43:47But for those of you who don't know it, here's the short version.
43:50My parents were both junior hockey coaches, and they were hit by a drunk driver when I was 12 years old.
44:02Mercifully for them, they died instantly.
44:05Mercifully for me, the St. Thomas scholarships existed.
44:09I didn't have anybody else to help me.
44:14I had a lot of memories, a love of hockey, and a huge hole in my heart.
44:20St. Thomas filled it with hope, the hope of a new family.
44:28Things weren't always easy.
44:30You know, they never are for anybody.
44:32But in hockey, I found what I was missing.
44:37First at my high school, then later at college, and now here with the Admirals.
44:41And I never looked back, because I never had to.
44:46The family I craved, the family that I needed, that I still need today, hockey gave it to me.
44:58And St. Thomas gave me hockey.
45:02So from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for being here tonight,
45:06and for supporting this cause, because it's not just a scholarship.
