth supported the admiral, whether Pete Hegseth made the call
13:21or not, we don't know yet, but he said he made the right decision.
13:25Mark Kelly said the right decision in that military event would have been to rescue the
13:28two people hanging off the debris and then go back in for the ship, which they say, you
13:33know, held the drugs and they were trying to get rid of.
13:35But I wish Rand Paul would have spoken up earlier because only four Republican senators voted
13:40against the appointment of Pete Hegseth.
13:43And he was not one of them.
13:45And the same thing with Cassidy.
13:47I think they're having buyer's remorse.
13:49There was a reason why everyone was screaming and said, look at these people.
13:52They're not capable of doing this job.
13:55And Rand Paul gave the green light on this one.
13:57Somebody said to me yesterday, yeah, they should have listened to Pete Hegseth's mama.
14:00Remember she wrote that letter?
14:02Yes, she did.
14:02Telling him that, you know, about his character issues.
14:05Listen, a few things.
14:07First of all, this is a fabricated war.
14:10Okay.
14:11We didn't even know we were in a war.
14:16Yesterday, the conservative columnist, Will Smith, said, we have a war crime.
14:21George Will said, we have a...
14:25Will Smith, not exactly.
14:26Get my name out of your mouth.
14:28Oh, God.
14:29Oh, God.
14:33Nice one.
14:33Nice one.
14:34Nice one.
14:35Let me get back to my point.
14:38George Will said, there is a war crime where there is no war.
14:43Because they keep talking about these boats as if they were a threat.
14:47These boats are going to Trinidad and Tobago.
14:51And, you know, if they are drug boats, which they haven't shown us evidence that they are,
14:57they are going to Trinidad and Tobago.
14:59The drugs that go through Venezuela end up in Europe.
15:01But there's something very important happening.
15:03And I think we need to talk about it and commend it.
15:06Which is, for the first time that I can remember, Republicans in Congress are pushing back.
15:11And the Republican chairs of the committees of oversight are conducting investigations.
15:17And, look, to me, it's also ridiculous that the Secretary of Defense would say,
15:22I didn't stay to watch the whole thing because I had things to do.
15:25Yeah, what meeting was so important that he left what was going on?
15:30And what meeting would be so important about it?
15:33He had to go get on the signal chat and talk to his brother-in-law and dentist.
15:37But they call it the Department of War instead of Defense now.
15:41And didn't Trump run on anti-war platform?
15:45Yes, he did.
15:45He was going to lower prices and no more wars.
15:48And now they call the Department Defense of the Department of War.
15:50I just want to make it very clear that if this second strike...
15:54I feel like I'm in a few good men.
15:56Who ordered the code red?
15:57Did you order the code red?
15:58I think that Pete Hexeth clearly ordered the code red here.
16:02And I also think that that would be a war crime.
16:05And it's very clear.
16:06You speak to anybody from JAG.
16:07You speak to Senator California Representative Ted Lieu, who's a former JAG officer.
16:13He has said this is a war crime.
16:14And the sad thing about it is if you do follow an unlawful order and you're in the military,
16:19you can be court-martialed and you can be prosecuted and you can be put in jail.
16:21Just like in a few good men.
16:23They set you up.
16:24He set up the military.
16:26He set it up.
16:27And I'm sorry, the buck stops with him.
16:29Yes.
16:30It's his job, whatever it's called, Department of Defense, War, Booty, whatever.
16:34Can I tell you something?
16:35It's the Department of Lies because I don't know why they don't just tell us...
16:39That's the whole government.
16:40...that they want regime change in Venezuela instead of fabricating all of this stuff.
16:44Because this is a better distraction.
16:46Because, yes, that's exactly right.
16:49All right.
17:00Stay with this.
17:01Stay with this and keep me awake.
17:04A husband took to Reddit over a bedroom argument with his wife.
17:10Yep.
17:10She would make playful comments about his body in bed, which he told her he did not like.
17:17You with me so far?
17:19Yeah.
