In the heart of Greenland, among the icy ridges of Nuussuaq, lived Anana – guardian of the animals. Her voice was the song of ice and wind, wild and pure: “La la hey.” One morning the earth trembled. A mighty piteraq was coming – a blizzard so violent it could swallow entire herds and turn the world into a white tomb. Anana did not flee. She climbed the highest hill, spread her arms wide, and sang louder than the raging wind. The mountains seized the melody, and the song carried so far that every creature – reindeer, polar bear, arctic fox, and snow-white hare – heard the call of their guardian. Then the spirit of the blizzard faltered, fell silent, and melted into gentle mist. Anana descended to her herd. She danced slowly among the reindeer and white bears while the mountains softly echoed her final note. She protected not only the animals. She protected the song, and the song protected everything.