17:19Okay.
17:20So when she kept doing it, he did it back to her by calling her his sexy chunky monkey.
17:28And jiggling her love handles.
17:34She got mad.
17:35That turns me on, so...
17:36She got mad saying it's totally different because she's a woman.
17:41Mm.
17:41He claims it's unfair that it's you double-standarding, double-standarding it.
17:48Yeah.
17:48Reddit users, apparently, are split.
17:52I don't know who they are, but they're split on this.
17:54Mm-hmm.
17:54What do you think?
17:56If your partner says, I don't like it when you do this, that's the only person you're answering to.
18:01Yeah.
18:01It's not double standards or society in the bedroom with you.
18:04No, she started it.
18:05No, she started it.
18:05She started.
18:06And he said, I don't like when you do that.
18:07And she ignored it.
18:08Yes.
18:09And then he did it.
18:09So there's nothing to fight about.
18:12Yeah.
18:12Didn't he call her a chunky monkey?
18:14Yeah, but he did it because she started calling Kippa.
18:17He didn't like it, so then he did it to her.
18:20Oh, I see.
18:20Are you out?
18:21Frankly.
18:22Can I tell you something?
18:24If Al is getting sex, if I'm him, he doesn't care if I call him Shrek, Sasquatch, Hannibal Lester.
18:31Yeah.
18:32He's like, yeah, I'm good.
18:34I think he probably has more to say about the fact that you're talking about your husband.
18:39I think in this case, you know, what I do know is neither of them are getting any anytime soon.
18:45Yeah.
18:45I mean, this is a full-blown argument.
18:48I mean, you're insulting your partner, you're body shaming your partner.
18:50In intimate moments.
18:51While being intimate.
18:52Oh, it's kind of funny.
18:54You think so?
18:55Yeah.
18:55I think it's fine.
18:56I'd be pretty curious.
18:57Maybe I've been married too long now.
18:59Chunky monkey?
18:59Chunky monkey and then jiggling the love handles?
19:02Yeah, it's fine.
19:02Don't jiggle me.
19:03Don't jiggle me.
19:04I don't like the jiggles.
19:04There's nothing to jiggle.
19:06This is for Entertainment Weekly.
19:08Yeah.
19:09The jiggle was a bridge too far.
19:12The jiggle is you putting your own nail in your own coffin.
19:14Yeah.
19:14Because we ain't doing that ever again.
19:15That sexy chunky monkey sounds like an ice cream flavor from Ben and Jerry's.
19:18Because it is.
19:20Chunky monkey.
19:20It's delicious.
19:22There is a chunky monkey.
19:23Yes.
19:23No wonder I thought I'd heard this before.
19:25Talk dirty to me if you're speaking ice cream.
19:30Wow.
19:31Well, I guess it's better than Rocky Road.
19:33Okay, I'm not going any further with this at all.
19:40Welcome back.
19:50Dennis Leary is putting a new spin on the holiday comedy in the movie, Oh What Fun.
19:56He stars as the father of a dysfunctional family who don't know how good they have it until mom disappears at Christmas.
20:06Take a look.
20:07Give her a little bit of time and she'll come back.
20:11Taylor's right.
20:12She's making complete sense.
20:13Okay?
20:14She's going to come back.
20:14And when she does, we will just admit we screwed up, say we're sorry.
20:18We'll own it.
20:19And until that point, I want everybody to just suck it up and act like adults.
20:25I'm in charge now and I just want rational thinking here.
20:28Okay?
20:29Everybody just stay cool, calm, and what the hell am I talking about?
20:34I can't do anything without your mother.
20:36Daddy?
20:36Oh my God, what are we going to do?
20:38Is she going to come back?
20:39Oh my God.
20:40Need some water?
20:41You okay?
20:41Without your mother, I'm lost.
20:43Without her, what am I going to do?
20:45Please welcome the fabulous Janice Leary.
21:18Oh boy, kissing all the ladies.
21:19Kissing all the ladies.
21:20Yeah.
21:21But it's you, Joy.
21:22Yeah, I know.
21:23Sir Dennis.
21:24Yes.
21:25We forgot.
21:25The one thing that wasn't in that clip is the mom, played by Michelle Pfeiffer.
21:30Yes.
21:30That's the key thing to remember.
21:32Yes.
21:32Michelle Pfeiffer is so funny in this movie.
21:34Hilarious.
21:35She snaps.
21:35She can't take it anymore.
21:37Underappreciated moms.
21:38That's the theme.
21:38And she's underappreciated.
21:39And she takes off.
21:41And she...
21:41We're allowed to do that.
21:42Done that.
21:43Yeah, I know.
21:43We're allowed to do that.
21:44And she takes off on a cross-country trip.
21:46Don't tell everything.
21:47I know.
21:47I don't want to tell everything.
21:48Yeah, you're telling me.
21:48To be on the Zazie Tims show.
21:50Zazie Tims is like the biggest talk show in the world.
21:54Yeah.
21:54And it's hosted by Ava Longoria.
21:56Ava Longoria.
21:57She's Zazie Tims.
21:58And Michelle does some of the funniest bad dancing
22:01that you have ever seen in your life
22:03at the Zazie Tims show.
22:04Anyways, that's all I'll give away.
22:06Yeah, you don't want to tell the whole damn movie.
22:08No.
22:08All right, so we were just talking about...
22:11I know.
22:12Sexy, chunky, monkey.
22:13Chunky, monkey.
22:14So what do you think?
22:16Here's what I think, okay?
22:18When my wife is having sex with me,
22:20she can call me whatever the hell.
22:23I don't care.
22:24She can call me anything.
22:25She can call me chunky, skinny.
22:27How long you're married?
22:29A long time.
22:30Thirty...
22:31Wait, my son is 35.
22:33Thirty-six years married.
22:35Thirty-six years.
22:35Congratulations.
22:35Wow, congrats.
22:36Yeah.
22:40So you wouldn't care.
22:41Oh, you guys are cute.
22:42Yeah.
22:43Look at that.
22:43You wouldn't care if she called you
22:44a sexy, chunky monkey.
22:45No.
22:46Look at my wife.
22:47Yeah.
22:47And look at me.
22:48Like, who doesn't belong in that picture?
22:51I got so lucky, and I love her,
22:53and I loved her the moment I first saw her,
22:56and I...
22:57This is a women are from Venus,
23:00men are from Mars moment,
23:02because, you know, it bothers women.
23:03Men don't care what you call them
23:05as long as you're giving it.
23:06Yeah.
23:07I think that's...
23:08Listen, that's...
23:09It's certain...
23:10I think it is true of men in general.
23:12This guy, what a moron this guy is.
23:14Yeah.
23:14Who cares what she's calling you?
23:16You know?
23:17He clearly took him out of the moment, Dennis.
23:19Sexy chunky monkey.
23:20Also, by the way, you're right.
23:21It should be an ice cream.
23:23Apparently it is.
23:23No, it is an ice cream, guys.
23:24Oh, it is?
23:25I can show you my butt if you want.
23:27No, no, chunky monkey, but sexy chunky monkey
23:27needs to be an ice cream.
23:29Oh!
23:29Oh!
23:29Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
23:30I have a little swirl in it.
23:32Yeah.
23:32Right?
23:33Kalua.
23:34Well, Dennis, you've been on...
23:35You've been here a bunch over the years.
23:37Yes, I have.
23:37And I hear that you've amassed quite a collection of mugs, right?
23:41But now you say they're going missing because of your family.
23:44Well, listen, I started out...
23:45I started on this show back when Barbara Walters was here, right?
23:49Yeah.
23:49So I had...
23:50What I have left is I have a Barbara Walters mug,
23:53I have a Rosie O'Donnell one,
23:56and I have the most recent one when I was here last year, right?
23:59That's it?
24:00From the whole time?
24:01The rest of them I can't find.
24:02How many does he need?
24:03But let me just tell you, this is what my family does.
24:05Like, when I was doing the show Rescue Me,
24:07but this is true of any big movies I did, too.
24:09Oh, thank you, thank you.
24:11You know, every year there was a swag bag
24:14for the people that were in the show that was a private thing,
24:16and then there was, like, for the crew,
24:17and there was, like, you know, sweatshirts and whatever.
24:19And then there was stuff that they sold, you know, online.
24:22Yeah.
24:22FX.
24:23And I would get a bunch of all that stuff.
24:25Right.
24:25I have one Rescue Me sweatshirt left.
24:27I would go see my mom.
24:29She'd be walking around in Spider-Man T-shirts
24:32and Rescue Me hats.
24:33And I was like, where'd you get this?
24:34She's like, I don't know.
24:35Your sister took it from your house.
24:36I feel like I need a T-shirt that says Rescue Me.
24:40I can't help you with the Rescue Me,
24:42but I can help you because I know some people at the show.
24:45Get.
24:46We feel that your family has done you dirty.
24:50Come on.
24:51That is so awesome.
24:53You can share.
24:55Yeah, because the family can feel the way.
24:57Literally, after Christmas, only this one will be left.
25:00Yeah.
25:01I think they just, like, they sip, and they finish,
25:02and they put it in their bags.
25:03Or, you know, I'm watching a football game.
25:06They go up into my bedroom and take a couple of sweatshirts
25:09and leave.
25:09So whatever.
25:10Well, you're going to need to search bags.
25:13I have to search bags, I think.
25:14Well, we have to talk about your new movie,
25:16Oh, What Fun, because I saw it last night,
25:18and it was great.
25:20You want to premiere?
25:20No, I got a link, so I was able to watch it at home.
25:24And it really is about the, you know, moms holding stuff together,
25:29and, you know, I related to it.
25:31I really related to it.
25:32I could feel her attention.
25:33Yeah, holding stuff together and being underappreciated.
25:35So it's just a twist on the usual holiday comedy,
25:39which a lot of moms out there I think will relate to.
25:42What was it like to work with the legendary Michelle Pfeiffer?
25:45Because she looks great in the movie.
25:47Well, first of all, that's why when I,
25:50the producers were friends of mine,
25:52so then when they called up and said,
25:54hey, we have a script, it's Michael Showalter,
25:57who's a great director.
25:58And I love Michael.
25:58He used to be in a comedy called The State years ago,
26:01who were great.
26:02And he's a great director.
26:03He's in some great movies.
26:04But then he said, it's a comedy,
26:06a Christmas comedy with Michelle Pfeiffer.
26:08And I was like, I'm in.
26:09Start working on the date.
26:10Send me the script.
26:10They were like, well, don't you want to read it?
26:12And I was like, when am I going to get the chance
26:14to play Michelle Pfeiffer's husband, number one, okay?
26:19Even if it's the husband who loses her at Christmas time.
26:23And number two, Michelle in a comedy,
26:25she doesn't do that many comedies.
26:26And she's got that southern accent.
26:27Yeah, and she was fantastic.
26:29She was great.
26:30The whole cast is amazing.
26:31It's a really funny movie.
26:33It is funny.
26:33Yeah.
26:34It's really funny.
26:35She's hysterical in it.
26:36You just said that,
26:37we just saw a picture of you and your real wife,
26:39Anne, your real-life wife, Anne,
26:41who you've been married to for 36 years.
26:43Isn't she a ridiculous one?
26:44And so the movie is about a mom, wife,
26:47getting taken for granted.
26:49Yes.
26:49Do you feel you've ever done that in real life?
26:51Oh, yeah.
26:52Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
26:53How's that gone?
26:54Well, it goes pretty well,
26:56because what happens is I forget because I'm a guy
26:59and I'm an idiot.
26:59And then my wife will very calmly sit me down
27:04and remind me, which women are really good at.
27:07Yeah.
27:07Like, this is what's been going on.
27:09You probably don't think about this and blah, blah, blah.
27:12And I go, ah, right.
27:13You're right.
27:14OK, got it.
27:15I had an ex who would tell me that any time I got hysterical,
27:17I'd get historical.
27:19Yeah.
27:20That tracks for you.
27:22That's a great quote.
27:22It does.
27:22I think it's, first of all, it's about time.
27:25We didn't think about this until we were doing the movie.
27:27Like, every giant Christmas movie is about a guy.
27:30It's about his dad, right?
27:31It's true.
27:32Oh, right.
27:32So it's well overdue.
27:34Yeah, yeah.
27:34But it's also that Michael Showalter also
27:37co-wrote the script.
27:38It's really funny.
27:39It is funny.
27:40It's perfect for the holidays.
27:42It's perfect for the holidays.
27:43Dysfunctional family is a redundant statement.
27:45Every family has dysfunction.
27:46Exactly.
27:47But, um.
27:47I come from a big, giant dysfunctional family.
27:50Who steals your stuff.
27:51And in Ireland.
27:51There's a bunch of us in Ireland, too.
27:53We're all dysfunctional.
27:55We're two different countries.
27:56Dennis, you also appeared as Captain Stacy
27:58in the amazing Spider-Man movies.
28:01But I wanted to ask you about another iconic comic book
28:03character.
28:04I did not know this.
28:05Deadpool.
28:06Yes.
28:06So he's played by Ryan Reynolds in the MCU.
28:09But Deadpool's creators revealed they originally based
28:11the character's sarcastic voice on you.
28:15They did.
28:15So that he would sound like 1992 Dennis Leary
28:18in an echo chamber.
28:20That was their motivation.
28:21So I can now hear it that way.
28:24What's your response to that?
28:25That's kind of a big deal.
28:25Well, first of all, let me say this.
28:27I'm not the biggest superhero fan, but I love Batman.
28:31I love Spider-Man.
28:32I love Iron Man.
28:33And I love the idea of Deadpool.
28:36I didn't know this until after I'd seen the first Deadpool,
28:38I think is when these guys said that.
28:40Yeah.
28:40And I got to say, Ryan, like forget about me.
28:43Ryan Reynolds slaughters that role.
28:45Yes.
28:46Right?
28:46And the one with Hugh Jackman.
28:48Yes.
28:49That was a good one.
28:49It was really funny.
28:50So if they're using me, I think I should get a cut.
28:53I think it's fair.
28:54Yes.
28:56I should speak to Ryan directly.
28:58Ryan, come on, man.
28:59Do the right thing, Ryan.
29:00I don't know why they didn't make you Deadpool.
29:04No, no, no, no, no.
29:05I'm too old to be Deadpool.
29:06I'm way too old to be Deadpool.
29:06You know what?
29:07Let me tell you something.
29:08I could be Deadpool's dad.
29:09Yeah.
29:10You could be.
29:11Ryan, Ryan, listen, we just had a great idea.
29:14If you're watching, if not, I'm sure your wife's-
29:16His mother watches.
29:17His mom is definitely watching.
29:18His mother definitely watches.
29:19Mrs. Reynolds, listen to me now.
29:20Ten seconds, fellas.
29:22Ten seconds.
29:23Deadpool 3, you can have Hugh Jackman.
29:25I'll play Ryan's dad.
29:27I like that.
29:28Yes.
29:28Okay.
29:28Because it's important to remember that superheroes came from somewhere
29:34and some of them also age.
29:37They're not ageless.
29:38Not all of them.
29:38I know.
29:40Oh, what fun is streaming now on Prime Video and season two of his sitcom,
29:45Don't Go in Dutch, premieres January 15th, but he'll be back before that.

31:27It's very, very...
31:27It's just so comfortable.
31:28Yeah.
31:29There's no underwire in it, so it's just...
31:30I chill in this and I sleep in it as well.
